To be raging that DH puked on the carpet

He's not drunk.
He's had a bad stomach all day, lots of loud burping and moaning that he feels ill. Although he felt well enough to eat a nandos at 2pm.
At around midnight he goes to the bathroom and I hear him retching. He comes back to bed and carries on with the loud burping.
At half past midnight he vomits twice on the bedroom carpet on the way to the bathroom.
Im raging because my argument is that if you feel sick you keep a bowl next to you. I've known a grown adult vomit on the carpet.
He says I'm disrespectful and unkind to have a go at him because he's ill.

Yeah he should have known really!!

Thisisformathilda · 12/03/2023 01:31

I would lose it!

Willyswaggingfinger · 12/03/2023 01:32

It fucking stinks in here. We don't have a spare room either so there's no escape.

Some people are surprise pukers. I am so I keep a bowl on me. Some people know when they're going to and don't.

Is he going to clean it up?

Btjdkfnn · 12/03/2023 01:33

Obviously the sick bowl should have been with him, in bed even

yetii · 12/03/2023 01:33

Can you sleep on the sofa? To escape the smell?

Spartak · 12/03/2023 01:34

So when you heard him retching in the bathroom, why didn't you go and get a bowl and put it by his side of the bed?

No because 5 month DD is still in with us. All the commotion woke her up as well which made me even more happy.

@MrsTerryPratchett he tried by rubbing it in to the carpet. I ended up doing it my way but he helped as I barked orders at him.

Because he's not my child. I would assume if an adult needed a bowl they would get one themselves.

He's not drunk.

Are you saying you'd excuse him if he was? Confused

As long as he is the one to clean it up, I can't see a problem. It's 'punishment' enough cleaning up last night's puke from the carpet.

Bepis · 12/03/2023 01:39

If this was my DH, I'd have sympathy that he was unwell and would want to look after him. I'm sure he didn't purposely throw up on the carpet. It can be cleaned.

No it wouldn't be ok if he was.
I just wanted to get that out there in case that was the assumption.

Is it really so difficult to help a sick person by placing a bowl by the bed for them to puke into?

I'd be getting the bucket for DH and even emptying it after he's thrown up. I'd want him to stay in bed and rest.

Well you assumed wrong, and now you've got a stinking bedroom.

Would it really have been that much of an imposition to get a bowl into place, knowing that he's ill?

Goneblank38 · 12/03/2023 01:44

You're being harsh - he's ill. He's not being a dick on purpose. He's not a child but he is your husband and presumably you like him? If my husband lost it at me like this when I was sick, I'd be furious. It's really unkind.

Are you knackered from baby and misdirection your frustration? If so, I'd apologise.

Well if he couldn't even reach the bathroom on time I'd say yes, it was too difficult really 🤷🏻‍♀️

I would've got my DH a bowl if he was ill....cos I quite like him!

Ah, got you.

Smother it with 1001 Carpet Cleaner * and deal with it tomorrow.

KathieFerrars · 12/03/2023 01:46

I have some sympathy with him. I'm up at the mo because of an upset stomach. Sometimes you can feel sick but think its not going to be actual vomit and likely he thought he'd risk getting to the loo in time. However, bloody annoying and feel for you with the pong. To be honest, I'd clean it up now rather than have the pong setting in. I remember once my eldest was about 8 and unusually he was ill in the night. Came into bed with me and then felt sick. He accurately aimed it into my slippers so 'I wouldn't spoil the new carpet'.

TheHateIsNotGood · 12/03/2023 01:49

Not that hard, although it would be nice if a kind person helped me; alas for me I have no one to set a puke-bowl by my bed.

Seems my high standards were correct after all - best alone rather than second or less best. How awful for the OP to not have kindness in her relatioship 'set up'.

strawberryblue · 12/03/2023 01:49

Do you have any baking powder? Throw it all over the vomit patch and tomorrow hoover hopefully should help smel

Could get one for him with him feeling unwell. These sickness bugs can make you feel so weak and dizzy.

bizzywiththefizzy · 12/03/2023 01:51

Just a quick question 😁does everyone have a special sick bowl that only comes out when someone feels sick or shock horror use the cake mixing bowl ?😮

We don't use bowls, we use the bucket if someone is sick.
