They tell us to help our daughters to protect themselves from male violence by thinking about what they wear, how much they drink, how late to stay out, where they go…
Are we supposed to add to the list ‘not rejecting a bunch of flowers in case you get stabbed to death’. This is horrifying.

I’m so so sick of male violence. It feels everywhere and inescapable. More luck than anything that your daughter isn’t the one. This poor girl and her family.

Teenage boy stabbed girl, 15, to death with 'a machete after argument'

Met Police officers rushed to Wellesley Road outside the Whitgift shopping centre. Paramedics battled to save the 15-year-old's life but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

It’s awful. Croydon has a serious problem with youth violence.

Blackbyrd · 27/09/2023 13:34

Truly shocking, what can you say? Why on Earth did he leave his house with that weapon unless he had premeditated intent, ie it was murder. I appreciate the bravery of the bus driver also, whilst the adults were busy running away from an injured child

ClusterFukt · 27/09/2023 13:36

I can’t even form a sentence to articulate an adequate response. 😢RIP to that poor girl

SkinnyMalinkyLankyLegs · 27/09/2023 13:55

That poor poor girl. And then you scroll further down the article and see just how many kids are losing their lives to gun/knife violence. What is going on in London?? Why is it such a massive problem down there compared to other cities?

35965a · 27/09/2023 13:56

Horrendous

SecondClassReturnToDottinghamPlease · 27/09/2023 13:57

She had finished with him the day before apparently. So, yes - intended to murder her if she didn't take him back.

Needmorelego · 27/09/2023 14:00

I live near Croydon. This incident is depressing and terrifying.
Where the actual fuck did he get a machete from?
RIP to that poor girl.

Sunshinenrain · 27/09/2023 14:27

Bloody hell!!

Why is it when males (usually men but in this case a boy) can’t have a female they resort to killing them!

Yes they broke up and she didn’t want to get back with him but she may have changed her mind in a few weeks time. Now he’s got no chance.

Too many males think that it’s either them or death.

The act is obviously awful but the thought process behind it is what truly terrifies me.

You either stay in a relationship with someone you don’t want to be with or you have to be killed.

BrokenButNotFinished · 27/09/2023 14:32

Why do we need to know about her school fees?? Is there a narrative being peddled here that she thought herself too good for him (since it isn't clear he went to the same school)...?? It has to be her fault somehow. 🤨

Itsgettingweirdnow · 27/09/2023 14:37

This is simply awful. It does not matter what she did, she did not deserve to be stabbed. We really need to start looking at our youth and how we can help them with their emotions and cognitive processing. Especially our boys. There is a massive problem brewing, we need to get out heads out the sand. This issue transcends race or class - there are too many cases of boys/men being violent and/ killing girls/women.

LakeTiticaca · 27/09/2023 14:37

The courts have powers to sentence 5 years for carrying a knife in public. Its about time they started using these powers

Unsure754 · 27/09/2023 14:40

In horror at this.
This girl was simply going to school. With no idea of the plan another person had for her.
From what I can see this boy approached her with a choice, be his or die.

I cannot imagine how this girls family feel right now.
Makes me want howl at fucking moon, this child’s life lost and name added to the list of female victims of brutal, ego driven male violence.

Murdered on her way to school.

Iamnotastick · 27/09/2023 14:41

Men truly are the plague on this earth.

cocksstrideintheevening · 27/09/2023 14:42

What do her school fees have to do with anything?

It's horrific. I'm truly scared for my girls.

I don't think that's the narrative.... perhaps it's more the fact that a lot of people think this issue of youth violence only affects certain socio economic groups and this proves otherwise.

Itsgettingweirdnow · 27/09/2023 14:44

I do agree (OP is really having a week of it as well, considering they are closing) although if HE is from a state school all hell will break loose.

Veganator · 27/09/2023 14:48

Utterly horrendous. That poor poor girl and her family. :(

ButterCrackers · 27/09/2023 14:48

So awful and terrible. The killer must get life in prison. Put anyone carrying a knife, which is a lethal weapon, in prison for a ten years. Make the families of these violent people pay for the prison time.

ginandtonicwithlimes · 27/09/2023 14:48

That is awful. Some men and boys need to learn to cope with rejection.

What's with all knife crime in London at the moment?

MadamWhiteleigh · 27/09/2023 14:53

I feel sick thinking about what it must be like for her family. The pain and shock must be unimaginable.

INeedAnotherName · 27/09/2023 14:54

That poor girl Sad

What on earth goes through these men's/boy's minds when they think they have the right to use violence on another person? Where do they get this sense of entitlement from?

HobnobsChoice · 27/09/2023 14:58

It's not just London. A 14 year old was stabbed to death in Manchester 10 days ago. The suspects are 13 and 14. We've had about a dozen knife/machete murders in 3 years. Gangs and county lines have played a part in a number of them

IMO the message is 'dont think you can buy protection from this risk' i.e. even those privileged enough to pay for education are at risk.

Razzle39 · 27/09/2023 14:58

That poor girl and her family. What must they be going through.

When another major news story is that Laurence Fox felt comfortable to go on a ‘news’ channel and say what he did about a woman journalist and joke about it then it’s no wonder young men feel that women owe them and are second class citizens.

Matchingcollarandcuffs · 27/09/2023 14:59

We heard the helicopter for ages this morning before seeing the article. It's just horrific, and a totally scummy place for her to die too. Massive love to the bus driver, though they're going to be stuffed for life. DS is 14, gets that bus every day, and is thoroughly shaken, as will many young people be. And I know several girls from that school who would have known her.

What has our world come to? And what has happened that he has already thought/learnt that killing her would be the answer? Can just thinking ever be undone or does he just have to be locked up for life?
