I know it's a daily mail article but I can't help thinking. We only ever hear positive stories but the figures tell us this. I really hope the men and woman are getting the support they need from these complications. 🥺

Half of trans surgery patients suffer pain, sexual issues years later mol.im/a/11629421 via dailym.ai/android

Why are companies like Lush promoting the first steps to this? Weren’t they selling breast binders at one point?

Ihatedonuts · 16/01/2023 21:40

Whatever they are experiencing it is absolutely *not vaginal dryness or vaginal discharge. Truly, it sounds repulsive. Do they have sex? With wounds? I presume they have lost the ability to orgasm. I'm astonished that nearly half don't have these issues tbh

Testosterone

Have a look at this interview. I can't abide JP but he is very good with Chloe. I found the interview deeply moving and was appalled at her story.

MrsPutnamNaomiDarling · 16/01/2023 21:42

This must be why a lot of trans women keep their penises, surely?

LikeTearsInRain · 16/01/2023 21:43

Hopefully surgical methods will improve and there are other treatments or drugs that can lead to better outcomes for these Women

I bet more do but aren’t truthful about it.

Hair in vagina! What have I just read?

JacquelinePot · 16/01/2023 21:43

T = testosterone, in this context given to girls to make them grow facial and body hair and irreversibly deepen their voices.

Also causes vaginal atrophy and early menopause often leading to hysterectomy, thus rendering them infertile.

IcakethereforeIam · 16/01/2023 21:43

Potentially, in some countries such as Canada, trying to deter a child who is claiming to be trans would be called conversion therapy. You could be fined, even jailed and you might lose custody of your child. This type of legislation is being pushed for in Scotland.

Yes and I don’t blame them. The surgery is excruciating and risky.

If you’re at the point where you feel the need to lob off healthy body parts then it’s not surgery you need, it’s effective and acute psychiatric help

Do they make money In the uK?

Yes, and if done on the NHS we are all paying for it. Drugs companies selling hormones and puberty blockers into the NHS to kids who should be having mental health support are making money from us, subsidised by all taxpayers, and if someone is put on blockers and then on hormones for life then that's a tidy sum of annual recurring revenue for them. Cha-ching!

It's utterly appalling. I feel in many ways it's the ultimate expression of capitalism - choose your identity, demand medical services to give your body the makeover you believe aligns with your image and identity, and become a lifelong patient (read: Profit centre) for pharma companies. Fight Club has a monologue at the beginning that was talking about buying a lifestyle to become a particular identity, this is not far off.

What happens if they let it close? What is inside? There must be some kind of lining- it can't just be an open wound into their insides? Could they just get the "lining" taken out and let it heal ? But then how do they urinate? So many questions

kafkascastle · 16/01/2023 21:48

AgathaAllAlong · 16/01/2023 21:16

It doesn't heal. Healing would be it closing. They want it to stay open. Imagine...

It's not keeping the wound open though, it will be skin that has been used to create the vagina but it won't be a raw wound inside.

FOJN · 16/01/2023 21:48

There are so many videos on YouTube from detransitioners who were poorly informed before surgery and have to have multiple revisions. I saw one from a TW the other day where the urethra healed over and because general urologists don't have anything to do with "SRS" it was difficult for the TW to get treatment. They had to have a catheter through the abdomen for 3 months before a revision cold be done and then they had to dilate the urethra everyday for a year to stop it happening again.

It's even worse when they put children on puberty blockers, there isn't enough "material" to work with so the surgeon's have to resort to even more brutal methods which have a higher complication rate. A certain reality TV personality needed 3 revisions after their SRS but they will still never have sexual function and they are sterile, placed on puberty blockers before the had fertility to preserve.

Progress, yay!

I don't think even Mary Shelley could have dreamt this up.

People don't just do it for fun. I just hope they get shown lots of photos etc of what can go wrong so they can make an informed decision.

They don't. Many of the girls getting mastectomies think it's reversible.

Ihatedonuts · 16/01/2023 21:50

Don't you mean outside the vagina? Like pubic hair. Men's hair grows around their penis etc

OP posts:
bellinisurge · 16/01/2023 21:51

A mental health issue isn't fixed by surgery. That's what a lobotomy was - a surgical "solution" to a mental health problem.

Ihatedonuts · 16/01/2023 21:51

How can a mastectomy be reversible? Dot hey still keep nipples and get implants?

Sorry kid woke up just seen dilating. Surely they don't have to do that forever???? I just hate the thought these kids / teenagers being told it will cure stuff. What about if they want to have kids later??? How does that work?

They will not be able to have children. Males will no longer have testicles and females won’t have vaginas after surgery.

Women don't urinate through their vaginas.
