That women should not have to share changing rooms with men

This is absolutely horrific and probably the first of many cases we will see now. Please read the article in full but this alone is appalling. The response by their HR should be noted because that is what is going to happen to every woman who complains about this if we keep allowing these fraudulent men to get away with what they want.

One of the nurses told The Mail on Sunday: 'We don't feel safe because we strip down to our underwear and [the individual] doesn't just stay by his locker. 'He walks around the changing room in his boxer shorts.'
Another nurse said she was 'close to tears' during one incident in the changing room.
She said: 'I was rummaging in my bag trying to find my lanyard and keys for the locker when a man's voice behind me said, 'Are you not getting changed yet?' 'I found my keys and opened my locker and I was asked again, 'Are you not getting changed yet?'.'
The woman, who was sexually abused as a child, has posttraumatic stress disorder and struggles to be alone around men. She said: 'He stood there, two metres away from me, with a scrub top on and with tight black boxer shorts with holes in them and asked a third time whether I was getting changed yet.
'Flight or fight mode kicked in but I felt glued to my seat, I could not move. 'My hands started to sweat. I was petrified and felt sick and began hyperventilating.'
In March, 26 nurses wrote to management saying that the transgender nurse 'has made no secret' of the fact that 'he has stopped taking female hormones and is trying to inseminate his female partner'.
AIBU to suggest NOW is the time to wake up, en masse and stop allowing BE KIND to be a mantra that allows predatory men access to women at their most vulnerable.

Of course it's not right. But watch while certain posters try to defend what this predatory man has been facilitated to do

"But a human resources manager at the hospital trust allegedly said that the female nurses need to 'be more inclusive', 'broaden their mindset' and 'be educated and attend training'.

So waste money on training female staff to re-educate our stupid female minds to accept a man with a penis is a woman. In the NHS. Where bodies matter.

It’s appalling for women to be put in this position and supposedly be the ones who need more education. No woman, for any reason, should have to share space with a man with a penis regardless of however they choose to identify. Those who speak up are accused of intolerance or transphobia, it’s frightening. I will never share a space meant for women only with men with penises and I’ll be teaching my DD that she does not to either. These nurses must be supported.

makeanddo · 26/05/2024 15:23

Well of course it's not acceptable however this is what you will get with Labour. They are planning to simplify the process, self id by the back door.

So coming soon to your area will be men in womens:

Changing rooms, hospital wards, prisons, refuges, sports teams, in fact any current female only space.

They won't even need to put a dress on!

Women are entitled to protection under The Equality Act. This man does not have this same right as he has not undergone reassignment surgery, which would give him a protected characteristic. Why can't men like this use the men's changing rooms. This whole issue is a male issue and the male sex class need to find solutions to some men apparently not feeling safe in male spaces. Women have a right to safety. The sooner this ridiculous load of shit is over the better. Then we can get real about male violence, autogynophilia, porn culture and male coercion.

BeaFuddled · 26/05/2024 15:29

YANBU and we need to get very vocal about this. All of us.

That's what happened to me when I raised a concern at my employer - NHS hospital - the response was that I needed to go on training to better understand the needs of trans people. No one gives a shit about the needs of the female people.

I’m a TERF but have to point out that you’re incorrect. Gender reassignment protection does not require any surgery to have taken place, no medication to have been taken or any steps taken to change anything physical. it takes a Gender Recognition certificate, of which few are applied for each year, and even that wouldn’t give the older the right to be in an opposite sex changing room.

SneezedToothOut · 26/05/2024 15:33

I’m ex-NHS HR and can promise this shit isn’t happening in the Trust I worked for.

Unfortunately (in my view), you don't need to have surgery to be under the Protected Characteristic of gender reassignment (and the vast majority of TW don't have surgery, estimated 95% don't). You just need to intend to transition, no definition of what transition consists of.

However, the PC doesn't say TW have to be treated the same as women, just that they can't be treated worse than men. So eg of men aren't allowed in the changing room, not allowing TW in there isn't treating them worse. But Stonewall et al have been very successful in training NHS and other institutions that the law is what they want it to be, not what it actually is. And who loses out - women, of course, who cares about those bigots?

It absolutely is happening in my Trust. The written policy is explicit, TW can use the changing rooms of their choice as soon as they 'socially transition' ie as soon as they say magic words. Managers have to support them and female staff will not be listened to as they're no better than racists if they object, and must be sent on training to change their views. That's the policy.

Absolutely. How did we get to a position where anyone speaking the truth that a man with a penis is a man is accused of being transphobic bigot who needs reeducation as to why women should just accept seeing naked bollocks in female charging rooms without any fuss and to #bekind.

It fucking outrages me that 51% of the population are told we’re wrong not to bend over backwards to accommodate the delusions men with a fetish.

Yanbu op

gocompare · 26/05/2024 15:57

It's disgusting. It makes even less sense for the NHS to back this as they need to work based on biology to treat people.

The fact that people can just pick and choose what they want to identify with on a day in day out basis and it might change from one day to the next and it's all nonsense.

I have been on here for about 10 years and it was here that opened my eyes to all of this and I still can't work out how long ago this all started to creep in.

Who started all this and how did it get as far as it has based on someone's imagination and feelings?

How did we get to a point where we are being told to accept someone else's alternative reality when it suits in case we upset them over our safety.

I wonder if those that come up with these rulings in the workplace would be happy to put this into practice in their own working lives plus endure the scenario by being asked by a man why you aren't getting changed Infront of him.

Itwasabrightcoldayinapril · 26/05/2024 16:03

We should not have to share any of our spaces with men. Fck Labour for making it worse - they’ve said men can call / go online to a gp, and get a legal ‘change of sex’. In effect Self Id. Dangerous. Hideous. Labour are awful.

Toilets / changing rooms/ dv centres, rape centres, sports, female awards, scholarships etc etc. Women only.

look at this from a mixed toilet. Fcking disgusting. Labour will make it worse.

That women should not have to share changing rooms with men
ButterCrackers · 26/05/2024 16:05

The NHS and every place should offer individual changing areas for women who don’t want a man or man saying that they are a woman in their changing room space.

NachoHat · 26/05/2024 16:08

This will happen more and more when Labour are in power. So many women will realise that this isn't by any means a 'single non-important voting issue' but rather something that will infect many areas of their lives, including in settings where they are most vulnerable.

Those poor nurses. This is horiffic. Anyone know if we can do any gardening anywhere?

The Tory interns are out in force today I see.

Hiw they turn everything into a thread about labour being bad (and not a fan of them or tories tbh) is a work of creative mastery.

StirlingMallory · 26/05/2024 16:19

For what it's worth I agree wholeheartedly. Feel like I've been screaming into the void about this for 5 years or more. Reluctantly had to leave twitter because it was making me ill. I admire so much the women standing up against this insanity on our behalf day in and day out.
