To find this film disturbing

"Leave the world behind" I find it more like a prediction,/warning on what's to come. Netflix tend to do this. Total shutdown of the internet, pho nes etc and the anarchy that would follow. Could this be a warning of the future? Very disturbing film.

The vaccine isn’t designed to kill people but it is a side effect

MistressoftheDarkSide · 12/12/2023 14:38

Yes, the collateral damage from the vaccine has been glossed over for the alleged greater good I feel.

RedPony1 · 12/12/2023 15:08

i was more annoyed at the crappy ending, than worrying if it be displaying the future.

I was fuming i wasted time watching something with no conclusion!

The conclusion was there. Perhaps you did not understand it, but the ending was quite clear.

DinoDays · 12/12/2023 15:20

The most disturbing thing about the film is this thread!

As countless people have mentioned. IT WAS A BOOK FIRST!

I'm pretty sure the Obama's had nothing to do with the book.

I'm shocked at some of the posts. I swear mumsnet gets madder every day.

Or am I just getting old??

Proudmum17 · 12/12/2023 17:15

Did you notice Michelle and Barack Obama are executive producers?

Everyone did, your point is?

They didn't commission or write the book, they produced (and I use that word loosely because I'm sure they have very little experience in film production! )a movie based on the book. They are two completely different things

I really liked it. Everyone I know who has seen it said the ending was disappointing and left too many unanswered questions. But I thought all the questions got answered and nicely wrapped up at the end. I would love to see the story told from a different perspective as well. It’s definitely thought provoking but it hasn’t made me paranoid enough to start stockpiling radiation tablets

I agree with you about the ending. I don't understand how else it could have ended.

Yes ^

I have just started watching Station 11 which was recommended above, it's on Lionsgate on Prime channels, 10 episodes so hopefully doable in the free weeks trial.

Oooooo! Good plan!

@Cosmosforbreakfast
A future who have planned for us? Who's they?

To find this film disturbing

Kpo58 · 11/12/2023 17:10

The ending annoyed me as it didn't tie up any loose ends. It's like they got halfway through filming the film, got bored and gave up.

I agree - totally dissatisfied with the ending and what a waste of good actors!

Cosmosforbreakfast · 13/12/2023 22:35

Can someone explain the ending to me please?

mottytotty · 13/12/2023 22:37

CharlottePimpernel · 11/12/2023 17:16

Oh I love Apocalyptic/end of civilisation films. They're my comfort viewing.

The Walking Dead seasons set in the prison are peak comfort viewing!

MissBuffyAnneSummers · 13/12/2023 22:37

I would recommend you avoid

How it ends
Die Hard 4

And disaster movies in general.

MissBuffyAnneSummers · 13/12/2023 22:39

And under no circumstances watch the tv series Survivors

HeyThereDelilah1 · 13/12/2023 22:45

It’s based on a book, the book is better!

Proudmum17 · 13/12/2023 23:27

@myfabby Lol :-)

Katemax82 · 13/12/2023 23:48

I fell asleep during it 😴

GonksAreNotJustForChristmas · 14/12/2023 08:57

There is an ending. They were all going to meet at the bunker.

LouisCatorze · 14/12/2023 09:31

I thought the way it ended was quite clever (and unAmerican in the way that it was left a bit up-in-the-air). However, I was expecting the power to go down just as she was about to watch the final episode of Friends.

No, it's just a film. The writer and director cant see into the future.

A lot of things in William Gibson’s books have come true.

Same as the book!
