Sorry if the title is slightly misleading! 😆

My partner has bought a 65 inch tv and it is bloody huge !

We are redecorating out living room and I was so excited that I could finally have my Neptune like room. Something stylish and calm and inviting.

I now have the monster on my wall ! And I have it :(

I now have no idea how to stylus around it !! Any ideas??

I am feeling unreasonably upset about this and I just can’t get over it.

our room is only 4m x 3.5m so not a large room at all

AIBU?

help me to her over it please or share tips to make the room work

Did you not discuss what size TV you both wanted? I'd never agree to one that size in a normal sized living room

BruceAndNosh · 03/08/2024 20:51

Get him to trade it in for a Samsung Frame TV which displays Art when not in use.

Icanttakethisanymore · 03/08/2024 20:51

No advice but I’m with you - i hate big TVs

TomatoSandwiches · 03/08/2024 20:52

Another argument for living separately.

Ovenon · 03/08/2024 20:53

You'll get used to it, love a big telly!

haplessharpy · 03/08/2024 20:54

Yeah, I'm with the PP who thinks the bigger the better. My lounge is quite large and my telly is huge, but I'd live bigger!

GrumpyPanda · 03/08/2024 20:55

Wow that's a smaller space than mine and I have a 50 inch TV. Get him to swap it for something smaller.

Nourishinghandcream · 03/08/2024 20:56

Oh wow!😲

I would not want a TV that size in our living room and it is twice the size of yours.😖
Even in our family room that would still dominate.

Had you discussed the size of TV or was it all his choice?
Tell him to create a man cave in the garage and put the TV in there, then buy a decent sized one for the living room.🙂

TheSerenePinkOrca · 03/08/2024 20:57

That sounds awful.

In a room that size it would dominate it. I'm also long sighted so would hate watching something that big as I'd need to sit a long way back - the room isn't big enough!

Did you not discuss this?!?!

Growlybear83 · 03/08/2024 20:57

I can't imagine how a TV that large would fit in with a normal sized living room. I've got quite a large living room, and my 32" TV dominates the corner it lives in. Presumably you had a smaller one - can you not replace the new one with it?

redpeachcoralcream · 03/08/2024 20:57

You could have a shallow cupboard built round it

Sethera · 03/08/2024 20:57

Does it have to be in the living room? Could you put it somewhere else and get a smaller one for the living room?

PaminaMozart · 03/08/2024 20:58

Get him to return it and discuss what size would actually work for such a small room.

Why did he consider it appropriate to make such an important purchase without discussing it with you? Is this part of a pattern - if so, I'd reconsider the relationship.

Zanatdy · 03/08/2024 20:59

Oh god I hate huge TV’s in small rooms. Why do men want such a massive TV?

PassingStranger · 03/08/2024 20:59

Sounds like your TV is too big for the size of room you have?

ginandheels · 03/08/2024 21:03

@BruceAndNosh Was about to suggest same. I would like one of these. But not a massive one.

YABU it seems huge now, you’ll get used to it very quickly and being able to see all the details when watching sports and films!
Olympics on a big TV is great!

I can’t imagine going back to even a 48/50 inch tv now and I don’t even watch that much tv lol.

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 03/08/2024 21:06

@Itssobig get a dozen tubes of deep heat for your neck!!! it will be like sitting in the front row at the cinema! I absolutely think people are stupid buying those massive tv's for their living rooms!

FloralPunk · 03/08/2024 21:07

I have nothing to suggest except trade in the telly or the husband, sorry!

Wantavespa · 03/08/2024 21:09

I love a big TV!

ttcat37 · 03/08/2024 21:10

TV on the wall is the bigger offence here

Overtheatlantic · 03/08/2024 21:12

My husband has terrible eyesight so we have a monster of a tv in our living room. I’ve accepted it and ignore it. Although he has a snobby friend who often makes comments about it on fb. 😳

BCBird · 03/08/2024 21:12

I feel ur pain. I'd be mad at this purchase

Ovenon · 03/08/2024 21:13

Er I'm female and love a huge telly !!
