so she went off to have a treatment and was due to meet a friend after.I dropped her there. I came home , started a film and have had two glasses of wine so cant drive. She rang for me to collect her. She is a mile away , its well lit and a cool night where I am..no snow etc. She is losing the head that I wont/cant collect her. AIBU

Nope. HTH.

NoelNoNoel · 21/12/2022 21:29

You can’t collect her, it’s just one of those things. You have a life too.

Woopzies · 21/12/2022 21:30

Given the atrocities going on in the world right now, I don't blame her for going spare. But I would pay for a taxi for her at the very least.

bloodywhitecat · 21/12/2022 21:30

Did you tell her you would collect her or is she just expecting you to do it?

BCBird · 21/12/2022 21:30

U can't. U had wine. She had whine too😫

Mrsjayy · 21/12/2022 21:30

She's Being an arsehole let her get herself home.

JemimaTiggywinkles · 21/12/2022 21:31

You can't collect her. It's not a "won't", you're over the limit so it would be dangerous for you, her and anyone else out tonight.

YANBU to have a couple of glasses when you weren't expected to drive tonight.

Changechangychange · 21/12/2022 21:31

You can’t if you are over the limit. Unfortunately there is no way round that.

tengreenbottleshanging · 21/12/2022 21:31

She was due to meet a friend but it fell through. We live in a very safe place

Eh?

dontpickupthemob · 21/12/2022 21:32

She's an adult let her book a taxi or get a bus!

poefaced · 21/12/2022 21:33

1 mile on a well lit road is very doable.

She sounds like a spoilt brat.

Enbite · 21/12/2022 21:33

I’d offer to pay for a taxi if its late and she doesn’t feel safe walking. Other than that Yanbu.

HamBone · 21/12/2022 21:33

One mile? That's a 15-minute walk tops, probably 10 minutes for a young adult.

You legally can't drive and she's 18, she can get an Uber or taxi, or walk.

dogtheted · 21/12/2022 21:34

Why can't she get a taxi or Uber?

Of course you can't drive on 2 glasses of wine.

Buteverythingsfine · 21/12/2022 21:35

Where we live you wouldn't get a taxi quicker than walking 15 min home, no Uber, she needs to stride out.

tengreenbottleshanging · 21/12/2022 21:36

She is totally safe but moaning that she is cold. Is there any life outside of kids anymore ?

The walk will warm her up. Or tell her to run.

Jackie17177 · 21/12/2022 21:36

A mile? My DS had to walk 4 miles to and from work when the trains were on strike and there was ice on the pavements..... I'm a soft touch at the best of times but you have had 2 glasses of wine - picking her up is not an option. She can cope with a mile! (Unless there is a massive drip feed!)

Oysterbabe · 21/12/2022 21:39

Why all the talk of taxis? It's a short walk, lazy mare.

HamBone · 21/12/2022 21:40

Yes, the quicker she walks/runs, the warmer she'll feel!

I'm about to walk about nearly a mile myself...perhaps I shouldn't given I'm nearly 50, it's cold out and I may collapse from exhaustion on the way.😂

ColdHandsHotHead · 21/12/2022 21:41

Is there pavement all the way? Unless there isn't, she can walk.

Nicknacky · 21/12/2022 21:42

What are you talking about?!

curvymumma79 · 21/12/2022 21:44

Can you walk and meet her half way?

Loics · 21/12/2022 21:44

A mile isn't very far at all, and would be extremely cheap even if she pays for a taxi, if she isn't willing to walk.
