To wonder why some women Aren’t upset about men being in their safe spaces?

Why would we make it easier for men to be in our safe spaces? Don’t twist my words. This is not about being anti trans women - this is about men not being in women’s safe spaces. Why should women have to allow men in so as to ‘save their feelings’? What about women’s safety, feelings and wishes?

Given stories such as these - examples only but they quite clearly demonstrate the issue. As if anyone needs this. The stats are easily available.

And now the disappointing John Lewis (aka Stonewall) disaster.

Who puts women first, apart from JKR and friends. It’s a limited list.

I'm curious as to what you think you're going to get out of this thread that you didn't get from your many others on the same subject.

Wondering if it’ll be the same results - without the stress people seemed to put on source. And without political party influence (which I had added before). This is really what it’s all about. Men in women’s safe spaces. Stripped back. Remove the politics and what do we have.

Oh is this a TAAT?

I was just coming in to say that where I live, Brighton, as long as forty years ago, gay men used the women’s loos in nightclubs and nobody batted an eyelid.

I certainly couldn’t get remotely excited about a trans woman being in there. Lots of loos are unisex now anyway.

You will have to educate me. TAAT - What does that mean?

I’ve never felt the need for a ‘safe space’? Women need to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and needing protecting.

Prizefighter · 15/02/2024 21:46

YANBU OP. The only people this casual about men in women's spaces are naïve. Insanely ludicrously finger-in-ears naive.

ApolloandDaphne · 15/02/2024 21:46

I don't give a shit tbh. I don't have a need for a safe space, whatever that means . I am happy to live and let live.

Consent isn't yours to give away, no matter how fine you are with it. Plenty of women don't want males, no matter how they identify or how pure their intentions are, in their bathrooms for various reasons. The fact they have to even give a fucking reason is ridiculous. But that's where we are now.

Be kind innit.

Sorry if I’ve missed something in the article but what does that horrific stalking case got to do with safe spaces?

Safe, without men, comfortable etc. It’s not just ‘safety’. I personally don’t want to eg. get undressed in a changing room with a random man in there. Whoever he is. I don’t want my young daughters to either.

I don’t really understand the voting - is it YABU, I don’t mind trans women using women’s loos etc? YANBU I don’t want trans women using women’s loos etc?

Or are you asking if male violence against women is wrong?

Jesus. The selfishness.

Im glad you’re comfortable sharing loos with men. I’m not. With very good reason. But I’ll just stay home shall I.

It’s an example of a predatory male. The other was an example of the number of males who killed females, in the U.K. in a year. These are just examples of the male violence vs female issue, which people seem to ignore. There are thousands more examples, along with lots more data.

The thing is, consent isn't relevant when it comes to who is sharing a public space with you though. No-one actually needs your consent to go into a public toilet which you happen to be in.

Rape crisis, domestic violence shelters, womens own bodies when they need intimate care for a few examples.

Because what you posted about is a horrific crime and really really disgusting policing but it still has nothing to do with your thread title.
