To expect her to pay for all of it?

My home has two bedrooms.

On Thursday I went on a night out with friends and didn't drink. I went home early.

My friend couldn't get a taxi back from the town and was very drunk, she called me and I got out of bed to pick her up at 3am and brought her back to mine as she lives 8 miles away.

She slept in my son's bed as he wasn't here.

I went in yesterday to change the bedding to see she had been sick all over the mattress, wall, duvet and pillows. All the bedding will need to be replaced.

She says she doesn't remember being sick.

She has offered to pay half for new bedding. Is this reasonable?

Of course it’s not. Her lack of memory isn’t your problem. She needs to pay for all of it. Cheeky mare.

sunmonlight · 09/04/2023 12:14

I'm not good with these things and I don't want to fall out with her. I don't know what to say/do.

OP posts:
Iwasafool · 09/04/2023 12:14

Well it isn't fair but it's better than nothing which is probably the other option. I don't believe she didn't know, she must have noticed when she woke up if it was as bad as that.

UndercoverCop · 09/04/2023 12:14

No that's not reasonable!! How can she not remember? She woke up in the morning and left so would've seen the disgusting mess she left. She vomitted in your child's bed I would be furious.
You've already gone above and beyond getting up at 3am to rescue her. Outrageous for her to even suggest going halves

Softoprider · 09/04/2023 12:15

If she doesn't pay for any of it will you still be friends?

She should obviously pay

UndercoverCop · 09/04/2023 12:15

I also would've be bothered about losing this friend over this, any response other than utterly mortified, full apology and offer to pay for any damage, is not a friend

UndercoverCop · 09/04/2023 12:15

Wouldn't

AnneLovesGilbert · 09/04/2023 12:16

Sounds like she’s got no problem falling out with you…

2chocolateoranges · 09/04/2023 12:16

She left without acknowledging what she had done? Vile!

id be asking for all the money.

if she had apologised and was upset about it I’d be expecting her to pay towards it but the fact she just left would have me raging!

OnaBegonia · 09/04/2023 12:17

Why does it all need replaced? sick is normally able to be washed out.

MsVestibule · 09/04/2023 12:21

So she left on Friday morning without telling you that she'd been sick all over the bedroom 😨. I find that worse than only offering to pay half.

How did you tell her about it? Text or phone call? Was she at all apologetic?

SunnieShine · 09/04/2023 12:21

Absolutely vile leaving sick in your spare room and not telling you. I can't get my head around that.

sunmonlight · 09/04/2023 12:21

It was all covered underneath the duvet and nobody had been in there.

I went in to change the bedding before my son came back, pulled back the duvet and saw it all.

So it's been soaking for the best part of two days.

Would you seriously give your child bedding that some random drunk women had been sick on??????? Seriously? There isn't enough washing powder in Britain!

OP she should pay for all of it and she should be bloody grateful that you went and rescued her. Grim mare should have used the toilet like an actual responsible adult.

sunmonlight · 09/04/2023 12:22

She has been very apologetic. She says she didn't know and had no sick in her hair etc.

I've just heard from a mutual friend that she is convinced it was the dog, who slept in there with her (upon her request) but it is nothing like dog vomit.

*woman.

determinedtomakethiswork · 09/04/2023 12:24

Oh god, what a filthy pig she is. She got out of that bed knowing it was covered in sick and didn't say anything to you? She needs to pay for everything.

Exactly my first thought! How profligate of the OP. Does she replace all the bedding every time her child wets the bed? Seems a bit CF of @sunmonlight tbh, like she’s seen this as an opportunity to buy new bedding at her friend’s expense! Like the woman whose car my horse jumped sideways into, who lied that she’d paid £180 to have her car valeted to get rid of the shattered window glass, when any household hoover would have done it for the price of the electricity it used.

Oh great she's sending her flying monkey to convince you that she didn't do what you know she did. Ask yourself how one-sided this friendship is because based on this one incident it's looking very one-sided that you fall into the role of helper while she swans around irresponsibly endangering herself and treating your home like shit.

What a disgusting thing to do. She should just own it.

OnaBegonia · 09/04/2023 12:25

@BabaBooPuffinsRock
Bedding can be washed, do you throw everything out if your child is sick on it??
OP I can see the issue if it's lay there two days.

This. Like fuck did she not know!

sunmonlight · 09/04/2023 12:26

@MavisMcMinty

It's been soaking for nearly two days, it's all saturated with thick, foul smelling sick. It's soaked through to the other side of the pillows, all throughout the duvet?

OP posts:
Cherryana · 09/04/2023 12:27

Convinced it was the dog my arse.

She is getting her PR out swiftly to your other friends. To lose her as a friend would be a gain.

partypompoms · 09/04/2023 12:27

She might think you are pushing it by asking for all new bedding when realistically it could be washed and just get a new duvet and pillow.

Are you 100% it's not the dog?

I think this isn't as black and white as I first thought.
