People who identify as Trans Abled …

We have all head about transgender, but recently I’ve heard more and more about transableism. These are healthy people who think they were born in the wrong body and that they should have been born into a disabled persons body.

Surely this is the line. People cannot identify as disabled. People cannot pretend to be disabled. This is the point we must say that this is now mental illness. You cannot just go around identifying as whatever you want.

AIBU to say this is ridiculous and must be stamped out and the fact it even has a name is insanity.

There was a show on a few years back with a bunch of "misfits" for want of a better word. One guy did have a leg amputated because he felt so strongly he was only meant to have one leg. The concept horrifies and amazes me. It is clearly a form of mental illness. I can only feel sorry for people who feel that way. No sane person would deliberately blind themselves. That is not the same as a male rapist saying he's female to get into a women's prison or a male athlete identifying as female to win at sport. It's completely different.

Does noone else feel compassion for these poor troubled people? Imagine pouring bleach into your own eyes!

No, they are attention seeking idiots. It’s strange how people in developing countries struggling with real problems don’t have these whims.

TobeLeRone · 19/03/2023 20:08

Is it really any different to identifying as a different race or sex?
All of it is either mental illness or fetish, none of it should be validated.

TequilaSunrose · 19/03/2023 20:09

Surely now is time to say enough is enough. The cost on the NHS must be massive. And what we need to appreciate is none of this came up 50-100 years ago, the word trans just didn’t exist! What’s changed and how do we change it back??

I don't think most of us are WTAF-ing against the people themselves - clearly they have a terrible mental illness and need support like anyone else with mental health issues.

Certainly my personal WTAF was aimed at people interpreting it as them being 'trapped in working bodies' as opposed to very poorly.

It's like meeting a psychotic person and, instead of treating them for psychosis, trying to convince the rest of us that they are indeed the next son of God.

I think self harming to that extent goes a bit beyond attention seeking. People in developing countries don't have half the 'whims' we have.

I welcome this. Alongside the trans-racial people hitting the news also. Simply because it shines a light on how ridiculous it all is.

I watched a podcast show recently in which some men (who identified as women) stormed off in protest as the male presenter said he would never date them as he was not a homosexual. They took exception, said they were woman, and that he was mean!

That's were we are at in the world. Stating facts is transphobic.

If it was not for the awful impact this nonsense has on children and womens' rights it would be absolutely hilarious.

ResisterRex · 19/03/2023 20:10

It's the logical conclusion of forcing others to collude in your visions of self.

BakedTattie · 19/03/2023 20:12

I genuinely despair of the human race at times

QueenCamilla · 19/03/2023 20:12

The same as surgery-seeking Transsexuals. They are identifying themselves into disabilities too.

I don’t think it’s different at all.

At one time, this dysphoria would’ve all been treated on the same ward. But now -
lose a leg = horror
Hurt woman = meh who cares yass queen

SqB · 19/03/2023 20:14

Totally agree. My Mother is disabled, and this has disgusted me. I’m sure if it were my child and be even more disgusted. So insulting.

HelloWorldMessage · 19/03/2023 20:14

@UWhatNow I fully agree. I consider anyone who considers themselves to be something they are factually not (in terms of sex, race, disability etc) to be mentally ill.

Minimummonday · 19/03/2023 20:14

It is no more ridiculous than a man saying he is a woman or vice versa. It’s simply that somehow there is a debate about transgenderism when there really should be no debate. A man cannot be a woman, and a woman cannot be a man. Period.

this. It’s no different. If you accept that you accept this

smellyflowers · 19/03/2023 20:16

maddening · 19/03/2023 20:04

There are people identifying into mental illness as well - such as the many DID Tik toks

What's a did?

Minimummonday · 19/03/2023 20:16

@Fuwari but a man who thinks he’s a woman and has his penis removed is not mentally ill?

donquixotedelamancha · 19/03/2023 20:17

Some people identify as dead (we don't bury them or pretend we can't see them).

Yet.

veggiegestational · 19/03/2023 20:18

Dacadactyl · 19/03/2023 20:03

I'm trans-rich. Means I identify as a millionaire and I demand the government make this happen!

Same!!!

Appleass · 19/03/2023 20:19

I am trans slender, I am actually fat, but identify as slim

BellePeppa · 19/03/2023 20:21

TequilaSunrose · 19/03/2023 19:59

That’s exactly what trans ableism is. People who get arms chopped off to be amputees because that’s how they feel. There’s a woman who poured chemicals into her eye because she identified as blind. It can’t be right surely?

Sheesh!🥴 It’s a mental illness for sure. Seems very distasteful to put it under the banner of trans but if it helps dig the trans grave then 🤷‍♀️

Brokendaughter · 19/03/2023 20:21

What is the difference?

I am both a woman & someone who is disabled.

Both are part of who I am, just different parts.
'Identifying' as either of them is equally bizarre & untrue.

I do. Pouring bleach into your eyes because you think you should be blind is clearly a sign of being quite unwell.

smellyflowers · 19/03/2023 20:16

What's a did?

Dissociative Identity Disorder - Used to be known as multiple personality syndrome.

Some people are pretending to have severe mental illness for kicks.

INamechangedForThisMadness · 19/03/2023 20:26

I had a teenager ask me the other week if he could identify as someone with Down's syndrome.

I had to explain why, though it was totally acceptable for him to identify as someone with a difference of chromosome 23, it was socially unacceptable to identify as someone with a difference of chromosome 21.

(It was a poor explanation, in fairness, that went along the lines of "I don't make the rules!")

CharlieTown · 19/03/2023 20:05

The problem is we feel compassion for them as they are clearly mentally unwell. But they don't see it that way. They see their pathological needs as being normal, and they want us to make allowances for them, and accept them, rather than treating them as if they're unwell. And that's what I object to. I can't live my life dictated but the mental illness of others.
