Complications from trans surgery!

I know it's a daily mail article but I can't help thinking. We only ever hear positive stories but the figures tell us this. I really hope the men and woman are getting the support they need from these complications. 🥺

Half of trans surgery patients suffer pain, sexual issues years later mol.im/a/11629421 via dailym.ai/android

It is heartbreaking. Transitioners who experience harm and complications say that they found information very hard to find and risks are often waved away by practitioners.

There are growing numbers of accounts from young men who felt persuaded by others that they were trans yet have now realised that they were just non conforming gay men. But now they are men without penises and with altered bodies and permanently harmed health.

One has described the spongy penile tissue that remains after his operation which still engorges in the same way and makes a ‘stump’ (his description).

Female transitioners also experience nerve damage from their double mastectomies that in some cases feel like phantom nipple pinching - constantly. Severe pain while having sex due to organ atrophy from taking testosterone seems to be a known side effect. This leads to hysterectomy and other surgeries to help deal with the pain.

I’m sure there are better ways for people to become comfortable in their bodies especially as hormone treatment and surgery seems so hit and miss and in many cases causes worse mental health and worse physical health.

I saw a Tesco blue token fundraiser for them. That's ok?

If you’re ok with teen girls limiting how much they can exercise because they can’t breathe, or causing damage that they can’t possibly consent to (akin to breast ironing), then yeah, it’s great.

Most people don’t question it, they go along with it because a) they’re progressive, b) all organisations involved in teen MH support follow an affirmation model of care.

Binders are like corsets that hold breasts down. Imagine a sports bra but far tighter, so tight that girls have been known to pass out, not be able to draw breath or sing, and can permanently damage breasts and rib cages. They are touted as "safer than bandaging" and that they are no worse than a sports bra but I never heard of a sports bra that can fracture your ribs.

I have seen videos of detransitioned women saying that wearing binders prevented them from singing or performing in drama productions as they couldn't breathe properly and the effect persisted after they stopped wearing the binders. The binder literally stole their voices.

HermioneKipper · 16/01/2023 22:15

I have no idea how this is legal.

Its a scandal waiting to happen.

You wouldn’t chop off a healthy leg of someone who has mental health issues and claimed it was broken when it wasn’t.

TheKeatingFive · 16/01/2023 22:15

This is going to be the absolute mother of all medical scandals.

But nothing other than total affirmation was acceptable. Any questioning voices were shouted down as bigots.

I still can't fathom how we got to this place.

When you do the mastectomy the nipples, if left, would end up in the wrong place. So to retain them, you need to do a further procedure to remove the nipple, cut a hole in the chest skin, and reposition it.

That lengthens surgical time and, in the US at least, increases cost.

In addition, some of the people going through this surgery prefer the featureless chest look.

Finally, in some cases the nipple will fail to take in their new position and so will be lost.

Did you use the acronym TiM or refer to autogynephelia? TiM is banned - you'll need to say transwoman or mtf transitioner. Same principle applies with TiF.

GreenSunfish · 16/01/2023 22:20

Any health professionals going along with this and not whistleblowing this at the very least are complicit in a medical scandal. You can’t solve feelings/body dysmorphia through irreversible surgeries. When a persons penis is sliced open and inverted to form a front hole (it is never a vagina) I’m surprised that only 33.8% have sexual difficulties. These surgeries are wrong on every level. Adults should have bodily autonomy but surgeons should not be doing these surgeries. Everyone knows surgery is not 100% perfect and if you think about the complexities of genitals it is obvious you can’t make them out of arm skin (fake penis) or colon (fake vaginas). These surgeons should be in jail for malpractice not just sued!!

DeeplyMovingExperience · 16/01/2023 22:20

You can't "make" a vagina. Just like you can't "make" a penis. These aren't car parts off a production line.

clutchingatpearls · 16/01/2023 22:00

Yes, but also cross-dressing (counted a 'trans' by Stonewall) is a sexual fetish and they like their penises.

Well yes, I know, but there will be many who want to go about their lives who will be terrified of the surgery, but may be (I have always said SHOULD be) denied access to female spaces because they have a penis.

Angliski · 16/01/2023 22:20

They’re mutilating their bodies and are left in agony. So very sad that people consider this an appropriate thing to do to oneself. Really sad.

endofthelinefinally · 16/01/2023 22:20

Aside from all the horrific butchery inflicted on these kids, the worst thing in my view is the dangerous effects of cross sex hormones. Teenaged girls being tipped into menopause, osteoporosis, heart disease, potential uterine cancer 30 years too early.
Young men at risk of stroke and cancer.
I know a young M to F person who died of a massive stroke at 40. The cross sex hormones appear to have been a significant factor.
You never get over the loss of a child.
Parents are told that they must support transition or their child will kill themselves. They are not told that these treatments increase the chance of their children dying prematurely.
I have lost a child.
I would not wish it on anyone.

If you have the money you pay for laser hair removal pre op by hair removal is not part of the NHS package as far as I know.

It probably should be

See response by previous poster but I think you've found the entrance to the rabbit hole, once you start there is no way to stop yourself falling.

Don't Google nullification surgery whatever you do.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/01/2023 22:21

I hope this thread is allowed to stand. This information needs to be in the public domain. This is where it ends for some tiny kids whose parents 'socially transition' them because a little boy likes dressing up or a little girl wants to have short hair and play with trains.

One of the many things that's wrong here is that a vagina is not just a hole for a man to penetrate during sex. It's a tube of muscle connecting the womb to the outside world and most of us were born through one. Telling a male that this surgically created fistula is equivalent to the amazing natural vagina is grotesque.

Wanderingowl · 16/01/2023 22:22

Last year when the whole commotion about Kiwi Farms was happening I took a look at the forums to judge them for myself. Without getting into what KF is like, I ended up on a thread where posts from other parts of the internet from people who had these surgeries are collected. And OMFG, it's horrific. I honestly believe that if these photographs and personal descriptions of the aftermath of these surgeries were put together as mainstream news, these surgeries would be halted immediately and banned after an investigation. They are terrifying.

Take it up with tesco if its an issue for you. Presumably some people are ok with it if they are putting tokens in.

They will not be able to have children. Males will no longer have testicles and females won’t have vaginas after surgery.

Not true, many male female to male trans people don’t have bottom surgery and they can have children if they keep their internal reproductive organs.

TheKeatingFive · 16/01/2023 22:25

This woman advertises these procedures to teens on TikTok. She also, apparently, operates without insurance so she can't be sued.

gallagherplasticsurgery.com

She refers to cutting breasts off young girls as 'yeeting the teets'

Shocking.

When you get MPs like Lisa Nandy banging on about getting treatment for her 'trans child' constituent, this is where she wants her constituent to end up, age 18.

Remember that.

endofthelinefinally · 16/01/2023 22:27

It is my understanding that the older M to F self ID transitioners generally don't have any hormone or surgical intervention. It is the younger people who are encouraged to have surgery and hormones. I honestly don't think teenagers are able to make these life changing decisions.

changeme4this · 16/01/2023 22:27

Long time ago now, but I read a bio on someone who had undergone various trans procedures, and that person said nothing would have talked them out of it, and was then having some reversals done...
