Arse.

Fidgety31 · 05/07/2024 18:13

Yep and they have only been around a few weeks with Farage at the helm - just shows how many people do like them despite all the negative press .

vodkaredbullgirl · 05/07/2024 18:14

Wow 5 🙄

Greens have been around ages and got one less. It's concerning how such a new party could win so many seats in a system that historically doesn't help new or little parties

Hedgerow2 · 05/07/2024 18:18

And if we had proportional representation Farage says they would have 100 seats. Never heard a better reason to stick with first past the post.

I thought he really showed his true boorish self when faced with hecklers this afternoon.

I didnt vote Reform but you can't deny how popular they are in a very short space of time . They got significantly more votes than the Lib Dem's who have been around years .

Farage is friends with sex-traffickers and racists: what a legend.

Hedgerow2 · 05/07/2024 18:21

@marigoldandrose - I agree, very concerning. I went to our local hustings and the Reform candidate was an ignorant, bigoted, racist prat. Yet quite popular on local Facebook sites ☹️

Yes, Our system may be too much at one extreme, but pure PR gave Italy and Israel unstable governments with some awful leaders.

People love a chance to put others down, Reform is perfect for that. Your life’s shit it’s not your fault it’s immigrants, foreigners, gays (add anyone you want to have a shitty opinion about) just the same as Trump. Politicians who make it ok to say your nasty opinions out loud

Myahe · 05/07/2024 18:23

What's so awful about Reform?

Don't jump on me, I actually voted Green (a Labour MP took the seat, but happy with that) but I looked at all of the manifestos, I was surprised with how many good points Reform had, on the face of it.

I can see why they appealed.

lovelysunshine22 · 05/07/2024 18:24

Well this is a warning to Labour not to fuck around over the next few years if i ever saw one! It will be many more when they have had four years to organise and people have had to put up with 4 years of Labours sneering and patronising!

Hedgerow2 · 05/07/2024 18:24

@hattie43 - Popular they might be - but with people who are incapable of grasping that they have no workable policies. They just like a personality - such as Farage/Trump/Johnson. They think Starmer is boring because he doesn't provide any entertainment 🙄

I’ve had ‘fuck off Paki go back to your own country’ shouted at me one too many times in my life to think that people who are mates with out & out racists could possible be ok

So you think that the HUGE increase in immigration is not causing any issues at all in the country?

NecessaryNC24 · 05/07/2024 18:26

It's awkward to say but I do think Reform voters tend to be a bit thick, or at least don't think the policies through - more of a visceral reaction.

Indeed if people don’t feel a genuine improvement it will be Tory or reform next time I reckon. They don’t have long in the grand scheme to make people feel their lives have improved rather than just promises.

Time to get it done and show they mean it.

But I think that's exactly how Boris did so well . Politics is dull so along comes a character and people listen . Nigel is a good orator I'll give him that whereas Keir is so so monotone dull .

Read my next post & have a think about why I might have an issue with the type of environment parties like reform encourage

ExtraOnions · 05/07/2024 18:30

Looking forward to seeing their entries in the Register of Members interests.. can’t wait to see where their money is coming from.

The give our simple sound bites, for complicated issues, unfettered by the reality of making anything work. I’ll be stunned to see Farage or Tice doing any of the “grunt work” of being an MP .. regular local surgeries etc

Yep.

Farage is a racist and so is anyone who votes for him.

My only hope is that they all show themselves up in Parliament and voters realise Farage doesn't give a shit about them.

I'm really sorry you have to put up with racist abuse.

The HUGE increase is mainly from legal migration, brining in skills that our government has failed to grow from within our population. We also have a falling birthrate so we need immigration.
The problem is not immigration, it’s lack of investment in public services.

Depends if you want to be able to get healthcare or see a dentist, I guess. 🤷🏻‍♀️
