Sorry if the title is slightly misleading! 😆

My partner has bought a 65 inch tv and it is bloody huge !

We are redecorating out living room and I was so excited that I could finally have my Neptune like room. Something stylish and calm and inviting.

I now have the monster on my wall ! And I have it :(

I now have no idea how to stylus around it !! Any ideas??

I am feeling unreasonably upset about this and I just can’t get over it.

our room is only 4m x 3.5m so not a large room at all

AIBU?

help me to her over it please or share tips to make the room work

This is what I want to know too. None the wiser after clicking on the Neptune link - a room that has furniture?

Edited

I'd assumed it was a room with a naked women in a seashell but realised that must be a Venus room

Crikey they know how to charge don't they? £100 for a cushion?

Silvers11 · 03/08/2024 21:59

We have a 55 inch screen and was a bit worried that it would be too big. You DO get used to them being bigger than previously and pretty quickly too, but yours is huge.

Interestingly, our TV is exactly the same as my Daughter's one and it looks much bigger in her house than in ours, so I understand where you are coming from, in trying to arrange the room so that it doesn't look so big. Ours is set at across a corner and daughter's is straight on to the room with the window behind it, but up on the wall, not much you can do about it

I'd have killed him, if my DH had done that to me

I can't imagine how a TV that large would fit in with a normal sized living room. I've got quite a large living room, and my 32" TV dominates the corner it lives in. Presumably you had a smaller one - can you not replace the new one with it?

32 inch “dominates “ your room ? Whete do you watch telly under the stairs?

OneNimbleFish · 03/08/2024 22:01

due to scaling of eg dvds etc i prefer medium sized tv's rather than overally large ones

Diyextension · 03/08/2024 22:03

Walked into costco the other day and saw this …..

100 Inch ………….GET IN !!!!!!!!!!!

It is so bloody big !!
GrandTheftWalrus · 03/08/2024 22:03

Our 40" broke and we had to use a 26" could barely see it and the 3yo was calling it the "tiny vt" I then bought a 50" and felt like I was sitting in the cinema. Now I'm used to it and want a bigger one!

AInightingale · 03/08/2024 22:04

Someone once openly laughed at my 32 inch TV. I don't care though.

Motheranddaughter · 03/08/2024 22:04

I would not be happy
Donr like big Tvs

WandaWanda · 03/08/2024 22:05

MagneticSquirrel · 03/08/2024 21:05

YABU it seems huge now, you’ll get used to it very quickly and being able to see all the details when watching sports and films!
Olympics on a big TV is great!

I can’t imagine going back to even a 48/50 inch tv now and I don’t even watch that much tv lol.

Agree!

F1 on a big tv is awesome and all the nature programmes - gardeners world is just wow!

I am truly puzzled by the responses here. Why are most of you focusing on the SIZE of the bloody TV - instead of the fact that he did not consider it necessary to DISCUSS such a major purchase... not only in terms of its effect on their shared living space but also the cost!

Nah. A TV's not a major purchase. Can't get that wound up about not being consulted.

A keema nan that I wasn't told about, when the OH knows I prefer peshwari - that's grounds for divorce.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 03/08/2024 22:10

We have quite a large TV and I wasn't very keen when we first had it but I don't particularly notice it now . Ours is in the corner rather than the middle of the room though and it might not be quite as big as yours .

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 03/08/2024 22:13

@Ovenon
Our TV is on a stand blue ray player and sky box underneath.

We went from a 32’’ which I was happy with to a 48’’ which seemed massive at first ! Our living room is on the smaller side so it felt too big ! Got used to it and am happy with it now ! Most houses I have been in recently have much larger tvs and they just dominate the whole room! Definitely b wouldn’t go any bigger than we have though DH would love a 60 +!

Bluebellsinthewind · 03/08/2024 22:17

I have so many questions

1 - what's a Neptune room?
2 - What happened with the pole valt man?

Also, I now totally want the Costco 100 inch TV Grin

At the moment we have a 60 inch. Love a big tv..

Willowkins · 03/08/2024 22:18

When we got a big TV we attached it to the wall so it was high up and I think that helps. Is it the kind where you can cast from your phone? I'm thinking Cat TV Fish might go with your theme. Oh I just saw it's a make of furniture and not undersea 😥

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 03/08/2024 22:18

AInightingale · 03/08/2024 21:42

What is a Neptune-like room?

I was picturing the room done out as if it was under the sea - like the corner of my primary school classroom! Having seen the link posted about the Neptune furniture, I guess I'm wrong.

It so isn't

Lovemycat2023 · 03/08/2024 22:22

This happened to me. In Covid times my OH bought a massive new TV. It didn’t even fit on the tv stand. I’m sort of used to it now but wouldn’t have chosen it.

ttcat37 · 03/08/2024 21:10

TV on the wall is the bigger offence here

Quite. I hope it’s not a party wall with the neighbours.

ALPHAFEMALESINCEBIRTH · 03/08/2024 22:23

you would love my house then

100"downstairs
3 bedrooms 85"
all 4K,smart tv and a firestick each tv

we have all the paid for services apps

we are major homebodies and home educators so its gets used for visual learning as well
boys are gamers
i love films, tv shows and wrestling

kids are 24/7 care so im housebound most of the time and a full time carer so decent tvs are needed

i looked in to bigger downstairs but it was stupid money

Loub55 · 03/08/2024 22:25

We went from a 40 inch to a 55 recently. It felt too big at first, but I've gotten used to it. Doubt I'd go any bigger tho in our lounge (7x5m).

We have it on an oak TV stand. I hate wall mounted TVs in living rooms, even worse when they are high up!

Gasp! Is there ever any quiet in your house?

Shan5474 · 03/08/2024 22:29

The only TV tip I have is to not put it above a fireplace unless you have a big room! I hate watching it now because my neck is at such an unnatural angle, I actually preferred it when it was on the floor before I put it up. I think mine is 50ish inches so you’d be looking up even higher with yours!

Oh actually I have another one. On YouTube there are videos of photos of art that change every 30 mins that can help to disguise it without needing a special TV. And in the winter crackling fire videos make the living room feel very cosy when you’re chatting
