I’m cold. But also poor so I’m doing my best to keep it off!

Decent this afternoon on NE Wales
Washing dried.

I do all the extra layers thing. I spent most of the year in between 3-5 layers because I feel the cold. Last year we pushed the heating as far as we could, but the house ended up cold and damp, with damp in a room that had never been there before. This year is going to have to go on earlier. These endless seasons of rain are no good for my house.

Crikeyalmighty · 09/09/2024 21:38

Mine is set to 21 and has come on at various points over the last week and over the summer too .

Flaskfan · 09/09/2024 21:39

And we live in one of those magical houses that are always colder than the outside. The number of times one of us wraps up to go out, only to find it's actually warmer outside.

KohlaParasaurus · 09/09/2024 21:41

It feels as if the heating has only been off for about a month. It hasn't gone back on in our house yet (when it does, it'll be DH who caves in first) but I wore tights and long sleeves on my bike ride today. My parents in Scotland tell me that they had the heating on today "just for an hour, to make sure it's working".

RampantIvy · 09/09/2024 21:42

The boiler has broken down, so it is off. Heating not required right now, but we have no hot water Sad

However, we have someone booked to come tomorrow.

Starlightstarbright3 · 09/09/2024 21:43

No I had washing on the line today which dried and windows open

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 09/09/2024 19:57

No but I’m dahn sahf so it’s not that cold. Have got the windows open in my bedroom in fact.

Same. My kids have got a fan on in their room.

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 09/09/2024 21:14

Mines been on since the start of august.

We didn't do summer this year in Scotland

Same here, heating was on a few times in June and July too.

I'm in north Scotland and have never known a (lack of) summer like this one.

Mardyybum · 09/09/2024 21:47

Heating no, but we have lit the log burner for the last two nights

PandoraSox · 09/09/2024 21:48

Nope. Not cold here in Wales.

Boutonnière · 09/09/2024 21:49

LaurieFairyCake · 09/09/2024 19:51

No, in London - still wearing a t shirt

Same here ! It was a bit chillier this morning than it has been but it soon warmed up and I was in T-shirt and cotton trousers.

Dweetfidilove · 09/09/2024 21:50

Ma'am, please stop putting ideas into my head ☺️.
Not yet, but I'm using the electric blanket, which is ridiculous as I was out without a jacket earlier. Inside is nippy at night though.

Shodan · 09/09/2024 21:53

No, but I'm in Surrey and it's still relatively warmish. Definitely chilly enough in the evening to warrant draping the fleecy blankie over my ankles though.

However we spent 5 days in the Lake District week before last, it rained every single day and we did put the heater on in the cottage we rented, it was much chillier up there (plus we're Southern Softies).

RampantIvy · 09/09/2024 21:54

fashionqueen0123 · 09/09/2024 21:45

Same. My kids have got a fan on in their room.

Just how warm is it where you are?

It is most definitely autumn here in South Yorkshire. It has rained all weekend and all morning today. It cleared up this afternoon and we scraped 14 degrees today. Temperatures this week - 12, 9, 11,11. Most definitely not fan weather.

RottenApplesSpoilTheLot · 09/09/2024 21:55

Yep, a few nights ago I had it on for an hour before bed as it was brassic. Tonight I thought "sod it" and gave it a tweak about an hour ago so that my hands would be warm while I worked on the laptop.... and yeah, I'm in the South not the frozen North.

Relearningbehaviour · 09/09/2024 21:55

Yes. I put it on for 1/2 an hour this morning

Rubyandscarlett · 09/09/2024 21:56

No, don't want to peak too early!

TheMauveBeaker · 09/09/2024 21:56

Not in Lincolnshire, still mild here. But we also have our bedroom windows open all year round with no heating ever in that room.

Ginmonkeyagain · 09/09/2024 21:58

Absolutely not. Not even got socks or a long sleeved top on yet. I'm in London and it's been pretty humid over the last few days here.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 09/09/2024 22:01

No I live in a well insulated new build and it's still 21 degrees inside.

I am aiming to hold out until November....

GoldenLegend · 09/09/2024 22:05

My thermostat is set at 18C. Yesterday the temperature got down to 19C and I was looking at the thermometer rather wistfully!

TeatimeForTheSoul · 09/09/2024 22:09

Up north, no heating, still have light summer duvet on bed, but I did wear a jumper tonight.

TimmyTurtle · 09/09/2024 22:11

Hadn't even thought about it! I'm in Scotland and it's not particularly warm but there's loads of things I'll do first before the heating goes on. It's not even cold enough for slippers yet!

AhBiscuits · 09/09/2024 22:11

It's pretty warm here still. I won't hesitate if I feel cold though. I can't stand being cold.

Penguinfeet24 · 09/09/2024 22:13

I hadn't, right up u til today when it genuinely felt much cooler. I put it up to 20 today and thought I'll let the heating gods decide - it came on for about ten mins then went off again and hasn't come back on yet. Eldest child has been coming in my bed in the middle of the night and I couldn't work out why as we had broken that habit, turns out he's waking up cold in the night so tonight I put a blanket on top of his duvet, hopefully that'll keep him toasty and asleep.
