Roman Empire female equivalent

HeadChog · 12/09/2023 22:21

Inspired by the Roman Empire thread, I wondered whether there is an equivalent thing that women think about a lot but men never do.

I reckon I think about Michael Jackson a lot more than my DH. I probably think about MJ at least 3-4 times a week.

Anyone else think about one obscure thing, unconnected with work or hobbies, a lot?

That scene in one of the Lord of the Rings films when Aragorn pushes a massive door open and strides in to take charge?

You're one of my people

Idrankyourbananamilk · 15/09/2023 12:26

Dinosaurs? Greek mythology?

mg2397 · 15/09/2023 17:13

Nuclear attack, which is a horrible thought to have reoccurring. How much time we would have, what would I do if the kids were/n't with me (the thought of my eldest being at school and a disaster happening is awful)

Also conversations/scenarios that haven't happened and at never happen 😂 also cooking a certain dish. Will be stuck in my head for days until I actually cook it just going through every step even if I could make it in my sleep

Oh and moving furniture

Prelapsarianhag · 15/09/2023 17:42

Surviving the apocalypse.
Having a good death.
What cunts a lot of men are.
Running.

Oh and moving furniture

Do you mean you moving your furniture around, or furniture that moves itself around in a poltergeisty manner?

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 15/09/2023 18:56

Or "moving furniture" nudge nudge wink wink 😉 ?

MavisMcMinty · 15/09/2023 19:08

Aaaah! Bet it’s that.

Wanttobekind · 15/09/2023 20:01

Kittens. Several times a day as Facebook reads my mind and gives me videos to watch to continue filling my mind with them. In comparison to kitten videos, reality sucks.

Ain't that the truth...

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 15/09/2023 20:39

Kittens.

And dinosaurs.

Not together.

McVittieBiscuit · 15/09/2023 23:13

I think about food an abnormal amount…

I’m now thinking of kittens and dinosaurs together, deciding wether to think about Godzilla kittens or teeny T-rexs

Me rearranging the house, nothing as creative as self moving furniture 😂

I wish I had that, I don't seem to have been born with the instinct. Once the stuff is in place I can never picture it being anywhere different. When we've had to move stuff we end up messing around with room diagrams and cutout bits of paper in the shape of the furniture and trying out random stuff. If we don't we end up with some arrangement that doesn't fit! And it still always looks a bit rubbish tbh.

I think about what I’d do in an apocalyptic event. Not gonna lie, I’d really like one to happen!!!

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 17/09/2023 09:26

men would never buy pants without pockets but we will.

The many potential confusions surrounding the US vs UK meaning of the word 'pants' rarely fails to raise a giggle with me!

AliceDownTheRabbitHole · 17/09/2023 14:34

Serial killers and murderers. I think about them quite frequently. No specific one though

LOL!! I always forget about that. Trousers. :)

Mistymountain · 17/09/2023 15:18

I'm afraid I think about the Roman Empire quite often, I think about the Wild West, and deserts frequently too. I used to think about the Queen - I don't know why, I'm not a Royalist at all.
I never think about Michael Jackson or celebrities though.

I can't relate, but I do love when the electric is out. I have this moment of instant relaxation when all the buzzing stops.

One time, during a flood, they shut off electric and gas to my neighborhood so that we would all leave. Not a chance - friends and neighbors pooled resources and a threw parties instead. It only lasted about 24 hours and was during pleasant weather so no big deal.

MavisMcMinty · 17/09/2023 16:12

I think about “the end of the world” a lot because I live in a rural area, in a wood, and could go weeks or months without seeing anyone if only I didn’t occasionally have to go to the shop. So my mind often wanders to imagining I’m the only person left alive in the area, the (rubbish) local Londis would be mine to politely plunder, and how I’d siphon off my neighbours’ heating oil until it was all gone and I’d have to move to a house with a solid fuel range and a natural spring water supply.

Sometimes I think about the end of the world novel I could write, although I stumble on thinking up a reason/cause for the end of the world that hasn’t already been done to death. Maybe a terrible sound (like in Kate Bush’s song Experiment IV) that explodes everyone’s heads except for profoundly deaf people and maybe deep-sea divers and submariners and astronauts on the ISS - they’d be left up there forever, poor sods, unless by chance loads of NASA scientists are profoundly deaf.

It passes the time on my dog-walks of solitude, that’s for sure.

Stompythedinosaur · 17/09/2023 18:37

I think about the people who died on Mount Everest and their bodies are still up there quite a bit.

Like a pp I also think about Aragorn from Lord of the Rings multiple times a week!
