I booked a nice hotel a couple of hours away from home for tonight and paid for train fares as a little valentines treat.
Altogether cost around £250
It's been booked for a month.
Anyway it gets to today and he says "babe I feel so sick I can't go away -my back is aching and I've got a blocked nose"
Okay
So I say can we not just go -even if we just go to hotel and enjoy the room.
He refused
So that money is Wasted
Also I booked a bottomless brunch and the no show fee is £20

Anyway trains gone now so we have missed it
I'm in living room and he's watching tv in bed

Aibu to be annoyed ?

Is he hungover?

songasongasing · 11/02/2023 11:48

No not hungover
I had a cold and I think maybe he's coming down with that

JorisBonson · 11/02/2023 11:49

He can't help it if he's ill.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 11/02/2023 11:49

Why didn't he just take some Nurofen or something and go?

Does seem a waste. Can you drive there with a friend instead?

songasongasing · 11/02/2023 11:50

He hasn't exactly got a leg hanging off
He has a blocked nose and feels sickly because he has a bit of a cold.

You should have gone anyway, tried to find a friend last minute. If he's actually unwell then that can't be helped but i get why you're distracted.

songasongasing · 11/02/2023 11:50

@Hungrycaterpillarsmummy unfortunately too short notice for anyone to sort childcare

Nimbostratus100 · 11/02/2023 11:51

go anyway, I would

KoalaPineapple · 11/02/2023 11:51

I’d be annoyed! Went a pre booked hotel with a raging UTI once, just sat in the room and drank copious water and cranberry juice but was still nice to just be somewhere else ha! Men!

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 11/02/2023 11:51

Oh come off it, he's sick!

Train journey and hotel when you just want to curl up in your own bed with your own home comforts? Are you really that bloody insensitive?

MoserRothOrangeandAlmond · 11/02/2023 11:51

I would have text a friend, mam or sister and asked if they want to come.

StarsSand · 11/02/2023 11:51

You should have gone by yourself. Silly to waste the money

Paq · 11/02/2023 11:51

Why didn't you just go?

CleaningOutMyCloset · 11/02/2023 11:53

Go on your own

MrsRickAstley · 11/02/2023 11:53

Will he reimburse you ?

CharlotteStreetW1 · 11/02/2023 11:53

I'd have gone with a mate or even by myself - I did that once when my then boyfriend had flu. He actually did have flu but I so was angry and disappointed (it was for Christmas!), I couldn't bear to be near him. I suspect I was being unreasonable 😂

rogueone · 11/02/2023 11:53

Well personally I think it’s a bit shit of him. He could have still come along and enjoyed the night away . I am assuming he didn’t contribute financially to it so the loss is all yours?

songasongasing · 11/02/2023 11:53

I didn't really fancy going alone and just sitting in the hotel by myself or going for bottomless brunch on a Saturday alone. Pointless

OP posts:
Jurassicparkinajug · 11/02/2023 11:53

It's only a cold, he definitely should've made the effort. If it was flu then fair enough. It sounds to me like he wasn't that bothered about going

songasongasing · 11/02/2023 11:54

He was at work yesterday with it so it's deffo not the flu.
No he won't reimburse me for it at all

Id have gone anyway. Night alone in a hotel is bliss.

TheLastDreamOfTheOak · 11/02/2023 11:55

I'd LOVE a night away on my own!!

user1497787065 · 11/02/2023 11:55

He sounds like a child wanting to skip school.

Or an adult phoning in sick - back ache, a runny nose and feeling sick don't usually go together.

user1497787065 · 11/02/2023 11:56

He just doesn't want to go.

neverbeenskiing · 11/02/2023 11:56

MrsRickAstley · 11/02/2023 11:53

Will he reimburse you ?

If a woman posted on here saying she felt too ill to go on a planned night away and her DP was demanding she "reimburse" him she'd be told to LTB.
