That women should not have to share changing rooms with men

This is absolutely horrific and probably the first of many cases we will see now. Please read the article in full but this alone is appalling. The response by their HR should be noted because that is what is going to happen to every woman who complains about this if we keep allowing these fraudulent men to get away with what they want.

One of the nurses told The Mail on Sunday: 'We don't feel safe because we strip down to our underwear and [the individual] doesn't just stay by his locker. 'He walks around the changing room in his boxer shorts.'
Another nurse said she was 'close to tears' during one incident in the changing room.
She said: 'I was rummaging in my bag trying to find my lanyard and keys for the locker when a man's voice behind me said, 'Are you not getting changed yet?' 'I found my keys and opened my locker and I was asked again, 'Are you not getting changed yet?'.'
The woman, who was sexually abused as a child, has posttraumatic stress disorder and struggles to be alone around men. She said: 'He stood there, two metres away from me, with a scrub top on and with tight black boxer shorts with holes in them and asked a third time whether I was getting changed yet.
'Flight or fight mode kicked in but I felt glued to my seat, I could not move. 'My hands started to sweat. I was petrified and felt sick and began hyperventilating.'
In March, 26 nurses wrote to management saying that the transgender nurse 'has made no secret' of the fact that 'he has stopped taking female hormones and is trying to inseminate his female partner'.
AIBU to suggest NOW is the time to wake up, en masse and stop allowing BE KIND to be a mantra that allows predatory men access to women at their most vulnerable.

This is terrible and I hope the nurses get the justice they deserve.

@WandsOut

It's because it's complicated and people don't get it like the post office scandal. It's been bubbling away for years and brexit, covid, col crisis, Ukraine etc dominate our airways.

I mostly ignored the threads about jk Rowling on here until one day something drew my interest in and I was educated. If I wasn't on mn I would have no idea...

My Co workers have absolutely no idea, my female friends have no idea at all...

Which is why we do need threads and someone for speak out clearly about it.

The NHS has gone utterly mad. I'm disgusted and as someone with pcos, excess hair etc I had no support at all.

Fun fact - if you are a male 'transitioning' to female you can get your laser hair removal on the NHS. If you're a woman with excess hair due to PCOS, you can't.

Votersswing · 26/05/2024 21:26

I know.

It's beyond me awful, some women are transitioning when they don't want too.

Of course the other solution would be to subvert the trans ideology completely. How?

There's no reason why changing rooms should be designated as 'men' and 'women'.

We could cure this problem at a stroke by designating them as rooms for 'penis havers' and 'non-penis havers'.

And why stop at changing rooms? We could do it for prisons too. Let's see how many of the gender cosplay hobbyists are really committed to the anatomy of their chosen gender.

Can you imagine the dissonance that would arouse in the minds of the ideologically captured?

Sarah Jane Baker doesn't have a penis any more. Still a violent male sex offender I don't want to share single sex spaces with. Debbie Hayton has written openly about being AGP and has had the op.

I think part of the misunderstanding of trans is that people (especially men) think that males won't wear dresses, make up etc and especially won't have their meat and/or two veg removed, unless they are really 'born in the wrong body' and therefore should be pitied and accommodated as they have suffered extremely. But that's not true. There plenty of evidence of dangerous predators and/or fetishists who do so.

Anyone who has or has ever had a penis, needs to stay out of anything which is for women.

Both types of people exist. Your first category cannot believe their luck in getting so many useful idiots to believe they're the second category.

That's a whole new level of wrong.

Labour think they are clever with their 'same sex' narrative but WE SEE YOU.

If labour were at all clever they would ditch this indoctrinated narrative and start listening to the majority of this country - right now. It would boost their election campaign no end.

wellington77 · 26/05/2024 21:57

I thought legally , employers had to provide a single sex changing room / loos or somewhere with cubicles if not possible, or have I got this wrong? Therefore has the NHS broken the law?

It's a mess. The law says you can, but doesn't say you have to. And public institutions have been trained by the likes of Stonewall to 'get ahead of the law' and allow self ID. So there are lots of HR, DEI and board level/director types with power in NHS etc who fully believe that it is against the law to stop any man who says the magic words from using women's single sex spaces anytime he wants to.

I recently raised (yet another) concern at my Trust and the Trust put in writing in their reply that the Equality Act says they have to treat transpeople as their self identified gender. The Equality Act doesn't say that, but lots of people in positions of influence either believe it does, or say it does because that fits with their beliefs.

They are banking on low levels of awareness of what they're doing. So far, I'd have to say that strategy is working

Oh what a nightmare, so essentially does that mean the nurses don’t have a legal leg to stand on as the NHS don’t have to provide single sex changing rooms if they don’t want to?

