To think trans women don't belong in womens prisons for women

Trans women are not women and don’t belong in any spaces made for biological women. This includes women’s prisons.

Women in prison are vulnerable. Men in transition should not under any circumstances be given access to them. He is still ‘fully equipped’ looking at the outline in his leggings and is a double rapist. His/her feelings are not the most important.

I know on MN many won't agree, but I do think there are times when a women's prison would be more appropriate.

If a transwoman has been living as a woman for years, had no prior criminal history and is going to do time for fraud I can see why they would go to a women's prison.

The two high profile recent decisions however are batshit and demonstrate a complete lack of risk assessment.

YANBU. The only time I'd say it was OK would be if the trans woman had sex reassignment surgery and the crimes they committed weren't sex crimes.

Imagine being locked in a cell with a 6ft person with a pony tail and being told its safe.

Being made to shower with a man watching you?

Prison is supposed to be a punishment but not dangerous or traumatising.

The gradual removal of womens safe spaces is a travesty. But the menz feelz must be accomodated at all costs!

There will be posters along to accuse us all of trans-hate though. God forbid we should stick up for women.

And if, like many transwomen, they’re sexually attracted to women, you’re still OK with that?

Do you not see how unfeasible it is to say, ‘we’ll, you’re allowed in if you’ve committed a ‘nice’ crime (fraud, AKA lying and stealing aren’t so bad, right? Hmm), but you’re not allowed in if you’ve committed a naughty crime….?

I mean ….. seriously………………?

I’m really happy so many newspapers and tv news programmes have illustrated this story with photos of these obviously male men, pre ‘transition’.

I think up to now a lot of the ‘be kind’ let’s all identify how we want well-meaning lefties have had a warm fuzzy picture of trans women as delicate effeminate men who’ve fought a lifelong battle of not fitting in amongst other men and traditional standards of masculinity. The photos this week of big aggressive looking blokes who claim to identify as female when it’s convenient should hopefully give these people pause for thought.

A fully transitioned person who has lived their chosen gender prior to committing the crime which is not of a sexual nature should be treated as their chosen gender. This is simply not the same as someone identifying as the opposite gender after committing a crime
