Is this colder than most ‘junes’? So miserable

No money to go abroad. No money to put heating on. Struggling to afford indoor activities for dd and just wanted some time outdoors in the sun. It feels like this is the coldest June I can remember? I also don’t get how this fits with global warming… though I expect I am missing how that works? Just so fed up of being cold, for literally nearly a year now!

It does seem unusually cold , I have barely worn my summer clothes yet. It fits with global warming because it is actually climate change, not everywhere will get hotter, some places will get cooler and wetter.

CaptainHaddocksPychotherapist · 07/06/2024 07:37

Put yourselves in jumpers and coats and go for a walk/play in thee park

I fail to understand why people do not see walking as acceptable when it's cold

Turnthelightoff · 07/06/2024 07:39

It shouldn’t feel this cold in June anyway, let alone get to June and feel like we’ve not yet managed any sort of decent run of nice weather days. There have been some odd nice days but nothing in a run it feels.

icallitasplodge · 07/06/2024 07:40

It may be warmer but rain more so feel colder.

its becoming a little like a tropical climate at times i feel. The mugginess is the thing.

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 07/06/2024 07:41

I’m loving it. Dreading the heat.

I’m sorry people are struggling though, I can’t imagine having the heating on. All doors and windows open this morning, bedrooms already warming up.

Willmafrockfit · 07/06/2024 07:43

it is strange, i have not put summer clothes on very much, a couple of times , on my phone memories come up from other years, on the beach in swimming costumes etc.,

DataPup · 07/06/2024 07:44

It was 11 degrees here at Midday on Tuesday. Definitely not June weather. My plants aren't enjoying it either

Sallysoup · 07/06/2024 07:45

I think so. I've had the heating on and still wearing my oodie in the evening. Still sleeping in joggers and a jumper! It's depressing.

Our house needs a good few days of sun on the windows to really warm up, so even when it's mild and cloudy the house feels chilly.

BigPandaTinyDragon · 07/06/2024 07:46

@CaptainHaddocksPychotherapist I should think she’s sick of doing that, plus it’s wet at some point most days and I’m sure I’m not the only one tired of dodging the showers.

OP I’m with you, it’s been a year of damp miserable weather and every time it looks like it will get warmer it doesn’t seem to last. I don’t want a heatwave, just a bit of sunshine!

Global warming is a hard sell round here.

FuzzyPuffling · 07/06/2024 07:46

It's been warm ( 24°) and sunny here in SW Devon. T shirts and shorts weather for days.
The kids over the road have been in their massive paddling pool every day.

Mnetcurious · 07/06/2024 07:50

It’s definitely unusually cold for June. I was wearing my winter coat to work in London earlier this week! Also felt like I wanted to put the heating on (I didn’t). You should still get out of the house though, just wrap up a bit.

TheRomanticOutlaw · 07/06/2024 07:54

It's unusual. Usually in late May/June a sunny day automatically means a warm day, as in 20 degrees or above, but yesterday in Cardiff it was quite chilly despite the sun. Sat on a bench in the full sun at 5pm and was too cold to just be in a T-shirt, I had to put a hoodie on cos the breeze was really quite cold.

Tell me you're not in the n.e. without saying you're not in the n.e.

7c this morning. Even when it's been sunny with wind has been Baltic.

Willmafrockfit · 07/06/2024 07:56

it has had warm spells, so hot at some points in the day, 21st June is midsummer!

dimsumfatsum · 07/06/2024 07:57

We're Greater London and we've had scorching weather the last couple of years. This cool weather seems so strange.

WittiestUsernameEver · 07/06/2024 07:59

We've had the heating on in the last week 🥶
And also at night it's still chilly.

We went on holiday last half term, and the same week was glorious last year, and the year before etc.

Definitely not imagining it, as have photos to prove it!

But, hey, today looks like it is lovely!

Wheredidileavemycarkeys · 07/06/2024 07:59

It’s been warm where I live (south east) but it keeps raining :(

JanglyBeads · 07/06/2024 07:59

Warming temperatures disrupt the Polar Vortex which pushes cold air into different areas than normal, apparently.

This is one of the reasons why the term Climate Change is used now rather than Global Warming.

Droolylabradors · 07/06/2024 08:04

I'm delighted with this weather. Its hot enough and sunny enough to sit out in by the afternoon, but cold and crisp at night so amazing sleep with all the windows open. Heaven.

CrunchyCarrot · 07/06/2024 08:05

Feels like it has been, my plant seedlings aren't as advanced as normally and I've not been able to plant out my indoor grown ones as yet, still too cold at night.

Not really the point is it ? Who wants to wear jumpers in June.

TheChosenTwo · 07/06/2024 08:06

We’ve been trying organise an outdoor birthday get together/bbq and eventually opted for tomorrow. Now set to rain and be about 15 degrees.
So that’s 40 people to have inside the house for a ‘summer get together’ which will be… fun. We’ve now pushed the time back though, it was meant to be from late afternoon and now we’ve made it evening only.
We should be able to sit outside in June!!!

lollipoprainbow · 07/06/2024 08:07

The evenings are unusually chilly. Where are the warm evenings ?!
