To be sick of vapes everywhere

I can’t seem to go anywhere these days without a white cloud of disgusting candy flavoured vapour being blown in my face. It’s gotten to a point where I truly believe that it’s worse than smoking - at least most smokers are well aware that it’s an anti-social behaviour and do it away from other people, and outdoors! With vapers there seem to be absolutely no boundaries or thought that not everyone wants to be covered in their chemical smoke.

Absolutely horrible habit that’s catching on to far too many young children. A ban can’t come soon enough - even my 19 year old DD is sick of her friends being addicted to them. They’re like dummies in some cases, never out of their mouths!

Better a vape than cigarette smoke.

userxx · 25/01/2024 20:59

If that’s all you’ve got to get wound up over then you’re doing alright 👍

We don’t yet know the long term effects of vaping, so that is questionable at the minute. Multiple young friends of DD (all heavy vapers) have ended up in hospital because of it in recent years.

Nowadays vapes have become a gateway drug to smoking

Really? From standard vapes?

From the reports I've read the hospitalisations from 'vaping' have all been linked to 'vaping' cannabis oils not standard water based vape liquids. Of course inhaling heating oils direct to your lungs will cause harm, but standard vape liquids don't contain oils.

Yes, all regular vape liquid. Mostly from the disposable ones. No cannabis or anything like that

So I’m not allowed to be bothered by ignorant people blowing sweet smelling vapour all over me on a daily basis, without a care in the world?

I'd ban the fucking things in a heartbeat. I work in a secondary school, and pupils meeting up to vape in the toilets during lesson time is a massive problem.
They're clearly marketed at young people too, with the candy colours and flavours.

FatherJoseFernandez · 25/01/2024 21:28

Yes I hate the sickly smell 🤢 and the disposable ones littered everywhere. I think they’re better than cigarettes and a good way to wean yourself off fags but I know a few people who have started vaping that never smoked in the first place which seems bizarre

What a stupid comment. Did the OP say this was the only thing in life she is worried about? No. And do you really not give a shit about the fact that these things are being marketed to, and heavily used by, children? Wow.

NotToYou · 25/01/2024 21:34

Agreed. They smell awful and people seem to think that as they're not 'as bad' as smoking they don't have to move away from non-vapers.

Gettingbysomehow · 25/01/2024 21:37

Even worse waiting at the shop counter in my half hour lunch break while 100 other people in front of me can't decide what bloody vape flavour to buy and buying scratch cards and lottery tickets. For fucks sake.

They should only be available on prescription to those trying to give up smoking. Kids certainly shouldn't be able to get hold of them.

TheDandyLion · 25/01/2024 21:41

I'm not bothered by the vapour it the disposable batteries littering the place which I find so abhorrent.

Agree with this 100%. Actually a really good idea - unfortunately our government doesn’t seem to have any of those..

I agree, but I don't find that smokers are all that conscious about the smoke they're blowing around people either.

QueenCamilla · 25/01/2024 21:46

The stink of weed seems to be the worse problem where I live. Definitely smells worse than tabacco and vapes combined.

Weird assumption to make. If that's all you've got to contribute, I wouldn't bother.

Hate vapes, OP. They can be hard to avoid and trigger my DH's asthma.

I work on trains. It's very unusual to have a smoker bold enough to light up in the middle of a carriage. A few try and hide in the toilet (I'll still chuck you off if I catch you). Vapers on the other hand do it everywhere.

Unleashthecrazy · 25/01/2024 21:55

Couldn't agree more, the smell is so overwhelming, there just isn't any consideration for the people around them.

FYI I have the same views about cigarette smokers but most of them tend to move out of groups when smoking. Vape smokers don't tend to give the same respect from my experience.

couiza · 25/01/2024 21:57

OP, do you drive and emit pollutants into the atmosphere? No escape from that outdoors either.

I don't use cigs or vapes etc. but honestly they don't bother me one bit. See above.

I agree about children vaping and disposables though.

Better none at all

If you have nothing relevant or constructive to add then don’t say anything. Not hard

Yes, I do drive, but not indoors! The amount of people who think it is ok to vape in shopping centres, bars, at concerts and even in hospitals is astounding! I have experienced all of the above
