Clive and Iuliia Gurzhii were all over the news for 3 days in August, after idiotically going to give birth on a beach a long way from home.
The birth was unwitnessed and very odd circumstances.
I googled them and all I could find was a gofundme (never saw that one coming!!) - it raised GBP128 out of an ambitious target of GBP15.000.

Do you think they are still out there?

Good question! I'd quite forgotten about those two. That first MN thread about them was glorious.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 19/10/2023 03:48

Oh, that WAS weird. I hope the baby is ok, her parents are irresponsible

TiredCatLady · 19/10/2023 04:03

I’d love to know what’s happened to them. Probably changed their names after outing themselves as complete morons.

Ponderingwindow · 19/10/2023 04:18

I have looked for updates a few times and not seen anything. that isn’t totally surprising since the initial publicity push didn’t start filling the coffers on their gofundme.

brainexplorer · 19/10/2023 04:28

I have a horrible suspicion that they didn't birth the child at all. There's been no update I can find since they were required to submit to DNA testing. They claim the baby was born on a boat between two islands, and the hospital were adamant that she was more than 24 hours old, which is why they wouldn't register the birth. It's all very unsettling.

SwingTheMonkey · 19/10/2023 04:34

Not sure what was said in the original thread about these two but there’s no way this baby was theirs. They faked a pregnancy and went abroad trying to adopt a child without going through the correct route. Gave birth in the middle of the sea? Do me a favour. Someone gave birth, it just wasn’t her.

Who are peukert and Bodhi? Not the people talked about in the op…

Shittenshite · 19/10/2023 04:40

Oops, sorry. I'm not designed for 4am starts.

AsWrittenBy · 19/10/2023 04:43

No updates since august

Zanatdy · 19/10/2023 04:49

Yes all very odd. If the child was theirs a DNA test would have meant a passport could be issued. Wonder if anyone knows them?

I suspect there was childbirth and it was all a scam right from start

WiddlinDiddlin · 19/10/2023 05:10

Fake pregnancy/adoption scam was my first thought too!

ImustLearn2Cook · 19/10/2023 05:11

It was all over the news in August. It’s weird that there has been no update. Even if it turned out to be a scam, you’d think that the news outlets would simply update that it turned out to be a scam.

I wonder what happened.

Mangotango39 · 19/10/2023 05:13

Yeah I'd love an update to!
It was all so strange!

WiddlinDiddlin · 19/10/2023 05:14

I suspect the fact there is no update means they got it sorted and came home, no scam or fake pregnancy... just utter muppets.

HoppingPavlova · 19/10/2023 05:42

I would think zero chance the baby was biologically theirs, and they got caught out trying to circumvent the systems and told a bulldust story.

LemonTreeSkies · 19/10/2023 05:44

“Birthing person”??

Wouldn’t that be the mother?

Zonder · 19/10/2023 06:20

It was really sad for their other child, I remember. They didn't see her for months because they apparently wanted a perfect birth. Or something.

NOTANUM · 19/10/2023 06:34

It’s annoying when stories just drop off the radar and this is one of them!

Apparently they couldn't get her a passport either.

Shraree · 19/10/2023 06:45

This is the problem with modern journalism. Newspapers just picked up the story from a news wire, printed it and forgot about it.

It’s so hard to be prepared with things like that when you’ve no idea how long the gestation of a human baby will be…

FrustatedAgain · 19/10/2023 06:49

I’d love to know the ending to this story too!
