Roman Empire female equivalent

Inspired by the Roman Empire thread, I wondered whether there is an equivalent thing that women think about a lot but men never do.

I reckon I think about Michael Jackson a lot more than my DH. I probably think about MJ at least 3-4 times a week.

Anyone else think about one obscure thing, unconnected with work or hobbies, a lot?

That scene in one of the Lord of the Rings films when Aragorn pushes a massive door open and strides in to take charge?

Holy shit, I think about that scene often too! But my thoughts are along the line of “why is he pushing both, he can comfortably fit through one!”

Rule of drama!

Re Aragorn coming and taking charge: I recently heard this kind of thing described as "competence pxxn" and it rings kind of true! Wouldn't it be lovely if someone trustworthy (and not a power-mad tyrant) would come along and sort things out? I've since noticed that a lot of the science fiction I read has moments when the team Do Stuff Efficiently. Wish-fulfilment, I'm sure.

Lord Vetinari (Discworld) is the ultimate in competency porn. Benevolent tyrant for the win!

Ankh-Morpork had dallied with many forms of government and had ended up with that form of democracy known as One Man, One Vote. The Patrician was the Man; he had the Vote.

So lovely and simple!

@PoseasRadicalActuallyMisogynistic my above comment was in reply to yours. Technology likes to mess me up!

I believe you're right. I mean, he's not exactly power-mad. Power-alarmingly-sane, maybe.

That said, your namesake definitely has his moments too. Calming down riots by sitting on the steps outside the station with a cup of cocoa and no weapons... that was pretty awesome.
