To expect her to pay for all of it?

My home has two bedrooms.

On Thursday I went on a night out with friends and didn't drink. I went home early.

My friend couldn't get a taxi back from the town and was very drunk, she called me and I got out of bed to pick her up at 3am and brought her back to mine as she lives 8 miles away.

She slept in my son's bed as he wasn't here.

I went in yesterday to change the bedding to see she had been sick all over the mattress, wall, duvet and pillows. All the bedding will need to be replaced.

She says she doesn't remember being sick.

She has offered to pay half for new bedding. Is this reasonable?

That's gross. Particularly as it's been festering there for two days. She should pay in full to replace.

Unbakey · 09/04/2023 12:27

@MavisMcMinty
That's not comparable at all.
If that had happened to my car, I would not be content with using a household hoover to get the glass gone. Small children and also- not my problem to fix if you caused the damage! But valet would be under £100 and I have a 7 seater so £180 is unreasonable

sunmonlight · 09/04/2023 12:28

I haven't asked for her to pay for new bedding yet.

She said (without me asking) that she will pay half of replacing any bedding.

It was not the dog. I know what dog vomit is like. And also (tmi) her vomit had food in it that I know she had eaten that night.

How could she get up and not noticed she had been sick?

spidereggs · 09/04/2023 12:30

So she's a liar then. No way you could wake up with that much sick and not know about it.

Ludo19 · 09/04/2023 12:30

If she won't pay in full tell her to get to fuck. That's honestly disgusting. She knew there was vomit unless she was still pie eyed from the night before, still no excuse!

Thesharkradar · 09/04/2023 12:31

I don't want to fall out with her
This dreadful person has treated you with complete contempt and you don't want to fall out with her?
You would be well rid of her, I would have nothing whatsoever to do with her again!

Ask her to pay for all of it with a FYI it wasn't the dog as it had kebab in it.

Beamur · 09/04/2023 12:33

Cheeky mare.
I'd be saying it's not just the bedding it's the vomit soaked pillows, mattress and duvet too.

FinallyHere · 09/04/2023 12:34

she is convinced it was the dog

Yeah, right.

Having myself once been violently sick in bed (and grumpy with DH who tried to wake me up ) after my drink was spiked, I could almost believe that she didn't notice at the time. When she did wake up, though ....

Laughable that she is trying to blame the dog. I'm not sure I would want to be friends with her after that.

Might not want to chase her for money, either. Might, if I could afford to, prefer to just avoid her in future.

I'm sorry this has happened to you.

youshouldnthaveasked · 09/04/2023 12:34

She should definitely pay. And why would she want your dog in there with her?

it sounds like she’s saved a fair bit of money that she would have spent on taxi fare as well. Cheeky see you next Tuesday

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 09/04/2023 12:35

She should pay for the whole thing, dirty bitch. She didn't tell you and left it to soak for two days until you found out yourself. What a grim individual.

ChickenDhansak82 · 09/04/2023 12:35

OMG that's minging.

I would demand she comes round, and removes the pillow, bedding and mattress, disposes of them herself, and replaces them herself.

If she then wants to wash them and keep them then that's up to her!

LakeTiticaca · 09/04/2023 12:37

sunmonlight · 09/04/2023 12:21

It was all covered underneath the duvet and nobody had been in there.

I went in to change the bedding before my son came back, pulled back the duvet and saw it all.

So it's been soaking for the best part of two days.

Did you not smell anything for 2 days? I would have thought it would have started smelling a whiff of sick when you went upstairs?

billy1966 · 09/04/2023 12:38

What an absolutely disgusting person.

There is no way she was not fully aware of what she did.

Not fall out with her?

I couldn't look at someone so utterly filthy.

Have you taken photos?

I hope you have.

sunmonlight · 09/04/2023 12:38

Did you not smell anything for 2 days? I would have thought it would have started smelling a whiff of sick when you went upstairs?

No I had no idea until I pulled the duvet back.

sst1234 · 09/04/2023 12:40

What? Where do people find friends like these. Even animals don’t do stuff like this.

sst1234 · 09/04/2023 12:41

spidereggs · 09/04/2023 12:30

So she's a liar then. No way you could wake up with that much sick and not know about it.

That’s probably how she lives in her own house. Some people are worse than animals.

BreviloquentBastard · 09/04/2023 12:41

Fall out with the grotty bitch FFS, this isn't acceptable behaviour for a grown adult, why do you care about keeping her as a friend?

Kastri · 09/04/2023 12:42

She is not your friend, she is a user.Get her out of your life.

Miscellaneousme · 09/04/2023 12:42

That’s grim, she needs to pay for the lot.

LakeTiticaca · 09/04/2023 12:42

Shes taking the pisse. Of course she knew she had barfed. If she was sick in the bed surely it would be on her clothing as well. Possibly in her hair as well. Nobody can "not smell" vomit. It absolutely stinks

user1471538283 · 09/04/2023 12:43

She knew what she'd done! To get so drunk you throw up in bed?

Of course she should replace it all. Chase her for it. She is not your friend.

Catwithbigfeet · 09/04/2023 12:44

She pays for the lot to be replaced and then you dump her for being a cf

vonniee · 09/04/2023 12:44

She is definitely at it, what a cf. The smell itself would be a giveaway. Definitely not unreasonable
