I'm a terrible mum. I just picked them up 🤷 as I thought they were the cooked version 🤢. They ate the whole pack before the guy told me. It's going to be a long messy weekend. 😭 They are going to be unwell and it's all my fault

They ate raw chicken? Also, how are people editing their posts?

CountryStore · 24/08/2023 16:25

Not necessarily. Only if the particular chicken they ate has food poisoning bacteria in it. It's not a foregone conclusion

Fecksakereallygodreally · 24/08/2023 16:26

It's chicken with breadcrumbs. You get them as part of a meal deal sometimes that are cooked. I assumed they were the same 😐

Ratfinkstinkypink · 24/08/2023 16:26

Are you sure they were raw? I would've thought raw chicken pops would be quite chewy. (I didn't know any of those chicken pops came in a raw version).

wutheringkites · 24/08/2023 16:26

Are you sure they were actually raw chicken and not pre-cooked ones that should be reheated?

Ollifer · 24/08/2023 16:27

I don't think it was raw. You can heat them up but it doesn't mean they need to be cooked

Jobreveal · 24/08/2023 16:27

Oh dear 🤢 I just had to Google chicken pops. Are they basically chicken nuggets? How old are dc?

Fecksakereallygodreally · 24/08/2023 16:28

The ones from Waitrose they were reduced.

OP posts:
MoonlightMuse · 24/08/2023 16:28

Which ones were they OP?

Fecksakereallygodreally · 24/08/2023 16:29

4 and 7. They have sensory issues with food so I try all the varieties and add them to the safe list. I tried making my own in the air fryer but they weren't accepted.. just hope it doesn't back fire on me.

Looks right @Jobreveal and yes I know there not the best but really. I feel guilty already please don't make me feel worse 😭

OP posts:
Jobreveal · 24/08/2023 16:36

I'm not trying to make you feel guilty I just wanted to check if it was those to see if there was any info on the product details. I would think that they've been part cooked. If there's nothing on the packaging to say that they can be eaten without heating then I would give Waitrose customer services a call to double check and then you will either have your mind put to rest or you can brace yourself Flowers

Fecksakereallygodreally · 24/08/2023 16:38

Sorry my bad just panicking. It was the manager who said. They were eating them in the cafe

explain doctor who GIF

Am I correct in thinking this is another name for Popcorn Chicken? Similar to nuggets etc.

As far as I know the frozen ones have raw chicken in them.

Fingers crossed OP that your DC are ok.

Yes! why give us an edit button to be snatched away?!

Explain Youselves!

It is back Grin

Please keep it

Auntieobem · 24/08/2023 16:42

Were they served them in the cafe??

Ollifer · 24/08/2023 16:43

Oh sorry op I thought you meant it was the ones you can get in a meal deal not a bag like that

Excited101 · 24/08/2023 16:44

Not all raw chicken will make you ill. Only if the chicken you’re eating had a specific disease will it affect you. Just stay calm, give plenty of fluids, I’d be tempted to maybe try and get some diralyte in them but there’s probably not much point unless they actually get ill- which there’s a fair chance they might not. Don’t beat yourself up op, it’s shit but it was an easy mistake which might not even have any ramifications. For gods sake don’t let onto them about anything, especially since they’re some food issues anyway.

Fecksakereallygodreally · 24/08/2023 16:44

No I got them to eat at a picnic but it was thunder ⛈️ moonson rain and they were panicking. The same one at the links above.

They do mention not being pink when cooked though.

Fecksakereallygodreally · 24/08/2023 16:46

@Excited101 I did I rung up their dad and started crying so they do know hopefully will be able to distract them. I just went into panic mode I'm not normally that bad but I'm. Under so much stress atm

OP posts:
Clymene · 24/08/2023 16:48

They're partially cooked, not entirely raw. Hopefully the kids will be fine.

Don't tell them!

Lollopin · 24/08/2023 16:48

You're not a terrible mum. It's easily done. My mum, on the other hand, once made my Dsis eat raw sausage rolls she thought must be cooked, even though she kept telling her they weren't. Called her a drama queen and said she'd better eat them or there'd be no more!

mrsbyers · 24/08/2023 16:50

I’d give them a big glass of coke to drink - the acid in that may help to cook the chicken internally
