Why the hell are GMB gaslighting women with this stuff?

https://twitter.com/GMB/status/1749329378352275568

This is an enormous male-bodied person - even larger than the interviewing man!

They haven't described him as a woman in that tweet. He is referred to by the interviewer twice as born male.

Unless you think he's lying about the death threats or you think the death threats are somehow acceptable in the circumstances and that's what they're "gaslighting" about?

Justwrong68 · 23/01/2024 00:24

To even entertain the idea of him competing against women and then reporting it like it's normal behaviour is gaslighting everyone.

HermioneKipper · 23/01/2024 00:24

They refer to him as “she” multiple times.

He is a cheat who should stay out of women’s sports. It’s very simple

Can you get this moved to FWR please?

No. Everyone should know this is going on

But it's not GMB who set the rules about who can compete in the golf tournament, and they weren't reporting on it like it was normal given the interviewer specifically asked him about the advantages males have in sport and what he thinks the issues are.

And didn’t challenge him when he said that he’s only one person so it doesn’t matter?

The women affected by this weren’t even mentioned

At 00.20 - "You clearly have an advantage" (over women)

At 00.44 - "Why do you think people have an issue with you competing against women"

Your use of gaslighting is ironic in the circumstances.

HermioneKipper · 23/01/2024 00:38

Calling him “she” is gaslighting

You didn't include his answers.

At 00.20 - "You clearly have an advantage" (over women). Do you accept that?
Answer: "I 100% agree".

At 00.44 - "Why do you think people have an issue with you competing against women"

Answer: "I don't understand it."

The lack of self awareness and the sheer entitlement is shocking. He admits he has an advantage but yet doesn't understand why anyone would object to him playing.

How is it gaslighting? We all know that 'she' is biologically male. If it's pronouns you're bothered by, say so.

Why?

HermioneKipper · 23/01/2024 00:53

Well pronouns are obviously nonsense too.

It’s gaslighting as it’s trying to convince us of something that is patently not true. Ie that “he” is a “she”

I have concerns around trans women in women’s sport but this thread is just dripping with hate. I hope it’s deleted.

How is it dripping with hate?

I disagree that males should be able to cheat their way into taking women’s spaces in sports competitions or as in this case - win them entirely! And “I’M’” hateful?

Its not hateful to women to take away their hopes and dreams, hard work and chances to win?

Trans women in women's sport is something I disagree with. Trans women in women's refuges (unless in a seperate part, of course they should have refuge) also. I have a trans family member (F to M). I believe in live and let live, I'm a feminist and I'm not threatened by trans women. This thread is just gonna be uber Terfy no doubt like Gwen Stefani.

HermioneKipper · 23/01/2024 01:05

They can dress up and call themselves whatever they want but males don’t belong in women’s spaces or sports.

And kids shouldn’t be making life altering decisions at a very young age.

otherwise everyone can crack on.

Mumsnet’s guidelines re misgendering:

“That said, it’s clear that most trans people find the use of pronouns or names that they or others have consciously rejected, to be hurtful and would therefore struggle to engage in a discussion with those who insist on using them. The same is true of the expression ‘Trans-Identified Male’ or ‘TIM’. Likewise, many feminists are affronted by the term ‘cis’ and ‘terf’, so using these terms will make civil debate less likely. As we’ve said, context is everything – but our moderation team will most likely delete these expressions if we feel they're being used in a deliberately inflammatory way.”

I assume this thread is only still up because fewer mods are around overnight.

PonyPals · 23/01/2024 01:19

It is so disgusting that this is even allowed. Why isn't everyone outraged by this!

Terfy and full of hate for not bowing down to a man playing make believe for the purpose of gaining an advantage.
