Controlling for being angry at DH using oven

SharpOliveHam · 30/07/2024 13:32

Dh likes to eat healthily which means he never fries any food. Even the 1 cal spray is not acceptable. Fine.

But DH knows I’m very funny about the heat. Hate it and do very well to keep a cool house. I’m the person who goes around closing curtains, opening windows at the optimal time to keep things cool.

Just got off a work call to a sauna downstairs. DH has made himself a fry up (chicken sausages, egg, mushrooms, tomatoes). The kitchen is reading 26c - it was 22.5c when I looked at around 12 pm.

I told dh that this was really selfish behaviour. And now I’ve been called controlling.

AIBU?

Yes

Greytulips · 30/07/2024 13:33

Absolutely

Crystalselfcare · 30/07/2024 13:34

YABU and controlling

Timeisnevertimeatall · 30/07/2024 13:34

So can he never use the oven unless you 'let' him? I think that's actually the very definition of controlling.

ByCupidStunt · 30/07/2024 13:34

Yabu and controlling.

Sleepersausage · 30/07/2024 13:34

Are you insane? Buy a fan

Anonym00se · 30/07/2024 13:34

Wtf? He’s not allowed to cook a meal in your own kitchen? That is controlling. It’s not like he’s cranked the central heating up to 30 degrees. He’s prepared a meal!

TinyYellow · 30/07/2024 13:35

You are being controlling. You want him to either go hungry or eat something he doesn’t want so that you get your own way. That is the definition of controlling, and it’s selfish.

SharpOliveHam · 30/07/2024 13:35

Im doing everything in my power to keep the house cool. Not only for me but for dogs and he has just undone everything

The kitchen is there to be used and he is entitled to make a fry for himself in his own home. 26C is hardly a sauna.

I also love a cool house and despise the heat from the cooker but it doesn’t mean nobody can use it, that’s unreasonable. You do sound controlling.

hopeishere · 30/07/2024 13:36

Open the back door.

PetulantPenguin · 30/07/2024 13:36

I totally sympathise with your dislike of heat but yes you are being unreasonable and no I want a fry up. Double unreasonable 🤣

RisingSunn · 30/07/2024 13:36

Extremely controlling.
He must be walking on eggshells each time he makes a meal.

StormingNorman · 30/07/2024 13:36

This is bonkers. Of course you are controlling.

Greytulips · 30/07/2024 13:36

But a cool mat and let the dog in a room where the sun isn’t shining - ours would lie down in the hall to keep cool.

Id be more upset if I didn’t get any good!

PistachioFrapp · 30/07/2024 13:37

You sound controlling and unhinged.

Open windows, buy a fan, keep kitchen door closed but windows open to funnel heat away from the rest of the house.

The man is entitled to eat in his own house ffs.

CantDealwithChristmas · 30/07/2024 13:37

Er, it's a bit odd not gonna lie

Greytulips · 30/07/2024 13:37

Actually buy an airfrier - it’s quicker and cheaper to run and no where near the same heat

SharpOliveHam · 30/07/2024 13:37

Opening windows does absolutely no good. My house is or was cooler than outside.

MumChp · 30/07/2024 13:38

I would have used oven for a meal without any thoughts about heat.

Fan or windows open.

Blanketison · 30/07/2024 13:38

Behave OP! Also it’s probably warmer outside than it was at 12 o’clock. Poor sod.

FetchezLaVache · 30/07/2024 13:38

Get him an air fryer and issue him with a list of the times he is allowed to use it.

Deserthog · 30/07/2024 13:38

Yes you are controlling.

Houses get hot. It happens.

fridaynight1 · 30/07/2024 13:39

Yes very controlling.

SharpOliveHam · 30/07/2024 13:39

I had a ham sad for lunch precisely so I didn’t heat up house.

Im the one running around throwing frozen cold towels on dogs.
