Complications from trans surgery!

I know it's a daily mail article but I can't help thinking. We only ever hear positive stories but the figures tell us this. I really hope the men and woman are getting the support they need from these complications. 🥺

Half of trans surgery patients suffer pain, sexual issues years later mol.im/a/11629421 via dailym.ai/android

Maybe some of the TRAs could look into this situation on behalf of trans people instead of sending awful death threats to JKR and ruining the careers of decent academics.

PizzaNinja · 16/01/2023 21:26

What I can’t understand is the people that do the surgeries. Imagine training to be a doctor, and then essentially damaging healthy bodies intentionally. It’s just grossly unethical.

Ihatedonuts · 16/01/2023 21:09

But how can it kept open for years?? I must be missing something here. Ears are different to downstairs!!!

It doesn’t. The body tries to seal it. So they have to dilate every single day for ever. It’s not real. Look up how it’s done - actually don’t it’s absolutely horrific.

Dilating using dildo type objects. They have to insert them daily to stop the wound closing. Imagine how painful.

TIL.

😭

Unsure33 · 16/01/2023 21:29

In this day and age it is not difficult to search SM and find out this information plus long term damage from taking hormones. There are a lot of de-transitioners in the USA sharing stories , including young girls really regretting top surgery . It is very sad because then also they are bullied by trans men and women as well as if they are dis-loyal. Heartbreaking .

Lockheart · 16/01/2023 21:14

This is an appalling response.

Regardless of where you stand on trans issues, these are still human beings who are suffering.

This is an elective surgical procedure, not a life-saving one. Surely people have a degree of responsibility to research the risks and complications that can arise, for themselves?

Ihatedonuts · 16/01/2023 21:29

Sorry kid woke up just seen dilating. Surely they don't have to do that forever???? I just hate the thought these kids / teenagers being told it will cure stuff. What about if they want to have kids later??? How does that work?

Yes for ever.

Yep. It's called post operative vaginal dilation. So they have to use a dildo effectively to keep stretching it several times a day. This is painful for them and even though it's painful, they still have to do it. Or it closes up.

Money . The amount of gender clinics in USA has grown extremely quickly . Money in drugs and surgery . And I don’t think people realised what was happening here either . Not the numbers as in USA but what happens in USA etc.

YANBU. This is common knowledge among those of us who’ve been following this odious issue for some time. The surgeries should be banned.

In thirty years time there’ll be the mother of all scandals and the NHS will have to pay out millions. Nobody in political power seems to want to know.

purpledalmation · 16/01/2023 21:32

No surprise, as a penis was not designed to be a vagina

BethDuttonsTwin · 16/01/2023 21:32

They also have to do it almost immediately after the surgery while the would is still not healed. Imagine the agony.

BethDuttonsTwin · 16/01/2023 21:32

wound.

howmanybicycles · 16/01/2023 21:33

Personally I don't support any extreme forms of body modification, whether it's attempting to mock up a superficial mock-up of a vagina or done for non-trans reasons. Just because we can do something does not mean we should.

we would be much better off investing the money in helping people to be able to detach their identity from their body and thereby live a life where they are true to themselves (albeit always the sex they're born because that can't change). Reinforcing the idea that the presence of absence of an appendage in your pants defines your personality is helping no-one.

They sell it that you can reduce how often you do it after some years and that if you have penetrative sex with a partner that will do instead but yeah - they have to dilate forever or lose the depth.

These surgeries are a mass medical lawsuit waiting to happen.

I agree

Absolutely horrific that these extremely risky and damaging surgeries are performed rather than alternative options of supporting trans people in accepting who they are.

I think trans people are being led to believe that they really will get a proper vagina and it will just be like a woman’s vagina. Rather than having a hole that grows hairs inside and is prone to infection

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 16/01/2023 21:34

Forever?! Omg

So if they are having regular sex, they can drop to dilation around once a month. After a few months of everyday dilation, it starts dropping to a few times a week. But they'll always have to do it.

These young people mostly need mental health support and their parents are told the surgery and drugs will solve their problems and parents go along with it as they are told their children may commit suicide if they don’t agree. I am sure most of you know the story of the lady from Mermaids ?

Msstakes · 16/01/2023 21:36

Blendy · 16/01/2023 20:39

Oh well

Vile response. What is actually wrong with you to think like this?
The pushing of poor surgery under dubious theory is horrendous.

littlelid · 16/01/2023 21:37

Ah aparantly for 3 months they have to do it and then it can go down to once a week

clutchingatpearls · 16/01/2023 21:38

Women on T can lose the ability to orgasm. Vaginal atrophy. Pain during sex. Nipple sensation lost due to mastectomy. What happens when you take away someone's ability to connect sexually with other humans? These butchers are cauterising their humanity.

Yes just read that bit. Still. Painful thing to put yourself through. I understand now why more people don't.

Ihatedonuts · 16/01/2023 21:40

Do they make money In the uK?
