Idly wondering what would happen if a few governments around the world told their people they had evidence of aliens visiting us.

How do you think people would behave? Do you think humankind is ready for that next level in intergalactic relations?

I think lots of us would be curious and intrigued. And others of us would be terrified. And the rest would pretend it wasn't happening.

It's hard to predict how you behave in any unusual situation so I dunno how I can't say how I would behave Grin

At the moment I feel mostly fascinated and intrigued but maybe I'd lose my mind with fear!

I thought Congress had already admitted it.

Redlarge · 08/09/2023 23:10

Didnt the US gov just do this and noone gave a shit.

Wsmi · 08/09/2023 23:11

Give them time. When they run out of ways to milk the people and steal from them, they will come up with this kind of nonsense to scare people.

After all, wars and pandemics have been a bit overdone recently.

Wsmi · 08/09/2023 23:12

They are yet to take full advantage of climate hysteria. Aliens might be next.

Summerish · 08/09/2023 23:13

I think they are building up to admitting aliens exist . What will happen to religion then if aliens say no god.

BarelyLiterate · 08/09/2023 23:20

If they landed in America, probably.

If they landed in Britain, we would just put the kettle on, offer them a nice chocolate biscuit, ask if they have come far and chat about the awful interplanetary traffic around Uranus & Neptune.

How would they know ha. Also how would we understand them.

CherrySocks · 08/09/2023 23:21

Will they be good aliens or bad aliens, or neutral aliens?
Are they going to help save the planet from global warming and humans from each other? Or are they going to harvest our body parts and take our plant seeds? Or are they planning to settle here and take over the land and sea? Or are they doing research, collecting soil samples and buzzing off again? Are they collecting different species from all over the universe? Will they be carrying harmful viruses? This is the sort of thing we need to know.

Not quite. They aren't saying much in terms of detail, as it has to be declassified.

One congressman has said something along the lines of "the people can handle it".

But what is it, exactly?!

I suppose it depends on the type of aliens. Super clever, resource hungry ones would be scary. Little pea sized non intelligent ones? Maybe they'd be scary too. They might infect the sea or something weird. Aliens in underpants, not so much.

Maybe they're already among us? It would account for Milton Keynes.

IHateLegDay · 08/09/2023 23:24

There've been a lot of news articles about aliens recently so I've been wondering what they're gearing us up for.

Can't they basically be the same thing?

Look at the descriptions of angels in the Bible. When they appear to someone they always have to reassure them by saying not to be afraid Grin

Not sure why there is a dilemma about religion, really?

Maybe certain groups of aliens are the higher power that lots of religions have described in different ways.

Could be just an argument of semantics.

This is not something I never worried about until I heard Stephen Hawking say he didn’t think it was wise to broadcast noise into space. 😬

Brrrrrrrrrrrr · 08/09/2023 23:26

I always thought disclosure wouldn’t happen because of the significant impact it would have on religion and most faiths. Some of our technology today is exceptionally advanced and tends to make me think it’s come from another place given the speed at which things have changed.

ThinWomansBrain · 08/09/2023 23:28

well if it's the Tories, they'd hide it for a good few years anyway.

Probably already happened - Trussbot's an alien

I can’t handle my menopausal brain fog and mood swings, let alone aliens!

Loving reading the replies though.

People are numb to stuff and just trying to get by. The majority wouldn't really care and just go bavk to work/paying bills.

Actual biblical angels are absolutely terrifying. Just loads of eyes.
