@Sharptonguedwoman - yep identical situation- I developed arthritis in neck after covid ( am 62) and I am definitely improved if house is warm or in warmer less damp climates. Like you our lovely posh rented house can easily develop mould if it gets cold or damp - my H also would tell me to put the bloody heating on if I was sat with hoody's and blankets-we aren't well off but we aren't on the breadline- and hence heating goes on

Crikeyalmighty · 12/09/2024 12:10

@Blanketpolicy the only time I can remember the heating not kicking in at all was around Glastonbury for about a week

ACynicalDad · 12/09/2024 12:15

Will hold off a good few weeks yet, has to be awful to put it on in September, my brother waits for November.

sunsetsandboardwalks · 12/09/2024 12:35

I think the "just put on another jumper" posters genuinely don't get chilled to the bone like you and I do.

This works both ways though, surely?

Because it seems that posters like you also genuinely don't understand that other people don't feel cold.

EasternStandard · 13/09/2024 08:00

Well it may go on today, it's early but weather on radio confirmed it's cold for September

ichundich · 13/09/2024 08:04

I've put ours on for an hour this morning. It's crazy that just a week ago I was still in shorts...

sleepwithblanket · 13/09/2024 08:24

1.5 degrees this morning and I had to defrost the car.

I know it was 4℃ outside when I got up this morning - no wonder I had to get up in the night and scrabble around in the airing cupboard to find the quilted throw for the bed 🥶.

My thermostat is in the hallway - warmest bit of the house, south facing with sun streaming through the window. Currently at 20 I know this means the rest of the house is about 18.

looks like I will be giving the heating another blast this evening.

RobinEllacotStrike · 13/09/2024 12:02

I put a blanket on top of my duvet (still summer weight) last night. I need to dig out my quilted throw today - I do like the added weight that gives as well as the warmth.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 16/09/2024 09:00

It was cold last night! I might treat myself to teddy bear fleece bedding for winter as it’s so cosy! Dd1 keeps getting in bed with me in the night so will keep her cosy too. I wonder if they cot bed teddy bear fleece bedding. Off to google 😁

ODFOx · 16/09/2024 09:30

Not yet, but we were out all day on Saturday and I sat with a blanket over my knees when we got home.

Decafflatteplease · 27/09/2024 08:42

We've caved and put in on just for half an hour this morning. We were hoping to get to October but it was 15 degrees inside so gave it a quick blast

lazyarse123 · 27/09/2024 08:50

We had ours on for an hour last night. I don't feel the cold unless I'm just sat, but we both have throws.

KohlaParasaurus · 27/09/2024 18:00

Ours has started to come on with the thermostat. DH has set the thermostat a degree or two lower than I would, but I'm not going to get into a game of thermostat wars.

RampantIvy · 27/09/2024 20:32

It's 6 degrees here. Of course the heating is on.

TwinklyNight · 27/09/2024 20:53

No, our ac is still on.

TwinklyNight · 27/09/2024 21:09

Ignore that, I just checked and the ac isn't on. Dh said he turned it off last night.

JaceLancs · 27/09/2024 21:11

No chance! In our house it’s not allowed until November

Zanatdy · 27/09/2024 21:13

No, I still had the air con (small portable thing) running on Monday as my flat is so hot! Its still 22 degrees inside and no heating since April time. Bonus of a flat. I did enjoy sitting next to the radiator at work today as i was soaking wet

QuestionableMouse · 27/09/2024 22:55

I'd love to know where you all are to still have your AC on. It's been in single figures here today, with the thermostat showing the flat as 15-16c most of the day.

Why not?

So would I. It is very cold here in South Yorkshire.

Allywill · 27/09/2024 23:02

yes. i really feel the cold and put it on when i need it - we can afford it though and appreciate how fortunate that makes us.

Hoardasauruskaren · 27/09/2024 23:04

I’ve had it on for the odd hour or so over the last week. Thermostat set at 18 so clicks on if below that.

BabyR · 27/09/2024 23:35

Mine went on for the first time today. I have a brand new house so I want to keep it warm to prevent any damp.
