To think most people have *not* tried cocaine?

On another thread, a poster states that 'most people have at least tried cocaine'.

I haven't, and family haven't. However, on threads about drugs there always seems to be a clear divide - either people haven't taken them, or everyone they know has.

So, for a very unscientific survey:

YABU - I have tried cocaine
YANBU - I have not tried cocaine

Never tried it, never wanted to. The same goes for my husband, our adult sons, and their partners.

YANBU. I never have. But I've never had the opportunity x

I haven’t, none of my family or friends haven’t. Same for DH.

One of my sister’s colleagues offered me some on a night out.

YANBU, never, nor any other type of drug. No interest whatsoever.

I haven’t. DH hasn’t. My mum hasn’t but my dad has (although not since way before I born). I genuinely don’t know if my sister has but I know both my brothers have. It’s widely used, far more widely than you’d notice I think. I think it’s because it spans social circles to a greater extent than other drugs and it doesn’t smell so you can’t tell who has it about.

Never have, never will. If people reserved drug trafficking and how it actually gets to the UK they would be horrified, it is the stuff horror films are made out of.

I think most people I know have at least tried it, although I don't know many regular users. I haven't done any for about 15 years and never would now.

I have. I shoved loads of it up my nose at 18, then didn't have another line until 5 years later and then the next one I had last year. So I wouldn't say I am an addict. I also agree that the majority of people have not tried it.

I know very few people that haven't tried it. (I don't know anyone who takes it regularly anymore).

Yanbu. Never have and never will.

YABU, was very 'normal' when socialising back in the 90s/00s with in my peer group.

I haven't and most friends haven't but I know two groups of people who have and think it's to do with demographic and industry in both those cases.

Never tried it, wouldn’t know where to get it if I wanted to.
Wouldn’t want to knowingly hang out with anyone that did.

I haven’t even smoked a cigarette let alone take drugs.

I have but grew out of it pretty quick.

I have done my fair share but not done any in the last 13 years approx nor do I have any interest in it. Friends in certain circles have all done it, and in other circles none of done it.

I remember having this exact conversation with a friend about 2 years ago. She did loads of coke when we were in our twenties, which i knew about, and it came up in convo. She tried to say i was in the minority because I'd never done it and that i was somehow naive to think others hadn't either. I thinks she was talking rubbish to minimise it, I don't believe the majority of people have done it at all.

Nope, neither have my close friends or DH.

Maybe you are right, but I’m pretty sure if you asked my Mum she would say I hadn’t tried cocaine (I have).

Virtually everyone I know uses or has used it recreationally to some extent.

I don’t think we’re typical or representative of most people.

Everyone I know has, it’s completely
normal in my friendship group.

I have tried it , although haven't taken any in years. Most of my social circle have tried. Equally I have a few cousins who I would be very surprised if they had ever touched it.

I haven’t and had opportunities to. I think I know one person for sure who did use it.

I have taken it naybe 5 times in my life, in my twenties. Didn't do anything for me. Most people I know would have tried it in their late teens/ twenties but don't think I know any regular users.
