Is this colder than most ‘junes’? So miserable

No money to go abroad. No money to put heating on. Struggling to afford indoor activities for dd and just wanted some time outdoors in the sun. It feels like this is the coldest June I can remember? I also don’t get how this fits with global warming… though I expect I am missing how that works? Just so fed up of being cold, for literally nearly a year now!

It's much easier to warm yourself up if too cold, than cool yourself down if too hot.

I disagree. I feel the cold easily, and once I am chilled I struggle to get warm.

It has definitely been heating on weather where I live @Glitterblue

This week's weather:
Monday 13 degrees, rain
Tuesday 12 degrees, cloudy
Wednesday 14 degrees, cloudy
Thursday 14 degrees, rain
Friday 16 degrees, showers, then heavy rain
Saturday 15 degrees, rain. Due to have a local event in the village. It might get cancelled
Sunday 16 degrees, showers

It's utterly, utterly depressing. I'm fed up with wearing jumpers and trousers/jeans. I want to wear summer dresses and sandals. I want to dry my washing outside

MsLuxLisbon · 10/06/2024 22:30

I'm very tired of it, but I just read an article that said it should be nicer at the end of next week and also predicting a much warmer July. I think that I would rather have a miserable June and a decent July and August than the other way around.

Toomanysquishmallows · 11/06/2024 06:27

It’s the wind and rain that’s getting to me , we don’t seem to have had a totally dry day for ages .

mydogisthebest · 11/06/2024 06:46

I don't like heatwaves either but I do like warm sunny days where I can actually wear summer clothes and not winter clothes still

Disturbia81 · 11/06/2024 07:20

I've definitely never experienced this before. Never been cold in June. This is usually the hot one nevermind warm. Never experienced cold brisk winds like this

BigDahliaFan · 11/06/2024 07:21

Biting wind. This morning, everything in the garden looks cold and wary ….

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 11/06/2024 08:17

I suspect we’ll revert towards the mean later in summer, and experience some stinky hot days, gardens drying out, wildfires etc.

One of the things climate change feels like it does is make the weather more unstable and whiplash more between “extremes”.

lollipoprainbow · 11/06/2024 08:19

June is always a hit and miss month weather wise. DD's birthday is June and we've had blistering heat and wind and rain ! I've never known it as cold as this though.

BigDahliaFan · 11/06/2024 09:39

Cold days in June happen, but this consistent coldness is not something I remember. A picture of me swimming in the Irish sea in 11 June 2019 popped us a memory for me today. And I'm a 'nesh' swimmer.

LuckySantangelo35 · 11/06/2024 10:14

It’s so awful 😢 so cold 🥶

Springchickenonion · 11/06/2024 18:14

I put the heating on for an hour today. I was frozen. We don't get any sun in the house. So to be fair it's quote chilly even in the height of summer!

SquirrelSoShiny · 17/06/2024 10:04

The cold is utterly miserable at the minute. I feel like crying to be honest. Heating on last night.

Crikeyalmighty · 17/06/2024 10:58

Well we've actually had sun today and ooh it feels about 17 degrees- scorching!! I'm not betting on it not raining this afternoon though !

xxSideshowAuntSallyxx · 17/06/2024 11:02

We have sun at last. My washing is out, the cats keep trying to drag me out but I'm working and can't see the screen or do my 121s outside otherwise I'd be out there making the most of it.

Oblomov24 · 17/06/2024 11:57

The shit weather has really got me down this year.

Has anyone read the thread "Anyone else loving this weather?"

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/_chat/5094842-anyone-else-loving-the-weather?page=1

Yes. Normally I’m very tolerant of different opinions and don’t expect to understand why other people may like something I don’t, but I’m going to make an exception for this one tbh
