Complications from trans surgery!

I know it's a daily mail article but I can't help thinking. We only ever hear positive stories but the figures tell us this. I really hope the men and woman are getting the support they need from these complications. 🥺

Half of trans surgery patients suffer pain, sexual issues years later mol.im/a/11629421 via dailym.ai/android

But how can It be painful if the surgeon has made the hole? I mean I'm still waiting wary about surgery as above . But once it's done it's done 🤷

I'm sorry what do you mean stretch the hole???

They have to stretch the fake vagina. Like you have to wear an earring or the piercing will close up. But on a much bigger scale.

Ihatedonuts · 16/01/2023 21:12

But how does it heal?

Oh well

This is an appalling response.

Regardless of where you stand on trans issues, these are still human beings who are suffering.

Ihatedonuts · 16/01/2023 21:12

But how does it heal?

God knows. It's meant to of course, but one of the complications is that it doesn't. Or that it does but too tightly.

This 100%

This is what I thought but you said it better than me.

RaininSummer · 16/01/2023 21:16

Horrendous and quite astonishing that people opt for these risky surgeries.

AgathaAllAlong · 16/01/2023 21:16

It doesn't heal. Healing would be it closing. They want it to stay open. Imagine...

toocold54 · 16/01/2023 21:16

I wonder how many people go to different countries to get these things done.

I know many people who’ve been to turkey to get their breasts done or liposuction because it’s way cheaper and you get it done much quicker.

Unfortunately there are less regulations and anyone can get anything done and it’s not always to a high standard.

It personally bugs me more if a person says they’re trans but won’t have the surgery to remove their genitals - as to me that’s not being truly trans and I feel they’re doing it for the wrong reasons.

However, anyone who wants to change their gender needs counselling and needs to live as the opposite sex for at least a year and of course must be at least 21.

The same goes for people who want to live as an amputee or blind person and damage their bodies to do so.

Kaibashira · 16/01/2023 21:16

Phalloplasties are nightmarish botch-jobs. Absolutely horrendous stuff.

nymag.com/intelligencer/article/gabriel-mac-essay.html

Same for neo-vaginas.

This is extreme body modification not "healthcare".

Should adults be able to do that to their own bodies? Probably, yes. Bodily autonomy and all that.

Should they be able to access it under the guise of "healthcare"? Definitely not, no.

And there is absolutely no excuse for telling children that this sort of modification will "affirm" an "identity". That's just dangerous and disingenuous.

Noicant · 16/01/2023 21:16

Thats just tragic, it must be a horrible way to live, knowing that you did it voluntarily (although I’m sure at the time most of them would have said they believed it to be necessary).

Presumably the same as piercings and other surgeries. I had a belly piercing for several years and I gave up on it because it kept getting painful and infected.

I still have pain from a c-section 10 years ago. That’s a statistically far more common procedure and many women suffer pain for decades after. I can only imagine vaginoplasty is a far more complex procedure and much greater risk of complications.

Its disgraceful this isn’t more openly talked about 50% is a terribly high number, daily pain is exhausting. I feel very sorry for those suffering.

Hopesakiller · 16/01/2023 21:18

Seems like an expectation Vs reality situation. They want a porn stars vagina and end up with a surgically created orifice that behaves in some ways similar to your average woman's vagina. As a born female I have at times experienced many of the complaints on that list

JacquelinePot · 16/01/2023 21:19

These surgeries should be viewed in the same way we view lobotomies: unethical, dangerous and ineffective, with horrific and irreversible side effects.

Humans can't change sex and it is indescribably cruel to pretend otherwise.

It's like any wound or part of the body that is made open when it shouldn't naturally be there. Like piercing holes etc, the body tries to close it up as it naturally wants to 'heal' it.
This is what happens unfortunately when we mess with the natural anatomy of the body unnecessarily.
I wonder if people having these operations are actually told that only 50% are 'successful' and without long term pain/ complications. I know all surgeries come with a general list of risks that are possible but these are major life changing risks that should be heavily stressed before allowing someone to go through with the procedure.

littlelid · 16/01/2023 21:20

People don't just do it for fun. I just hope they get shown lots of photos etc of what can go wrong so they can make an informed decision.

Breakfastinbedonhols · 16/01/2023 21:22

I don’t think this thread will last long.

I really feel for some young people who being sold a dream of changing who they are by taking medication or perusing surgery. It is most definitely life changing, but I don’t think in the way they believe it will be.

Alittlenonsensenowandthen · 16/01/2023 21:22

The irony is that the same politicians and lobbyists are fighting for girls to not have fgm in other countries (rightly so) but are happy to mutilate in the name of trans rights. Defies logic.

Hopefully many expensive lawsuits will end it…very sad

BethDuttonsTwin · 16/01/2023 21:23

Well here come the chickens home to roost. For almost a decade GC women have been shouting from the rooftops about these dangers and they were attacked, abused, careers ruined and ostracised for doing so. So I don’t care, except for the poor kids involved. Anyone who worked in this industry - and it is an industry, a highly profitable one, should be in jail.

I think that even if some are told the high risks, they always think that it only happens to other people.

This is quite a harsh response. They are not idiots, but confused, rejecting extreme sexualised stereotypes, dealing with trauma and/or completely misinformed and led astray by the many MANY posts and YouTube channels that proselytise with proud photos of mastectomies and new authentic selves including by high profile actresses. Add to the mix that you are younger and trying to find an identity with the trans community telling you that you’re special and it makes for a disaster for our young adults.

BethDuttonsTwin · 16/01/2023 21:25

smileladiesplease · 16/01/2023 20:58

People are being duped. This trans juggernaught will be stopped in its tracks as law suit after law suit starts to roll in.

Surgeons will push back as insurance companies won't insure for the surgery.
Can't come quick enough to save future lives

I hope you’re right but when though? I peaked in 2015 and we were all saying this then. It’s close to a decade on and still crickets.
