She caused the death of a woman!

Sentencing Grey, Judge Enright said she was "territorial about the pavement" and "resented" the cyclist being there.
The trial heard Grey had cerebral palsy and was partially sighted, but the judge said: "These actions are not explained by disability."
He said that she had given a "dishonest account in interview" and there was "not a word about remorse until today".
Judge Enright added that "consideration of other road users is the lesson of this tragic case".

So yes, I feel the sentence is sound.

Well that's for the jury and judge to decided - those who have all the facts of the case

but IMO she caused someone's death and then walked away so yeah she needs to be dealt with accordingly

Someone died but it was an accident. Pure and simple. Accidents do happen.

I agree, it's a tragedy but I don't think it benefits society her being jailed.

If I’d had been my mum on the bike and she’d have died then yes, I’d want her punished.
There are lots of people in prison because of a ‘moment of madness’….when that moment of madness leads to someone’s death then a punishment is needed, in my eyes.

It wasn't an accident. Her actions directly led to someone's death. Then instead of helping, or calling for help she left the scene and went shopping

In light of other convictions for manslaughter (which is often negotiated down from murder) I just cant see it.

There was nothing “accidental” about the way she harangued that elderly woman off the pavement into the path of an oncoming vehicle. There was also nothing accidental about her not giving enough shits to hang around to see if she would be ok. She just nipped off to the supermarket to do her weekly shop.

Considering the judge seems to refer to road users when the incident was a pavement and states it was a cycle path when the police and council can't confirm that I don't have great confidence in his judgement.

Lack of remorse isnt an indication of whether a crime was committed though? It should have a bearing on sentencing yes, but she caused an accident and fucked off. It does make her a shitty person. But you cant go around imprisoning every shitty person, prisons would be full by goverment ministers alone.

@Blort she didn’t ‘tell her off.’ That is massively minimising.

She literally shoved her into oncoming traffic. She meant her harm.

You can't go scaring people into evasive action that causes an incident that kills them. It's an appropriate sentence to my mind, and she probably won't serve that long.
