To think that people who spend £45 on a Stanley cup need their heads examined?

More specifically for a primary aged child who is likely to lose or damage the cup? £45? Absolute madness. Some parents just can’t seem to see their kids go without the latest trend.

Are they “nice”? Round here they’re owned by the fishlip brigade. Not something most of us aspire to.

Very unpleasant comment. Never understood how grown women still feel the need to insult the looks of others like secondary school teenagers. When do you grow out of it?

Jennyathemall · 07/06/2024 16:02

Totally agree and I totally judge anyone who buys one for their kids.

Those ones on TikTok are NOT genuine! 😂 I have one direct from Stanley and you can see the differences. The logo is slightly off and not in the same place. Also the handle is a slightly different shape

I mean if you say so 🤷 the handle is the exact same shape and the logo is in the exact same place. If they are fakes then they are completely indistinguishable from the "real" ones. And they do the exact same thing.

thanKyouaIMee · 07/06/2024 12:50

Nah, I've got loads and my head is perfectly fine! Would also buy for a child 😂

My water intake has never been so good! It's also a fantastic thing to take on a walk, packs a punch so a great defence item haha

This. I don’t know what it is about this bottle and not others but it is the only thing that’s impacted how much I drink (I think it’s a combination of size, straw and handle).

But I have a lot of spare income. £45 on a water bottle that I use regularly for even a year is a good buy for me.

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 07/06/2024 16:08

I wish the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup. I’d gladly pay 45 to see that!!

That’s obviously not what you meant but that’s where my mind went when I read the thread title 😅

Anyhow… Why shouldn’t a child have one? Especially if it helps with water intake?

Wowsers 😢

CoastalCalm · 07/06/2024 16:10

Love mine , was a gift but I’d been planning on buying one anyway as staying hydrated is a big deal to me

only snag is that it doesn’t fit my car cup holder - might need to change my car

EnolaJ · 07/06/2024 16:12

I paid £38 for mine so I'm obviously completely exempt from this judgement

Winning in both pounds and cold refreshing beverages 😏😂

earlymorningcurlewcall · 07/06/2024 16:14

They're just so unfathomably large. Stanley cups are a no from me.

They have a more thermos-looking bottle that comes in a nice pastel green. However, the lid is annoying and you can't operate it with a single hand.

whataloadofhotair · 07/06/2024 14:38

Would everyone saying people can spend their money however they want also have the same view on school fees? There seems to be a lot of spite against parents who pay school fees and yet someone can't say you need your head examined for paying £45 on a water bottle???

No Stanley Cup owners are suggesting trying to hog every water fountain when they don't need a drink because it's not fair that non Stanley owners get water for free whilst they choose to pay £45 extra, though.

I had to google because I know it as the ice hockey thing!

I came on to ask where the hell did OP get Stanley Cup tickets for $45!!!!

PerfectTravelTote · 07/06/2024 16:20

I predict that this time next year charity shops will be full of stanley cups.

Haha, in reality people judge each other all the time.

TheChosenTwo · 07/06/2024 16:25

I haven’t seen one person in real life with one! I don’t even really see them splashed about on Instagram now.
I don’t really have a need for one, I wfh and have access all day to fresh water and if I go out somewhere I can last an hour or 2 without a drink if necessary.
It’s good to be hydrated of course but we really don’t need to be sipping permanently!

Ice hockey trophy or a overpriced over hyped over sized sippy cup.

CatamaranViper · 07/06/2024 16:40

Wasn't there an identical thread but about Airup bottles a year ago?.

Deargodletitgo · 07/06/2024 16:41

Don't they leak?

They are tik Tok American soccer sad mum cool...

Very ohio

KreedKafer · 07/06/2024 16:46

Who gives a shit what other people spend their money on?

If spending £45 means going without essentials like food and utilities, then obviously it would be nuts to spend it on a Stanley cup. But if people have £45 they can spend without worrying about it, spending it on a Stanley cup (or anything else) doesn't mean they 'need their heads examined'.

I wouldn't spend £45 on a Stanley cup but I will happily spend £45 on a meal in a restaurant, or three cocktails in a nice bar. People like different things. If someone likes something and can afford it, it's not a waste of money for them to buy it.

Edited

They do, but if they're judging something that's harmless and doesn't affect them in any way, they usually have the good grace to keep that judgement to themselves. Unless they're a twat.

To be honest I've never seen anybody with over in real life either. Yet I own 2, my ten daughter owns two, my sisters both have one.... but none of us cart them around with us. We leave them at home/work unless we are going away in which case we take them to use in the hotel room as I can stand those piddly little cups

Sue152 · 07/06/2024 17:04

I don't understand people carrying this huge sippy cup around with them everywhere - it looks like it's the size of a kettle. Why would you carry that around all day? To me it's just another bizarre fad that people will spend lots of money on and then will be in the back of the cupboard when it stops being a trend and people realise it's actually ridiculous.

HeChokedOnAChorizo · 07/06/2024 17:08

Never heard of them, had to google it. They are very fugly and not for me but can’t get worked up about what other people buy for themselves or their kids. It’s their money to spend how they want.

Which is why I wouldn’t say it to a person in RL but on an anonymous forum we can be more honest.
