… to think this is ridiculous. (portion size)

I fancied a Chelsea bun from the bakery this morning so asked for one to be added to my bread order. Didn’t really think much about it.

When I got it home I was staggered by the size of it.

Is this really what passes for the one serving of cake for one person? I’ll eat about a quarter. It will be stale tomorrow so the birds will get the rest.

Unless you're annoyed at the price, isn't it better than it being too small?

Ohhelpicantthinkofaname · 26/06/2024 13:40

I could eat that easily. It’s not like you’ll be having one every day. Just enjoy it.

Janehasamane · 26/06/2024 13:40

It’s just a bun, the fact you can only eat a quarter is fairly irrelevant to the size they sell.

Elphame · 26/06/2024 13:41

It is 6 inches square and 3 inches deep!

Looks normal size too me, do you not eat many buns?

user1471538275 · 26/06/2024 13:41

where is this bakery? (asking for a friend)

FeetLing · 26/06/2024 13:42

My kind of cake size! YABU

AGodawfulsmallaffair · 26/06/2024 13:42

I’d eat that.

FinallyHere · 26/06/2024 13:42

Is it definitely intended as a single serving rather than feeding a whole family ?

Ginmonkeyagain · 26/06/2024 13:42

You got a large bun for £1.50 - where is the complaint exactly?

It is actually quite hard to make small Chelsea buns.

Lifelover16 · 26/06/2024 13:43

Looks fine to me - I’d scoff it with a cup of tea ( but only once in a while as a treat!)
Eat what you want and freeze the rest.

CoastalCalm · 26/06/2024 13:44

It’s similar to a large bread roll I’d say most people could eat that

Wideskye · 26/06/2024 13:44

I agree far too big.
Portion sizes of cakes etc are far too big in general.

More seriously, this is not a packaged processed food - it does not come with a 'portion size guide'.

It is up to each individual how much of it they choose to eat, dependent on their caloric needs.

Some people will eat the whole of it and thoroughly enjoy it, fitting it into their daily needs (or not).

Others will have a portion and then either share it with someone else or come back to it another day (or 5 minutes later)

Koolsgang · 26/06/2024 13:44

Not sure what your problem is here OP. It seems like a thinly veiled way of saying only fatties would eat the whole bun. Can you also not understand how people can finish an afternoon tea?

Blouson · 26/06/2024 13:45

Bargain!
People are fatter nowadays, they have to sell to what the demand is.

Stormyseasallround · 26/06/2024 13:45

Is this a humble brag about what a tiny appetite you have, and that that’s why other people are fat?

rewilded · 26/06/2024 13:45

Do we have a bun from the 1970s for comparison?

YourMommaWasASnowblower · 26/06/2024 13:46

I’d only be complaining about it if it was tiny and expensive.
Sounds like you’ve paid a fair price for a good sized cake. Enjoy it.

🤣🤣

Exactly how many portions can you get out of your roast chicken, OP?

bananaboats · 26/06/2024 13:46

Why did you buy it then? You surely saw what it looked like beforehand!
