M&S Super Nutty Wholefood Salad catastrophe?

Helenahandkart · 25/05/2023 09:32

I LOVE M&S Super Nutty Wholefood Salad and it has been my go-to meal option for years whenever I travel. I tried to get a few yesterday prior to a business trip and it wasn’t available. Tried two other shops on the motorway - no joy.
Eventually I found a smaller version, minus the salad leaves and humous. But the humous and leaves were an integral part of the salad.
Does anyone know whether M&S have discontinued the original one? Everyone I know eats them so they’re presumably quite popular, so why would they be discontinued? There’s no mention on the internet of this disastrous development. What’s going on? Please help!

I live abroad, and whenever I get back to the UK I need to have a Wensleydale and carrot chutney sandwich. Last went back last autumn and they weren't to be found. Have they stopped them too? Sad

I had a Wensleydale and carrot chutney sandwich a couple of weeks ago. They are good!

Oh, they still exist <brightening dawn of hope> <M&S back on top of list of places to visit during next UK trip>

@Helenahandkart I realise I'm missing the point but even if you work in a dirty environment surely making at home and bringing in a tub is no different to eating a ready prepped one? I'm not sure the person who suggested making your own thought you'd be whipping it up at work!

".....They don't stop making Percy Pigs to encourage people to buy other sweets."
I agree 💯 @QuintanaRoo.

I agree 💯 @QuintanaRoo.

I wonder though if it’s because M&S (probably) think of Percy Pigs as being ‘iconic’ and there’s a whole range of food, clothes and homeware that are pig themed.

I've only ever had the side salad one. Now I want to big one so hope I haven't missed the boat.
I've never forgiven Sainsbury's for discontinuing their chilli lasagne with tortilla chips on top, or their veggie chilli with bulgar wheat instead of rice.

I’ve just remembered they’ve also discontinued their baked potato flavour crisps. They should bring them back.

Yes!!! These ones? SO GOOD !!! I would pay stupid money to have them again

Back in the 80s/90s they did little packs of mixed kinder bar sized chocolate bars. There would be a coffee one, a mint one etc. I would give them so much money if they ever returned.

M&S decades ago did a stuffed courgette ready meal which was gorgeous. Never seen anything like it since

I don't know if this is the same one I used to love, but they did one that had courgette with cannellini beans and onion. Probably late 90s. I can't remember it very well but I loved it!

Also loved the spring onion crisps. When I was in middle school I used to buy a bag to eat while I watched Ally McBeal every week!

Crikeyalmighty · 27/05/2023 13:03

@sadieshavingashindig oooh yes ,lovely stuff!!

Rockbird · 27/05/2023 13:50

Oh yes !
Delicious
And the freeze dried fruit covered in milk or dark or white chocolate- raspberries, strawberries and blueberries all in the one pack.

Don't tell me they weren't a good seller.

Tesos Milk chocolate peanut butter bar.
Awesome.
And cheap.
They've kept the milk, the dark and the hazelnut Tesco chocolate bars but the Peanut Butter bar GONE Sad

WiddlinDiddlin · 27/05/2023 18:22

The jam filled yum-yum.

They were delicious. They were there for what seemed like a bloody fortnight and then NEVER EVER AGAIN.

Bastards. It's been over 15 years and I have not forgiven or forgotten.

I’m travelling around for several days in a row, with no access to a fridge/kitchen/sink, so if I made one at home I could only have it on the first day, after which it would be manky and inedible. It’s hard to describe my work environment and the logistics of it all, but making a batch at home really isn’t an option.

👋🏻 @hotelmotelpremierinn. No-one else ever had a clue when I've mentioned them and they were so good!
My mum would get them as a treat if we hadn't moaned too much when we were dragged around the shops.

timegoingtooquickly · 29/05/2023 07:40

@Helenahandkart oh that makes sense now!

FiveMoreMinutesPlease · 29/05/2023 08:14

About 20 years ago they used to do a chilli beef pizza. It was so delicious but yes you've guessed it... gone now.
I'm always in hope that they bring it back. 20 years of disappointing visits to the m and s food hall 😂

Nohelpfromme · 29/05/2023 09:09

Where have the fresh raspberry jellies gone? I check every time. Nothing. It's been weeks now.

Nohelpfromme · 29/05/2023 09:11

And stuffed vine leaves 😞

hotelmotelpremierinn · 29/05/2023 10:14

Going way back - about 30 years ago probably - they used to do a chicken mini fillet dish where you pan fried the fillets and then there was a sauce that went with it - either creamy tomato or white wine and grape? Was lovely with rice.

Vermin · 29/05/2023 19:59

any recommendations of what they do still actually sell (pref via Ocado, which is even further limited) and that’s worth buying?
