To wonder where Margot Robbie's internal organs are.... see Vanity Fair cover

This is not an intention to body shame - but I find the cover shot of Margot Robbie on Vanity Fair quite shocking. And unnecessary 😥
I have been just as thin, and was classed as underweight and diagnosed with an eating disorder.
I hope I'm not the only one who wonders what the next level for stars might be, if this is an aspirational "look". And for us regular humans.

She looks fine to me. Obviously sucking her stomach in and probably been photoshopped but not unhealthy. Funny how it's not OK to comment on fat women's bodies but slim women are fair game.

Whatatimetobealivetoday · 14/01/2023 19:50

Just Googled it and I think you’re wrong here sorry. You can have body fat and be healthy and still have this figure and indeed internal organs. She’s cleverly posed and probably breathing in.

I say this as a recovering eating disorder sufferer who is currently overweight and you can still see my ribs when i breathe in. I’m tall and it’s just my figure.

Not that Margot Robbie is overweight, she looks healthy and fine!!

YABU

sadly those with disordered eating often lack perspective well after finishing treatment, your extreme view on this is testament to that

PlusLaMeme · 14/01/2023 19:52

Do you mean the one where she is wearing a black dress baring her tummy? If so, she looks fine to me. There's a bit of an optical illusion going on in the picture with the black of her dress merging with the darker background. She just looks very strong with a core to die for!

astronewt · 14/01/2023 19:52

She's not concave. She looks thin, but fairly muscular.

Cherry60 · 14/01/2023 19:52

It's a crappy photo but I don't think she looks underweight

Nicecow · 14/01/2023 19:53

Think the visible ribs are a bit much, but I'd love a stomach like that

Fairyliz · 14/01/2023 19:53

They are under her skin not covered with a thick layer of fat like most peoples.

PlusLaMeme · 14/01/2023 19:53

While I typed, someone posted the picture. I've had a good look at it, and I still think she looks totally fine. Very very strong. She could definitely beat me in a street fight!

LoveMyPiano · 14/01/2023 19:55

Hmm - I guess I stand corrected then.....
I had an eating disorder, not body dysmorphia.
I think extremes of shape (not weight) are disconcerting, and neither need to be aspired to, or worshipped.

Some people just have very prominent ribs. I am carrying extra weight at the moment, but you can still - very clearly - see my ribs.

My collar bone is also very prominent, for example.

It’s just different body shapes. I don’t look at that photo and see anything shocking - just your usual slim Hollywood type.

That's just how a fairly slim person looks breathing in. Mine are as prominent if not more when I breathe in, and my BMI is 23.

I was being kind of facetious, I admit.

Well you can’t really help what shape you are so I don’t really see what you’re getting at.

walkinthewoodstoday · 14/01/2023 19:58

I used to look like that pre children and I hated how my ribs stuck out. I was self conscious about it and would hate for people to have been speculating. I wasn't unwell or anorexic- I just had a good metabolism and ate whatever I wanted! People are different.

LadyAstor · 14/01/2023 19:58

Looks like normal, toned, female anatomy to me.

Exactly ^^

PeekAtYou · 14/01/2023 19:59

She looks strong and athletic imo. I suspect the twisting and holding your breath makes you look like that if you're slim.

lljkk · 14/01/2023 19:59

I couldn't tell if MR has a healthy body size.

DD's legs looked emaciated at worse of her anorexia. Her legs really gave her away (also hands & face when she fully lifted her hair).

Those shots are cleverly posed, but MR doesn't look as scrawny as I recall DD looking.

GarlandsinGreece · 14/01/2023 19:59

If you look at older pictures, she definitely didn’t look ripped like that around the midsection. Hard to tell from that photo if she just got athletically in shape, or if she’s taken it too far.

Flaunch · 14/01/2023 20:00

It’s a horrible picture that doesn’t show her at her best but she looks healthily slim

Raspberry290 · 14/01/2023 20:00

She looks fine. This is just bodyshaming

Moomoomeemee · 14/01/2023 20:00

I've had eating disorders and I'm quite anti diet culture....but also think she looks fine

KendrickLamaze · 14/01/2023 20:01

She is beautiful and doesn't look too thin but that is a very weird picture/angle.

catfunk · 14/01/2023 20:01

I don't think she looks too thin, just strong and lean and she's sucking her stomach in too of course.
