Complications from trans surgery!

I know it's a daily mail article but I can't help thinking. We only ever hear positive stories but the figures tell us this. I really hope the men and woman are getting the support they need from these complications. 🥺

Half of trans surgery patients suffer pain, sexual issues years later mol.im/a/11629421 via dailym.ai/android

Abhorrent.

littlelid · 16/01/2023 20:30

Maybe they need to study surgery more to find the complications

sensechec · 16/01/2023 20:31

Maybe one needs these types of stupid surgeries

sensechec · 16/01/2023 20:32
  • maybe no one
SomethingLessIdentifiable · 16/01/2023 20:34

These surgeries are a mass medical lawsuit waiting to happen.

Catori · 16/01/2023 20:39

"Of the 80 trans women sampled in the Canadian study, almost 54% reported ongoing pain up to two years after their vaginoplasty surgery. Many had more than one symptom, which included vaginal dryness, numbness, malodor and issues with the wound's healing" Heartbreaking that the down side to these procedures is not fully explained to those seeking these type of surgeries. Other European studies I have read report similar issues. The only people that appear to be benefitting from these largely experimental surgeries are the surgeons who financially benefit and of course the pharmaceutical companies that benefit from these males being on lifelong cross sex hormones and other meds for the complications that usually come with that medical regime.

Complications from trans surgery!

Oh well

Babdoc · 16/01/2023 20:43

Why are they calling it a vaginoplasty? No surgeon can create a vagina - what these men have received is basically a surgical fistula, with all the inevitable problems that come with it.

Skinnermarink · 16/01/2023 20:46

Well that’s hardly blimming surprising is it. Creating body parts in a body that wasn’t designed that way.

Exactly.

I know some parents who might be navigating this difficult issue. My main concern is that these kids and young adults get proper mental health support. It just makes me sick that's companies are making a profit out of giving kids and young people drugs and surgery. I'm.no scientist but aren't we meant to go through puberty for genetic reasons? And health stuff. If this is stopped then surgery won't this affect them???

Well it's not surprising that surgery on a part of your anatomy involved in sexual and urinary function, with a very high concentration of nerve endings, often results in complications.
These surgeries are not necessary for physical health, they are often justified on the grounds that they improve mental health, but there is no actual evidence that this is the case.
Its a medical scandal worse than lobotomies.

MiaMoor · 16/01/2023 20:54

Creating a gaping wound leads to high rates of complications.
Who’d have thought it.

When grown adults are choosing this when there is plenty of information out there stating the high risk, they can do what they like. Presumably they are making an informed decision.
When teenagers are clamouring for double mastectomies and hysterectomies we should be putting more time and effort into mental health care and not affirming this delusion.

People are being duped. This trans juggernaught will be stopped in its tracks as law suit after law suit starts to roll in.

Surgeons will push back as insurance companies won't insure for the surgery.
Can't come quick enough to save future lives

And why are the saying the surgery turns a man into a woman or vice versa. More to both sexes than visible genitalia even if any of this sounds like it looks convincing. Which I doubt it does.

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 16/01/2023 21:04

I saw this earlier, it's terrible. I have seen about some of the side effects before, they have to stretch the hole several times a day and it can be incredibly painful. If they don't, they close up and that's even more pain.
I've seen many de-transitioners online speak out about their experience and be bullied for it. They mutilated their bodies for nothing.

Ihatedonuts · 16/01/2023 21:06

I'm sorry what do you mean stretch the hole???

Ihatedonuts · 16/01/2023 21:07

A fistula?

OP posts:
IcallitVera · 16/01/2023 21:08

In much the same way as you twist or wiggle a new ear piercing to stop it closing.

It's just a surgical wound being kept open after all.

Dilating using dildo type objects. They have to insert them daily to stop the wound closing. Imagine how painful.

Ihatedonuts · 16/01/2023 21:09

But how can it kept open for years?? I must be missing something here. Ears are different to downstairs!!!
