People who identify as Trans Abled …

We have all head about transgender, but recently I’ve heard more and more about transableism. These are healthy people who think they were born in the wrong body and that they should have been born into a disabled persons body.

Surely this is the line. People cannot identify as disabled. People cannot pretend to be disabled. This is the point we must say that this is now mental illness. You cannot just go around identifying as whatever you want.

AIBU to say this is ridiculous and must be stamped out and the fact it even has a name is insanity.

How DARE you try and say that someone who has blinded themselves is the same as someone naturally blind

Calm down. That is not what I said at all. At no point did I say its the "same" I just said she is now blind. That is a fact.

Twiggywinkle13 · 19/03/2023 20:48

one day people are going to look back on this utter ridiculousness and realise these people had mental illnesses. Whatever ‘trans’ bracket people are in, they’re just pretending to be something they’re not. 🙄

Not blind. Stupid! There’s a bloody difference. And it’s time we stopped supporting all this as a society. Where are our politicians standing up to this?

To me, the line is people identifying into a different sex.

Wear what you want. Call yourself what you like. Live under whatever regressive sexual stereotype takes your fancy. it doesn’t change your biological reality anymore than saying you’re disabled does.

The Emperor has no clothes.

Speaking of identifying as a dolphin,South Park did an episode about getting a Dolphinoplasty back in 2005

You’re only wrong in assuming it hasn’t happened yet.

Agreed. Michael Jackson a prime example of this.

I can't even find the words. The fact that some people are also prepared to entertain these delusions is equally sick.

Funny how it doesn't work the other way. I'm sure my DD would love to identify out of her various disabilities.

But she is blind? Yes she did it to herself but she now has a disability.

Conkersinautumn · 19/03/2023 20:55

This isn't new. There were postcwar scandals about faking injury etc

Somebodiesmother · 19/03/2023 20:55

Bloody hell, I'd love to be trapped in a working body.

IClaudine · 19/03/2023 20:55

Pretty soon paedophiles will start to identify as children so they can play in parks, join brownies/cubs, play in kids sports teams, go to soft play on their own and play with the kids

I bet my house that this is not going to happen.

I have a feeling this thread won't be around for too long.

Vallmo47 · 19/03/2023 20:55

I’m with the poster that said they welcome this because it brings light to how ludicrous it’s all become. Where do you draw the line?

Supersimkin2 · 19/03/2023 20:56

The absence of beds in UK psych wards contributes, presumably.

I’m all for live and let live when it comes to self-ID but it really still is ok to call a diagnosed schizophrenic a schizophrenic.

And a bore. Like all delusional obsessives, they aren’t interesting, they aren’t necessarily good news for other people and they’re not that clever. They’re entitled to our respect as a person, but their views don’t have to be.

Chenford · 19/03/2023 20:56

Agreed.

Likewise, I’m sure many oppressed biological females (Middle East, I’m looking at you 👀) would like to be able to identify as males and be treated accordingly.

Ain’t never going to happen because - quelle surprise - it’s the generally the oppressor identifying as a member of the oppressed.

What's a did?

"Dissociative identity disorder (DID) used to be called multiple personality disorder. Someone diagnosed with DID may feel uncertain about their identity and who they are. They may feel the presence of other identities, each with their own names, voices, personal histories and mannerisms"

There are many young people identifying as having this, however their pretence on social media presents as nothing like genuine people with DID - which is extremely rare.

However I think this is also dangerous for troubled and suggestive young people who could very easily take themselves down a rabbit hole and damage their mental health in the process - it is not good to take your mind to these places imo.

Bonkersworknonsense · 19/03/2023 21:00

I said you’re being unreasonable as all of it is across the line. Men cosplaying as women (or “transwomen” as they’d have it), white people wanting to identify into being poc. All of it. People are what they are and it’s all a sign we’re collectively losing our grip on reality.

Toseland · 19/03/2023 21:01

Surely this is the line. People cannot identify as disabled.
The line is way back there, years ago, when our polititians, shops, banks and others totally betrayed women and all started pandering to men with a sexual fetish saying they were lesbians and ignoring, belittling and attacking women who said NO!

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 19/03/2023 21:02

I know someone who would love to identify as a person who can walk rather than being a lifelong wheelchair user. Odd how it can't work both ways.

Nowhereelsetogo90 · 19/03/2023 21:03

What the fuck? These people need help. Massively. We can’t just call severe mental illness “identifying” as something.

maddening · 19/03/2023 21:04

AllOfThemWitches · 19/03/2023 20:45

Jesus fucking christ. If you poor bleach into your fucking eyes you are clearly severely mentally ill and should absolutely get treatment on the NHS.

Yes, mental health treatment and treatment for damage you have done - not eye removal.

Some people identify as dead en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cotard%27s_syndrome?wprov=sfla1 (we don't bury them or pretend we can't see them).

The human brain is a wonderful and terrible thing.

This is genius I love it

I will identify as trans dead because it is the perfect card to pull when you don't want to do something.
I might ring in work tomorrow and tell my boss I identify as dead and so won't be able to make it. Its the NHS as well so they will go along with it. 😁

Lordofthebutterfloofs · 19/03/2023 21:07

If I woke up tomorrow and told everyone I know that I am a chicken, demanded people refer to me a cluckers and laid legs around the office they would have me committed.

This is no different.

Minimummonday · 19/03/2023 21:08

I love this thread just for discovering Cotard’s syndrome. How fascinating

Riverlee · 19/03/2023 21:10

Fuwari · 19/03/2023 20:07

There was a show on a few years back with a bunch of "misfits" for want of a better word. One guy did have a leg amputated because he felt so strongly he was only meant to have one leg. The concept horrifies and amazes me. It is clearly a form of mental illness. I can only feel sorry for people who feel that way. No sane person would deliberately blind themselves. That is not the same as a male rapist saying he's female to get into a women's prison or a male athlete identifying as female to win at sport. It's completely different.

Possibly watched the same programme or something similar. I remember a woman who ‘b3came disabled’, possibly after watching a tv programme about disabilities. Basically, she felt paralysed/her legs no longer worked, but every test carried out confirmed they functioned properly.

This programme was before the current trans movement - I think it was more about medical problems rather than trans issues.
