Made a bolognaise pasta sauce type thing with 1 kg of minced beef steak.
Onions, peppers and mushrooms added.
Have come home from work and DH and DS 18 have polished the bloody lot off leaving me with a measly ladle full of sauce
( pasta was cooked separately for clarification)
They are most of that too
Twats

I once cooked an entire side of salmon, left it in the oven and went for a shower. It was to be mixed with quinoa, veg and portioned out for a week. Came downstairs and my OH was finishing it off. The whole.bloody thing. He doesn't like salmon much. If I am cooking I need to be there at plating up or he would eat everything - literally everything in the pans or in the oven. It's insane.

What?? He thought you were cooking a whole meal but wouldn't actually want to eat any of it, and he could just eat the whole lot??

I'd have been absolutely livid at the complete lack of thought about anyone else. Just "me see food me eat food".

FixTheBone · 08/08/2024 17:32

Its both.

Its greedy and inconsiderate to not leave you any, but it's frankly gluttonous to eat at least 10 persons worth of food between the two of them.

I do spag bol with 500g + veg and it easily feeds 6-7 with portions left for the next day.

500g of meat, feeds 7 with some left over?

Wow. They must eat like a bird

LadyGabriella · 08/08/2024 17:57

Bolognese. But yea they should have left you some

PoopedAndScooped · 08/08/2024 17:59

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 08/08/2024 17:41

Wow-I use 500g mince and that feeds 6 of us for two separate meals. That’s a huge amount of food. And yes I have boy teenagers in that mix

Sorry 500g for 12?????

Toastandbutterand · 08/08/2024 18:01

Wow, that would do 8 portions of spaghetti Bolognese in my house too.

12 portions if turned into lasagna (I go crazy with the cheese layers).

Purplecrush · 08/08/2024 18:01

Greedy ignorant selfish pigs.
They would be coming home to cook for themselves.
I wouldn't tolerate that for a minute.

I soak green lentils in boiling water over night, give them a 20 minute boil and add a kilo to my mince when cooked.
It doubles the volume and is nutritional very good.
We are trying to reduce red meat as much as possible.

I know this is not the point of the thread, (their behaviour was greedy AF - im glad the wraps are now frozen for tomorrow, that is genius😂) buuut what's your recipe? Sounds like your pasta was delicious!!

It's actually really thrown together
I work full time and like to do two days worth of meals at a time
Just sautéed peppers, onion, mushrooms, chilli and a hefty gallon or two of decent pasta

Depends how much veg is added I guess.

I often bulk out bolognese with mushrooms I blitz in the food processor, plus a good amount of lentils. Then I have chopped carrots, onion, and sometimes I chuck a red pepper in as well.

Saz12 · 08/08/2024 18:03

Im of the "if hungry eat something" persuasion... BUT would expect them to have filled up with extra pasta and to have left plenty for me! I'd also be sharing the cooking and the shopping. Glad you used up all the lunch ingredients - maybe they'll realise how selfish theyve been.

Pedallleur · 08/08/2024 18:06

They are inconsiderate CFs. Do they have form for this? They sat there, stuffed it in and gave the OP no thought or if they did it was So What? Would be making their own food if it was down to me

Was it some sort of pissing contest?
I've known men and their teenage sons go into competition with each other - who can eat the most, drink the most, tell the best stories etc. A bit like vying for Top Dog in the house.....

Nah
They are just greedy fuckers

Next time, use half mince, half tinned green lentils.

That'll teach them.

I once made a huge amount of spaghetti bolognese mix - at least a kilo of mince, and a packet of bacon, plus loads of veg - and left it in the fridge with a view to making lasagne for us all the next day. My son and a few friends, who were staying the night, bet one of their number that he couldn’t eat the lot - he managed it!! I had to start again the next morning….

40g of mince is not enough for a portion Confused my teens would be horrified and ask where the rest of it was.

Iloveacurry · 08/08/2024 18:08

Greedy shits! Order yourself a takeaway.

I'd bloody expect 1kg of meat and a shit load of veg to serve more than 2 and a half servings 😂

That’s bonkers!! That would definitely be 6 decent portions over here!

Definitely greedy. I suggest you order a takeaway for one and eat it in front of them. Say no if they ask for any.

IMustDoMoreExercise · 08/08/2024 18:11

You need to add lots of kidney beans etc to everything you cook bulk it out if they have such big appetites.

Bringbackspring · 08/08/2024 18:11

Horrendous, I'd be livid. They may well be hungry but the fact they they never even cared at all about whether you might be hungry too. I wouldn't be able to let this go! I'd definitely make them cook for me now, and possibly stop cooking for them going forward and expect them to sort themselves out. Not even kidding, if DH did this (which he wouldn't as we take it in turns to cook for each other) he'd be left with no uncertainty at how mad I was.

I think the fact that I am hungry and in need of dinner right now is making me feel quite angry about this 😂

butterpuffed · 08/08/2024 18:12

The greedy bastards . Did they think you'd already eaten ?

gardenmusic · 08/08/2024 18:13

Well, there is no dinner for tomorrow - they have eaten it. Their problem. You are not starting to cook all over again.

You stop off on the way home from work for either a meal or a take away.

The males in my family are bottomless pits, but would always make sure everyone had a meal.

Do this on repeat, every time they do that.

treacledan71 · 08/08/2024 18:14

It was a lot for them to eat but some of the comments on this makes me think of the chicken that lasts all week lol.
