To find this film disturbing

"Leave the world behind" I find it more like a prediction,/warning on what's to come. Netflix tend to do this. Total shutdown of the internet, pho nes etc and the anarchy that would follow. Could this be a warning of the future? Very disturbing film.

Could this be a warning of the future?

No, it's just a film. The writer and director cant see into the future.

By that I mean, a future that they have planned for us.

A future who have planned for us? Who's they?

You mean to tell me Netflix are trying to take over the world.

The people that run the world.

Wait til Skynet becomes self aware and launches Judgment Day - hasta la vista baby. Although I think that happened in 1997.

margotrose · 11/12/2023 17:04
Grin

Who are those people, then?

Wait til Skynet becomes self aware and launches Judgment Day - hasta la vista baby. Although I think that happened in 1997.

They will probably do that via Disney plus

No but Netflix is used to promote scare mongering.

I agree, also throw some robots in to the mix. Haven't seen the film and I probably won't

Yep.

DurhamDurham · 11/12/2023 17:07

What would the people who run the world have to gain from all that?

Allywill · 11/12/2023 17:08

but how can it be both a future that is planned and scaremongering?

Icouldbehappy · 11/12/2023 17:09

Cats rule the world. Everyone knows that.

eandz13 · 11/12/2023 17:09

This thread reminded me I was watching this in the bath the other day and still had half hour left on it, thanks!

I don't think it's a warning as such, but a definite possibility.

Redlarge · 11/12/2023 17:09

There is stuff going round the internet (so obvs completely true) that its all based on true events and warnings that have been leaked from the USA gov.
I need to pay more attention to explain this better. Ill leave now ha

bartbert235 · 11/12/2023 17:09

To what end! How would it benefit these "people" to shut down the world. And are Netflix predicting it, in on it or just scaremongers

saoirse31 · 11/12/2023 17:10

Well OP, they dont seem very successful at scaremongering then though, do they? What other films that Netflix show have you been similarly worried by?

Kpo58 · 11/12/2023 17:10

The ending annoyed me as it didn't tie up any loose ends. It's like they got halfway through filming the film, got bored and gave up.

What would the people who run the world have to gain from all that?

The scarce resources.

And Julia Robert’s has the inside scoop and is the new messiah? after all she’s survived the dry run/practice?
What about everyone who read the book? They are miles ahead with having converted to being preppers?
Maybe the Netflix show “The Chosen” is meant to convert the masses before total destruction?

That was the impression I got from the trailer, too.

Girls Beyonce GIF

I thought girls run the world?

EvilElsa · 11/12/2023 17:14

I actually quite enjoyed it.
It's just a film OP. Same as any other "dire warnings" one like The Road, The Day after Tomorrow, Terminator etc etc.
