to believe H&M because of defamation laws?

I've watched the full series on Harry and Meghan.
A few things have struck me.
The most important thing is that there are defamation laws in England. Damage to your reputation is grounds for pursuing such a case. That no such case has yet been initiated by William or Kate, suggests that there is truth in Harry and Meghan's version of events.
Meghan comes across as very vulnerable but very real. She also comes across as very much in love still; as does Harry.
I admire Harry for his decision to leave. I do buy his logic; if the tax payer had even 1% of a contribution to their lives financially, the media could then claim a public interest.
Harry comes across as incredibly intelligent. He has always been touted as the dumb one. He seems to be very much more than some dumb guy.
He adores Meghan and that seems to be reciprocated. She gave him an out.

Harry is very much is mother's son. Diana would have supported Meghan I think. I think they were kindred spirits (Diana and Harry) in a way. Pawns in the game where the king and queen reign...

The other thing which I found telling is that Doria spoke on the documentary. She has kept schtum up to this while watching her daughter experience extreme highs and then extreme lows. She never spoke out. I don't think that I had heard her utter more than one sentence prior to this documentary. She is a lady who keeps her own counsel I suspect.

They come across as a pair of over-privileged, attention-seeking wastes of space, to be quite frank.

Shejustwentthere · 16/12/2022 06:19

Mind you, Harry and Meghan seem more upset about the 'institution' than the family. As an outsider who had not grown up with a reverence for a monarchy, I suspect that Harry finds Meghan to be refreshing.

Wow.

Why do you say that?

Yep! Over entitled too, greedy to waste tax payers money but not their own to 'go it alone'

Disabrie22 · 16/12/2022 06:21

If you watch it though - they are actually skirting round defamation laws. There’s huge accusations in there - the ones that Diana pretty much made about Charles - jealousy about popularity.
They are both obviously much happier living their own lives - the only thing is we are going to have to watch them banging on about that for years to make their living.

You don't have to watch it. I mean, if you've heard it all before.........

They're just destroying every family link they had. The palace haven't responded to anything because they're above that - not because it's untrue.

Shejustwentthere · 16/12/2022 06:24

What about William and Kate? Are they wastes of space?

Charles and Camilla? I've seen more personality emanate from a box of tampons.

I don’t think anything can be read into the fact that William and Kate aren’t lowering themselves into a tit for tat battle. It wouldn’t gain anything and would just play into the attention that Harry and Megan seem to be craving.

On the contrary, the appear to have done everything they possibly could, to escape paparazzi.

It would be useful if those commenting could clarify whether they have watched the series or not.

If you’re doing everything you can to escape the media you don’t create a documentary on Netflix 🤷🏻‍♀️

She’s a fucking award winning actress!
OF COURSE SHE COMES ACROSS AS REAL!

Cheesecheeserson · 16/12/2022 06:30

Opinions regarding a person’s moral character cannot be prosecuted for defamation because they are not factual claims that can be proven true or false. So in that sense H and M can trash talk all they want, call people racist, etc.

You do if you're sick of keeping quiet. I'm a bit Meghan. I don't dance on ceremony, I abhor niceties and I can't keep my mouth shut in the face of lies or injustice. It's very apparent to me that her being stifled was terribly difficult for her as a woman. It would be for me too!
Woe betide the man who dates me and expects me to obey some sort of family traditions, in contradiction of who I am fundamentally, when I meet his family! That would the end of that relationship.

I think their claims are justly true but then general public just don’t want to believe it.

add soo - list people on here haven’t watched it, they’re just picking out the headlines they’ve read in the DM

I suppose they should be thankful that they're not being hung for treason 🤔

Wrong - opinions on moral character can be libellous and defamatory. There is a defence of honest opinion but it only goes so far.

We no longer have the death penalty for treason in the UK. It was abolished in 1998

I don't get on with my SIL. That doesn't make me a cunt anymore than it makes her a cunt. We simply don't get along.

I suppose, a bit like Meghan, I'm never conformist. I'm more of rebel without a cause in her view.
