To think that people who spend £45 on a Stanley cup need their heads examined?

More specifically for a primary aged child who is likely to lose or damage the cup? £45? Absolute madness. Some parents just can’t seem to see their kids go without the latest trend.

It's less about the money, more about the sheep-like need for whatever emperor's new clothes item that the 'influencers' are touting.
If someone feels that £45 is an acceptable about to pay for a portable drink carrier, well, a fool and their money are soon parted. If they pay £20 for a rip-off similar in poundland, so what? In both instances, it merely shows herd-mentality and lack of individualism.
Some pay £1000s to have cosmetic surgery in Harley Street. Some pay less in Turkey. Either way, the result is ridiculous

People can spend their money on whatever they like

For Pete's sake 😂 Almost half of Mumsnet now is posters telling other people they shouldn't have thoughts, views or opinions!

What the ever-loving fuck are you doing on a DISCUSSION forum if you disapprove so violently of discussion? 🤣🤣

Had to google these - no idea they were a thing. Really impressed though that drinking water has become a thing - better than those big cups of fizzy crap from McDonald’s. I’ve been given a couple of chilli bottles, they keep water cool too but the screw top annoys me.

I am most surprised by people who had to google what they are, they have been in the mainstream for at least a year now, how have you avoided hearing about them, and what else do you not know about?

I only became aware of them. Or the cost at least. Around 2 months ago when a child in my class was excited to he getting one for her main birthday present.

A water bottle!

Stanley are a great brand, but the current fad for carrying around their enormous sippy cups is comical. They aren't practical, can't be dropped in a handbag, get in the way if you need 2 hands for something and look ridiculous, as does the person sucking on it, like having a giant dummy. They are a really bad choice for school water bottles for all the above reasons as well as taking up more space on a desk and frequently spilling everywhere.

Nobody needs to carry around a day's supply of water in one go in daily life.

However, social media fashions are always impractical and stupid, so I guess this one will pass like most do.

😂 You sound angry! Exceptionally angry

I thought of this thread at the weekend as I saw a woman who had a cover for her Stanley that had a pocket for her phone. So her water cup has in effect become her handbag. Not sure if that makes it better or worse OP 😂

Pigeonqueen · 10/06/2024 22:29

Just incase anyone is interested- Stanley have a sale on today and many of the cups are 30-50% off 🤣😁

I don't understand anyone buying a drinks bottle of any variety, nor bottled water, but each to their own.

You’ve heard of going hiking for the day right? How would you think someone would take enough liquid with them for their day hiking without a water bottle?

We use bottles for days out anywhere you can’t easily just go and get a drink of water from a tap. How on earth can you not understand that. It’s hardly a new concept!
