To wonder where Margot Robbie's internal organs are.... see Vanity Fair cover

This is not an intention to body shame - but I find the cover shot of Margot Robbie on Vanity Fair quite shocking. And unnecessary 😥
I have been just as thin, and was classed as underweight and diagnosed with an eating disorder.
I hope I'm not the only one who wonders what the next level for stars might be, if this is an aspirational "look". And for us regular humans.

Threads like this make me cross. A healthy woman is shamed as being too thin. We’ve lost sight of what is healthy.

BusySittingDown · 14/01/2023 20:20

🙄It's the way the photo is posed and then there is a shadow which makes her look thinner.

Margot Robbie is perfect.

Inkpotlover · 14/01/2023 20:21

She looks fine and healthy, it's just a really weird pose/outfit/shit picture.

Luredbyapomegranate · 14/01/2023 20:22

She’s just overdoing it on holding her stomach in. It looks a bit weird, but that’s not what it will look like normally.

BusySittingDown · 14/01/2023 20:22

Why don't we just stop commenting on people's weight? It's so fucking infuriating! 😡

Atethehalloweenchocs · 14/01/2023 20:22

I kind of think the rule they use with dogs is a good one, should be able to feel the ribs but not see them..........

Lentilweaver · 14/01/2023 20:23

DD is 5"6 and 8 stone. She doesn't have an eating disorder. Just young, a high metabolism and "good" genes. You cab see her ribs too if she posed like that.

IcedPurple · 14/01/2023 20:23

I don't like the photo but I don't think she's terribly thin by Hollywood standards.

Has anyone said 'We've lost sight of what a normal body weight is' yet?

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 14/01/2023 20:23

I am in ED reovery since my late 20's @LoveMyPiano, she looks fine to me. Those rib marks are 'covered' and have likely oddly been 'bronzered' to give that look.

EconomyClassRockstar · 14/01/2023 20:25

I think Margot has a body to die for. Far from the pools of skinny mini LA actresses, she looks strong and healthy. Plus she's gorgeous and is a great actress. Totally my girl crush!

Terribly unattractive picture but no I don’t see anything concerning about it. She is just a slim woman and is sucking her stomach in

TheKeatingFive · 14/01/2023 20:26

I don't think visible ribs says much. I have a bmi of 24, could definitely do with losing some weight and I have very visible ribs. It's just how the fat is distributed on the body.

JoanDarc · 14/01/2023 20:26

She looks fantastic - healthy, lean and strong. It’s normal for many within a healthy BMI range to see the outline of ribs under the skin, I have this and many friends do too.
Unfortunately there seems to be a trend to body shame slim women that they must have starved themselves to look the way they do - as if it’s the only way they could possibly maintain their body shape.

ffsonly46 · 14/01/2023 20:26

I agree she looks healthy and strong but, for me, the image also implies that this is the expected normal for all.
I really don't like the media using these kind of images.

That's nasty.

YouWithoutEnd · 14/01/2023 20:29

My ribs are visible, my BMI is 24, all my organs work fine.

She looks fine, strong and lean.

She looks great.

You're supposed to be able to see children's ribs too. People forget what normal bodies are meant to look like.

Are you saying bigger than this is fat??

TheKeatingFive · 14/01/2023 20:31

She’s revoltingly thin

No. You've just lost touch with what's normal.

GyozaGuiting · 14/01/2023 20:32

We shouldn’t thin shame women either.
I’m slim, bmi usually 21-22, completely healthy and if I suck in I look like this.
Visual ribs are actually healthy and fairly normal.

OrlandointheWilderness · 14/01/2023 20:32

I'm definitely bloody overweight but I think she looks great. Strong and healthy, as well as cleverly posed.

I hope you don't have daughters or granddaughters 😒
