Annoyed over school dinner

Name changed for this.

Dd has just started primary and has 2 nights a week at dad's. She's never been a fussy eater but started asking for packed lunches.
I said no as lunches are free and she's more likely to eat a better variety
She told me over Xmas her dad is sending her in with a packed lunch. I asked him and he's said on his days he's doing a packed lunch and on mine she's having school meals.
Aibu to think that's confusing and should have been discussed with me 1st?

One of mine, back in the day, loved school dinners. Then Jamie Oliver came along and made them healthy! Turkey twizzlers gone! He rebelled. I was doomed to making packed lunches. He is now an adult and eats and cooks amazing meals. I personally would just go along with the flow of this. It will resolve itself in the long run.

I'm prepared to be told I'm wrong. I just don't think I am
🤣🤣🤣
You are. Really.

This is one of the biggest non-issues I've ever seen and I fear for your dd when a real issue comes up. Your resentment is going to really affect their relationship

I think it would have been normal and polite for him to have mentioned it to you, but I'm obviously in the minority 😂
I think nutrition is really important so ideally some sort of unity in decisions about what she eats would be on the cards but heyy, I didn't have stuff like Cadbury mini rolls in my lunch so I'm probably just bitter 😂

And if the OP was complaining that the DC was getting packed lunches that consisted of 3 chocolate bars and she was concerned about nutrition, then she'd probably have got some more supportive answers.

But her concern is simply that dad is providing packed lunches. They might be more nutritious than the school meals.

His time with her, his choice. To expect him to run something like this past you is ridiculous.
