Roman Empire female equivalent

HeadChog · 12/09/2023 22:21

Inspired by the Roman Empire thread, I wondered whether there is an equivalent thing that women think about a lot but men never do.

I reckon I think about Michael Jackson a lot more than my DH. I probably think about MJ at least 3-4 times a week.

Anyone else think about one obscure thing, unconnected with work or hobbies, a lot?

I have a hobby which takes up a lot of my time, and it's grown arms, legs, fingers and goodness knows what else. It's my happy place that both challenges and relaxes me. It's nothing to do with Michael Jackson though. 😁

Edit - Oops I've just read 'not connected with work or hobbies' but tbh this is lots of sub-thoughts from a main hobby, so it counts!

PretzelKnot · 12/09/2023 22:25

I’m a Roman Empire type of gal.

GettingStuffed · 12/09/2023 22:25

Currently going through an ancient Egypt phase,. I think about them daily

dannyufcfan · 12/09/2023 22:26

Henry cavill with his shirt off?

Taylorswiftserastour · 12/09/2023 22:29

That scene in one of the Lord of the Rings films when Aragorn pushes a massive door open and strides in to take charge?

Ponoka7 · 12/09/2023 22:29

History is like a hobby, so my thoughts are hobby related. I think about the number Christianity did on women, often. I live in the walking dead in my fantasies.

Henry cavill with his shirt off?

My DH loves the Witcher so that could be a close thing between us both 😂 he might think of him more!

I'm going through a history phase on audible so been thinking about lots of different time periods a lot.

.... bridgerton?...

RitaFromThePitCanteen · 12/09/2023 22:30

I came on to say Colin Farrell in Miss Julie

I'm a dog geek but it's not my actual job, so that takes most of my non-work headspace.

I actually think about TWD/the apocalypse a lot, as I like to be prepared (inadequately prepared, but hey ho).

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 12/09/2023 22:31

I'm massively more likely to think about the Roman empire than about Michael Jackson.

Youdoyoubabe · 12/09/2023 22:31

Morton Harket.

and opening the car door in a moving car. Had that thought since was a kid.

TenOhSeven · 12/09/2023 22:32

This isn't a real thing, but I reckon I think about time travel more than the average person. I want to go back a hundred years and walk around my city. I plan routes, and idly wonder if I'll still be wearing my Skechers when I clamber out the time machine.

Summerisawashout · 12/09/2023 22:32

Tudors. Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Katherine Parr. Sir Walter. Raleigh. Thomas Moore. Thomas Cromwell. Cardinal Wolsey. Jane Seymour. At least a few times a week

JennyForeigner · 12/09/2023 22:32

I think a lot about the Byzantine Empire. And early Medieval history in general really.

But mainly Byzantium. And particularly about the clockwork trees they had that would grow up by the Emporer's throne while visitors did proskynesis, and how the palaces were filled with running water so eavesdroppers couldn't overhear the plotting but the streams were secretly connected to the Roman cisterns so that Christian terrorists could pop up in the palace after 1392 and how far Greek fire would have travelled under water before it fizzled out and...

Today's Roman Empire chat has been quite exciting for me. I feel seen.

I do think about ancient Egypt quite often.

Maybe a couple of times a week.

TheLeadbetterLife · 12/09/2023 22:32

Ancient civilisations in general for me, Romans and others.

I do have a theory that everyone thinks about the Nazis every day, because they just come up all the time. Films, TV programmes, books. Spend more than 10 minutes on Wikipedia and all links eventually lead to Hitler.

Oh yes this one, definitely.

MissingMoominMamma · 12/09/2023 22:34

I often think about other people’s jobs.

Today I was wondering about people who test poo samples.

Yesterday, I considered politicians.

After a discussion tonight, I also know that I think about the Roman Empire more than DH does too.

Twotwinpeaks · 12/09/2023 22:34

I think about murders and crime a lot. Probably daily. I am weird?