IANAL but I think the leg they have to stand on is that it's called a women's changing room, but the hospital are allowing a male to use it. So telling women with trauma, religious needs, and just women who plain don't want to share with men for privacy and dignity that it's one thing, but in reality it's another. As those women aren't making an informed choice to change in a mixed changing room.

And possibly it's indirect discrimination on the grounds of sex and of religion or belief, as women and religious people are being disadvantaged as their protected needs under the Equality Act aren't being met.

As I say, not a lawyer though!

I don't know whether this is undermining the message, but there are NO male sex offenders held in the women's prison estate. The rules were changed in February 2023 (on the back of some excellent campaigning and awareness raising by KPSS). Transwomen charged with or convicted of violent or sexual offences will automatically go to the male estate. Transwomen who have been charged with a nonviolent, non-sexual offence will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and will generally go to male prisons anyway because...they're men.

This didn't come about through government diktat, but by some forthright policy writing in the MoJ.

Not sure it’s the same in Scotland ?

makeanddo · 26/05/2024 22:40

Unfortunately sex isn't defined as biological sex although historically there is a common understanding on what it means. Unfortunately this common decency and understanding has been taken advantage of and now sex means anyone who says they a certain sex just based on feelz.

It's a bit like 'we won't raise taxes', tax for most people means income tax and NI so they sigh with relief, however tax actually means any tax and we're gonna drain every last drop out of you.

We need to start asking for absolute specifics sadly all tbe Oxbridge graduates in the media do t want to ask or question properly. It's like a sixth form debate.

WandsOut · 26/05/2024 23:10

"They are banking on low levels of awareness of what they're doing. So far, I'd have to say that strategy is working" @TheKeatingFive especially when posters in here say things like YABU for posting.

I would ask every mother who sees an article like this post it in the main forums now to raise awareness. It's not fair for JKR, Posie Parker, Julie Bindel, Helen Joyce, Helen Stanisland, Rhona Hotchkiss, Shereen Benjamin, Jane Claire Jones, Maya Forstater, The Legal Feminist team, Rosie Duffield etc and all these other women being constantly threatened to do all the heavy lifting. Every single one of us is affected if men are allowed to say they are whatever they want to be.

I wish more women understood that voyeurism and cross dressing in women's spaces are massive porn fetishes. The naivety of some of the people on threads like this is breathtaking and quite frankly disturbing.

We have to come together, whatever political side you are on, to turn this safeguarding nightmare around.

This is a horrifying story and a complete erosion of womens rights. Anyone pushing back gets accused of being transphobic when its actually about women wanting to feel safe and comfortable.

Why do the feelings of the transgender women trump the womens?

Edited

Because they're men, the special sacred caste of men. This movement to strip women of our rights would never have taken off if anyone had believed these men were women.

Well it's a bit of a mess all over. Not just Scotland.
If you have a grc, you are legally a woman and by magic can go in the female estate and be classed as female.
If you dont have grc, but still insist you are female, some pontificating by men will see you in the female estate anyway because feelings or something.

The prison service havent been forthcoming about how many males might be in the female estate because they have a grc.

tiggergoesbounce · 27/05/2024 08:34

That's not true though. The Tories ARE better than Labour on this particular issue as Labour is going to make it even easier than it is already for any male who wants a GRC and therefore access to women's spaces to get one

I disagree, we are under a tory government where these things are already happening and I don't believe for one second if they got in again, they would stop men in women spaces, it is already happening now, under their watch - why are they allowing this ?? They have had time to stop this and haven't, so no, their lies continue.

All these stories being published are happening because the tories are allowing it - they are no better at all

Yes but a GRC will be MORE easy to procure under Labour and therefore these kind of instances will become more and more common.

Do you understand the difference between how one gets a GRC now and the changes Labour will be bringing in?

This isn’t true. A GRC doesn’t give you carte blanche to women’s spaces. The Equality Act still allows same sex spaces which disallow men with and without GRCs.

unfortunately Stonewall law has bastardised this (literally).

Naunet · 27/05/2024 09:34

It’s pure male supremacy, supported by a ridiculous number of dick panderers. I can’t believe this is where we are in 2024, a woman who has PTSD being sexually harassed by a man in the womens changing area, fully supported by management. Revolting. We’re living in a porn fuelled world.

I think the legislation is so soft / lacking clarity that we don’t really know where men with GRCs are in or out.

Hence court cases for much of this stuff.

More shocking is that they don’t seem to have been able to go to their Union for help (trades unions being captured wholesale).
