To think most people have *not* tried cocaine?

On another thread, a poster states that 'most people have at least tried cocaine'.

I haven't, and family haven't. However, on threads about drugs there always seems to be a clear divide - either people haven't taken them, or everyone they know has.

So, for a very unscientific survey:

YABU - I have tried cocaine
YANBU - I have not tried cocaine

YANBU. Have never tried it, been offered it or seen it irl. I'm sure that by the law of averages some people I know must take it, but none that I'm aware of. I never had any desire to take any illegal drugs tbh.

Virtually everyone I know uses or has used it recreationally to some extent.

I don’t think we’re typical or representative of most people.

I'd find better people to hang out with.

I've never tried it.
Ive had opportunity. House parties in my 20s where my friends would be taking it in the living room, I just stayed in the kitchen. It's never really interested me.

YABU, many many people in my local area do it socially. Some do not, but I would say most do.

I haven't but have been offered it many times. I've lost friendships over it actually as I'm very anti drug.

I've never tried and to the best of my knowledge, none of my friendship group have either, I'm sure it would be talked about if they had or we'd notice when we were out.

I used to work in publishing in the 90s and early 00s and it was everywhere. I occasionally partake now - maybe once every 2 years when the circumstances are right. It's still fairly common I think.

Plenty of opportunity but why would you want to anaesthetise your nose? Just do not get why you’d do it.

Never tried it!!

But I know a lot of people that have tried it and I know a lot of people that use it regularly, I've been offered it many times, but I don't want it and I'm stubborn, so I've always said no

I never took it - I was a really goody two shoes (that’s not a bad thing) when I was a teenager. Apart from anything else my mum would have been so disappointed in me if she’d have found out. Long term school friends have never taken drugs either. Most of the friends I’ve made as an adult work in elite sport and sport science and it’s really not the done thing in those circles either.

I was a student in the early 90s too, and I used to get very drunk and party a lot, but not only did I never take cocaine, I never saw any and was never offered any and wouldn't have had the slightest clue of how to get hold of any. I didn't know anyone who ever mentioned having tried it.

Nope,never wanted to try it and I've been around people who've had a line of coke and smoked cannabis.

I love being in control of my own mind so it's not for me.

Most of my friends have tried it. Not anymore tho. When we were at uni. Lots of drugs back then and lots of dancing.

Never have and never will. Did a lot of smoking many years ago. But haven't touched it since having kids.

Know of a lot of people at work who does though.

I have no idea if my adult DC have, I’d be surprised if they had TBH. And a bit disappointed so I’m probably best not knowing.

I know plenty of people who definitely have. In some circles and industries it's fairly commonplace.

Plenty of people wouldn't admit to it though, so I'm not sure how you'd ascertain true numbers. It's not something I'd discuss at a family dinner or bring up with random colleagues. I'd quite possibly lie if asked directly.

And I went to a notoriously druggy university. Never been offered it, so I'm a real square 😂

In my age group it's more common than you'd think, but it actually seems to be really prevalent in the older 30-40s who live in big cities from my knowledge - loads of people in high powered jobs do it regularly (on school nights!) which blew my mind.

None of my actual friends are involved either, we're all individually quite a stickler for rules.
