Made a bolognaise pasta sauce type thing with 1 kg of minced beef steak.
Onions, peppers and mushrooms added.
Have come home from work and DH and DS 18 have polished the bloody lot off leaving me with a measly ladle full of sauce
( pasta was cooked separately for clarification)
They are most of that too

Bloody hell. I’d expect that to be 8 standard portions!

Sunburnisrareinscotland · 08/08/2024 17:23

Order yourself a take away. And tell them they need to cook tomorrow and Saturday..

AFmammaG · 08/08/2024 17:23

It’s not how much they ate that makes them greedy, it’s not leaving any for you that does.

Shinyandnew1 · 08/08/2024 17:23

If be livid-have you shown them what you’ve been left to eat, @Fleurdalys ? What did they say?

Anonym00se · 08/08/2024 17:23

I’d have words. 1kg of mince should be enough for 8 people. It’s greedy af of them not to keep you a decent portion. I’d be livid, especially after you made it.

500g of mince feeds two adults and 1 DC(5) x2 meals in our house, so the amount you made would have fed us 4 times. Personally I find it disgusting that 2 people could eat that much between them in one sitting, especially when it left one person in the household with virtually nothing left to eat.

Panicmode1 · 08/08/2024 17:26

I do 1kg of mince for 6 of us (4 teens, 3 boys 😂). I would have been livid if they hadn't left me any......

SilenceInside · 08/08/2024 17:26

Did either of them apologise for not leaving you any, and did either of them offer an explanation as to why they didn't think ti leave you a portion??

AGodawfulsmallaffair · 08/08/2024 17:26

I would NOT be cooking for those selfish bastards for a good long time.

Apparently they were starving after their manual jobs
Fair enough but they had bloody packed lunch too!
No I didn't/ don't make that

StormingNorman · 08/08/2024 17:27

Rude of them not to leave you a decent portion.

Kitchen tax: they cook the next bolognaise.

I once cooked an entire side of salmon, left it in the oven and went for a shower. It was to be mixed with quinoa, veg and portioned out for a week. Came downstairs and my OH was finishing it off. The whole.bloody thing. He doesn't like salmon much. If I am cooking I need to be there at plating up or he would eat everything - literally everything in the pans or in the oven. It's insane.

GeilistheWitch · 08/08/2024 17:29

This is precisely the kind of incident that leads me to "hide" half my batch-cooking either in a different container in the fridge or straight into the freezer.
You are not unreasonable to be furious, but learn from this and outsmart the greedy pigs next time.

Glad it's not just my lot

I use 500g to make for our family of 5. That was a large amount of food to eat. How rude of them when they had no part in making it. I hope they apologise profusely.

It's definitely this!!

Sometimes, we can just be ravenous and eat but they didn't dish you up a good portion before helping themselves to seconds, thirds etc which is the greedy part!

user1471538283 · 08/08/2024 17:30

My bf and DS eat like horses. That is alot of food. But the bit that I would be upset about is they didn't leave enough for you. They could have set aside your portion and shared the rest. It's rude not to.

Order a delivery and don't make anything for them again.

Omg, at what point would any sane person consider that’s for them?!

It’s not how much they ate that makes them greedy, it’s not leaving any for you that does.

Its both.

Its greedy and inconsiderate to not leave you any, but it's frankly gluttonous to eat at least 10 persons worth of food between the two of them.

I do spag bol with 500g + veg and it easily feeds 6-7 with portions left for the next day.

AFmammaG · 08/08/2024 17:23

I disagree, half a kilo of mince for one person is greedy. It's over eating, it wasn't like it was their only meal of the day!

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 08/08/2024 17:33

DH eats like this but he would never not leave me a decent portion and get off his arse as soon as I appeared to cook me the pasta to go with it if he and the kids hadn't waited for me [also unheard of unless I am very late with work].

I'd be sending them out to the supermarket to get the ingredients to replace it and ordering their favourite takeaway and not sharing an ounce of it.

That's really disrespectful and selfish. And greedy.
