Sorry if the title is slightly misleading! 😆

My partner has bought a 65 inch tv and it is bloody huge !

We are redecorating out living room and I was so excited that I could finally have my Neptune like room. Something stylish and calm and inviting.

I now have the monster on my wall ! And I have it :(

I now have no idea how to stylus around it !! Any ideas??

I am feeling unreasonably upset about this and I just can’t get over it.

our room is only 4m x 3.5m so not a large room at all

AIBU?

help me to her over it please or share tips to make the room work

Laptop screen so doesn't cut it, Olympics on a huge tv is the bee's knees

SeeTheWorldAnotherWay · 03/08/2024 21:15

We got one a few months ago, I hate the damn thing, far too big!

MrsApplepants · 03/08/2024 21:17

Throw it out of the window. Or for a more sustainable solution, take it to a charity shop

startstopengine · 03/08/2024 21:18

Omg my room is slightly bigger and I'm selling our 55 to get a 35, it's just way too big.

The 55 was from a bigger house.

MargaretThursday · 03/08/2024 21:21

Wallpaper over it?

😁

TV on the wall is the bigger offence here

Oh yes, when I see a big TV on a wall in a domestic place I always silently say to myself Wetherspoons!

greengreyblue · 03/08/2024 21:23

Hate big TVs, so yanbu

VivelaFrance · 03/08/2024 21:24

MagneticSquirrel · 03/08/2024 21:05

YABU it seems huge now, you’ll get used to it very quickly and being able to see all the details when watching sports and films!
Olympics on a big TV is great!

I can’t imagine going back to even a 48/50 inch tv now and I don’t even watch that much tv lol.

Yes!

Love big TVs ☺️

autumn1610 · 03/08/2024 21:24

I hate a tv on a wall, it makes it a bloody feature. I think mine is 55inch and it’s about the right size for the space . Wouldn’t want much bigger than that

I've never set foot in a Weatherspoons in my life. How on earth else would you mount a huge tv than on the wall?

3CustardCreams · 03/08/2024 21:25

Yabu. The bigger the better 😂

Glad its not just us watching on the small screen :)

Once you are watching, the size is not relevant, I find.

My DSIS in law was horrified when they came to stay as they are all used to a massive screen. But they have a bigger house than ours, so it fits OK.

Have a word with your fella. Seriously what was he thinking? He could have gone for an 75” easily if he shopped around. I don’t know how I would cope going sub 70” again.

Happyher · 03/08/2024 21:27

Can you build a cabinet round it -with doors to hide it!!

Yourethebeerthief · 03/08/2024 21:27

You have to be a certain distance away from televisions to view them properly. You can't just plonk a massive one in front of you and enjoy the picture.

Google viewing distances for different sized tvs. It likely won't even work in the space you have. People who genuinely care about viewing properly get the right sized tv for their space and sit the correct distance from it. None of this mounting it high up above a fireplace either.

dawngreen · 03/08/2024 21:28

Ask him if he needs his eyes testing lol.

gentileschi · 03/08/2024 21:28

Yanbu, I would hate that.

PointsSouth · 03/08/2024 21:30

Zanatdy · 03/08/2024 20:59

Oh god I hate huge TV’s in small rooms. Why do men want such a massive TV?

In our house, the insistence on a teeny-weeny, pointless TV comes from the male side of the marriage. As does the implacable resistance to a TV in the bedroom.

Twilightstarbright · 03/08/2024 21:31

Ooooh big tvs are great! We have a 60
inch and it’s awesome. FT job, long commute and DC mean I’m lucky if I get 30
mins tv a day but I love it, especially at the moment with the Olympics.

Marine30 · 03/08/2024 21:32

Remember when DH got a 55” and it felt like the lottery winners TV 😳 I did get used it it but 65 is another level. We put shelving around it and books which softened it.
You might need a bit of a library with a 65 incher though!

Lwrenn · 03/08/2024 21:33

Ffs I thought it was going to be about a penis.

Because I wanted to be the first to point out that on mumsnet we all have adonis husbands with six figure salaries and 65 inch penises and that's nothing special, @Itssobig! But bloody tvs, how boring 😴

AutumnCrow · 03/08/2024 21:35

Smash it in with a huge hammer, and dance in its remnants to New Orleans jazz eating battered haddock.

DandyClocks · 03/08/2024 21:35

Our tv isn’t that massive but it is wall mounted.
I sewed a cover from some pieces of fabric that fits over it in the daytime and hides it. Most visitors assume it’s some kind of wall hanging textile art as I have a lot of handmade textile pieces around the house. ☺️

Barnabyby · 03/08/2024 21:35

If you can have a massive one, why wouldn't you?

AutumnCrow · 03/08/2024 21:36

Now that, my friend, is fucking genius.
