To find this film disturbing

"Leave the world behind" I find it more like a prediction,/warning on what's to come. Netflix tend to do this. Total shutdown of the internet, pho nes etc and the anarchy that would follow. Could this be a warning of the future? Very disturbing film.

OP posts:

Lol..... The friends song isn't the point. The point is that the world gets fucked and here we are... Watching shite on telly for giggles.

Grin

Who are those people, then?

It's me. But no worries, I have no current plans to end things.

AlwaysGinPlease · 11/12/2023 18:18

Disturbing in that it was awful! Waste of time watching. I really thought with JR, it would be great. Nope.

angry jurassic park GIF by David Firth

Are there any dinosaurs though? Love dino disaster films.
When they come for us, baggsy not get eaten by a t-rex.

OP watch a bit of the covid enquiry. This lot can't run a fucking country, most political systems have no chance of taking over the world. Yes perhaps Putin might like to give it a go, but you'd never get all the power hungry men to agree on shit, so no chance of it happening.

I do think it interesting that the Obamas are exc producers as I think it’s interesting to think of a nation that is a « superpower » with much assurance of their own safety and dominance, actually being victims of said attack and considering how that may play out for normal people..

Absolutely this. The leaflets that fell were in both Arabic and an Asian language. Terrifying for ’superpower’ American’s the thought of them all uniting going for America.

BlueberryVelvet · 11/12/2023 18:20

I think America is primed for this to happen. The gun ownership alone would make a civil war deadly quite quickly.

leaflets that fell

ginasevern · 11/12/2023 18:25

OP, our "civilisation" will end one day and it probably won't be pretty, of that I am sure. There may also be a powerful faction that rules everything, unbeknown even to our own governments. I'm am very far from a conspiracy theorist but there are some things I wouldn't totally dismiss off hand. The fact is, though, that in either case we can do nothing about it.

By that I mean, a future that they have planned for us.

Oh bad luck. I watched The First Wives Club (1996) this afternoon so my future is looking fantastic!

Switcher · 11/12/2023 18:28

It was definitely the cats.

User2856948 · 11/12/2023 18:29

It's from a book though, Netflix didn't write the book, they just made a film from it so how have Netflix done it.

leaflets that fell

That were dropped from the drones or planes, or whatever it was.

OneTC · 11/12/2023 18:31

Gonna watch it tonight

TaaLaa · 11/12/2023 18:32

Watched it over the weekend.
Complete pile o shite- like they ran out of money half way through. 2 hours of my pure I won't get back.

beanontoast · 11/12/2023 18:34

It could've been disturbing but it didn't quite hit the mark for me.

The most disturbing film I've watched this year was called Speak No Evil, give that one a try

Switcher · 11/12/2023 18:35

CalistoNoSolo · 11/12/2023 17:43

OP, you should read The Stand by Stephen King. It's an excellent end of the world novel. I wouldn't recommend reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy - I feel it may upset your delicate sensibilities.

I haven't seen the movie you're talking about here, but I'm pretty sure the main motivation for pretty much everyone is money. Any end of the world scenario puts us back to a Dark Ages bartering system. Believe me, the vested interests who 'run the world' want the status quo to carry on ad infinitum.

The stand is one of the best books I've ever read despite it being fucking weird.

Popetthetreehugger · 11/12/2023 18:38

instantick · 11/12/2023 18:38

JesusAndMaryPain · 11/12/2023 18:39

Haven't seen the movie but i read the book during the pandemic! Iykyk 😀

The scarce resources.

If they run the world, then they already have access to the scarce resources.

What?

instantick · 11/12/2023 18:39

you should watch malignant now thats jumpy and weird! but hilariously great

Elliania · 11/12/2023 18:39

Why would they warn us? Wouldn't it be better to let us go on in ignorance so we don't start to question things?
